Excellent summaries of the news upthread.
Lately, I read the news, start writing a post about it, then give up. Trump has gone full on dictator and we are observing it in real time. There's spin, AI, doctored videos and so much happening in different theatres, that I look back at the days when we were only talking about tariffs and think: Ahhh, the good old days.

Oil executives meeting regarding Venezuela. Most certainly it's all about oil. Trumpfart loves the Chinese and of course himself.

That's exactly how I feel.

I read the NYT interview and just didn't have the strength to comment.

After being naively optimistic last year I now do believe that Drumpf and his flying monkeys are all working in tandem to get to the point where they can declare a national emergency or whatever and cancel mid-terms.

I see no way out, there is no coherent opposition. Ever since lies have been subrverted to be accepted truths, normal people with morals and ethics are lost.

I can't keep up with it all. There seems to be insanity and derangement coming from every direction.

It feels as though we are reaching a tipping point.

As ever they’re flooding the zone, we need to wade through the bullshit, half truths and noise to find the signal. Remember how overwhelming their first few weeks were.

There may be no coherence amongst the opposition right now but there are fundamentally good people out there and I still see reason for hope.

Trump's comment in Times interview about "he doesn’t need to abide by international law and the only constraint keeping his power in check is his own morality" is chilling. (that's paraphrased, not verbatim)
The man's morality is very dubious, plus he considers any opinion he has as the ONLY valid opinion

I'm renewed with hope after O&G exes did what I expected and aren't tripping over themselves to enter VZ market. I like the comment: "Maybe Trump will bankrupt the oil industry too."

For what it's worth, I email my senator - well, former, since I now live in the UK, but I doubt he knows that - several times a week and call on occasion, urging him to sack up. He never does, alas. Just pushes his glasses down his nose and issues another strongly worded letter.

Sigh.
