Hi all,

That's bad news about your Macbook @Mumtobabyhavoc Thanks

Great idea abou the first of the month idea!

Our cleaner is here doing her thing so that makes me happy. But it's a bit frantic from 6 am to 6.30 before she arrives. I always say 'hate it when she's coming, love it when she's been'. She's a gem.

Got a quote for a clean of our fascia.

Have DC dentist appointment this morning at 8 am. Need to pick up some groceries and also post two letters that bizarrely came to our house instead of their intended addresses in London. We are a Very Long Way from London. Really odd. Not least because the name of the street is nothing like ours either.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Thanks
WinterFrogs · 02/04/2026 07:36

Hello all! I enjoyed @crivit and @Peridot1's line of thinking 😆

Sorry about your mac book @Mumtobabyhavoc 💐 Is that the room of horror that got tidied? Excellent silver lining if so!

I can't get my head round a cleaner that early @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia but it obviously works for you. My house is fairly ship shape as I 'ran' the March flylady thread. Well, some of it - I dropped off in the middle as my mh took a battering but actually contining the routines was the fix that I needed. The regulars were very kind about it 🌟

I am very glad it's April. April and October are my favourite months when the temperatures can be relied upon to be fairly reasonable.

Today I intend to do the FL routines which include a 20 min early, straightforward, workout.

I have also accumulated 'stuff' on the spare room cuboard floor which I will address today.

Have a great day all!

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 02/04/2026 09:25

I have just peeked into the flylady threads and joined @WinterFrogs . Smile

I definitely need inspiration for my day to day life!

SpiritOfEdna · 02/04/2026 10:48

Morning, @Peridot1 the buy now button on that mug didn't work for me - will try again today thank yoooouuuu.🌻

Been busy already today

  • made a tiramisu yesterday which was taste tested for a party on Saturday, verdict was more coffee needed. I think one of the sponge fingers soaked up all the coffee Very easy to make though
  • nearly finished making bunting, looks like my counting was out and I am short a couple of green one and missed sewing some red. I am drawing the line at making my own bias binding. Amazon it is (thanks to Amazon Prime 😄) Argument with ChatGPT mid way about why my sewing machine was doing big spiders nest on the underside, managed to sort out 😃
  • one poster almost done, and a day to do a second one tomorrow
  • gym done this morning, refpilates tonight, just a day of work to get through
  • need to tidy up all the sewing stuff when the bunting is finished
  • am monitoring chocolate delivery to Cornwall
  • Need a post party plan for Sunday and Monday otherwise I'll just sit on the sofa, eating rubbish 😄

That's all for today, have a good one, SoE

Evening all
Very wise words about skin checks, I keep meaning to find out about getting mine checked, I am very fair of face and have had a growth previously. I now use SPF 50, so am hoping that helps.
The Easter hols are in full swing here, dc2 isn't dressed yet, still plenty of homework to be done. I can't face the necessary battles today.
I'm so ready for a glass of wine and a nap. 4 days off work now, such bliss.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 02/04/2026 18:31

Hi everyone

Happy Easter weekend all, have a lovely one.

So far weve had a million meltdowns over nothing, but its all okay now that dd has her French fries, apparently

This weekend is just deep cleaning the flat again, and some days out for dd.

I got dd some sand and a sandpit for her playroom. Its an odd choice, to have sand indoors, but its the only thing she really loves. So as long as I keep on top of vacuuming we should be okay.

I vow to get back to my daily projects. Today it was clearing the table and putting out a little fruit bowl, which is filled with apples. I've also got two loads of laundry to hang up.

@SpiritOfEdna youve done so much, you are my inspiration today and tomorrow. May my 'done' list be like yours 🙌

@Mumtobabyhavoc sorry about the macbook - they last so long, i swear by them - but how awful that your newer one was stolen. What must be annoying as well is not having a definite answer to what happened to it! Time for another new one?

@SpringingIntoSummerLobelia hope dc dentist appointments were okay - i am thinking about getting a cleaner, just to help keep on top of stuff 😫

@WinterFrogs I like april too - as much as I can like the non winter months.

Love to you all ❤️

Mumtobabyhavoc · 02/04/2026 20:01

@mumofoneAloneandwell you are a Super Star for the indoor sandbox!!! 🤩🤩🤩
Maybe put a tarp down so you can fold it up to shake off outside + the vacuuming?
My kids would live a play date at yours!!!! Havoc has been asking for an indoor slide. 🙄🤦‍♀️

Another PSA: Have rec'd three emails from Amazon Prime that my account was suspended, a glitch was fixed and then Welcome to Amazon Prime. I thought it was odd and noted to check into it. Saw the emails today that the issue was resolved etc. but it seemed weird. The email missed a word in a sentence. 🧐 Phoned Amazon and the emails are fake.
If any if you see something like this, please report to Amazon customer service and check your account. I cannot stress enough how legitimate these emails looked. Do not click on any links within these emails.

BerfyTigot · 03/04/2026 10:17

Happy Easter weekend everyone! Today i have a full day available to me to declutter and organise my craft supplies.

It's a bit daunting and I'm procrastinating starting the job. Think I'm going to watch a film at the same time so that it's a bit more enjoyable and so that I don't overthink each decision.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 03/04/2026 11:35

Happy Easter weekend.

I need to sort out my jewellery boxes at some point @BerfyTigot and planned to do that in front of the tv too.

I have cleaned out the kitty litter and cleaned out my car. Very pleased with that.

Later I have some ironing to do. Making a slow cooker beef burgundy for dinner.

Hope everyone is fine. Thanks

BerfyTigot · 03/04/2026 11:43

Turns out that my 'craft cupboard' is full of all sorts of random tat which can easily be decluttered. Just need to make sure that it goes in my car before anyone comes to rifle through it.

I need to sort my jewellery too @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia Lovely job for a wet and windy afternoon!

mumofoneAloneandwell · 03/04/2026 13:46

😄😄 thank you @Mumtobabyhavoc - they'd have lots of toys to play with as dd only likes a handful! Sand, balloons and bubbles here 🙃

I have bought tarp!

And omg the email from amazon! Will keep an eye out. Ive actually been hacked before, and had £100 stolen. This was a decade ago though, i dont think the bank would hastily refund my money these days

@BerfyTigot result on the decluttering - i have been known to chuck things away just because i'm sick of the sight of them 😫

@SpringingIntoSummerLobelia slow cooker beef burgundy 😋 - I bought some Chinese style marinated chicken thighs for today - i used to have them as a kid and woke up craving them

Today my outdoor errands are done. Been to the dump. Food cupboard stocked well, and took advantage of the cheap veg that's on the go at the moment. 1kg of potatoes for 15p!

I'm gonna try making fondant potatoes, i'm very excited about this 🙈

All that's left is to clean the kitchen and then try and encourage dd to play with the play doh ice cream set i got her. I want to build her ability to focus - we got somewhere yesterday before a meltdown, so will set two minute timers and see how we get on.

Love to all ❤️

WinterFrogs · 03/04/2026 15:56

Hi all! I blinked and missed a load of stuff. Happy Easter weekend to you all 🐣

You have all been so busy! I have been looking at the allotment threads. My garden needs some work and I am learning things (but still procrastinating) So as it's cold and windy out I am tucked under a blanket watching gardening videos

Peridot1 · 03/04/2026 16:46

Hope everyone is having a nice and relaxing Good Friday.

A sandpit indoors @mumofoneAloneandwell. Rather you than me! But well done for being brave enough.

@Mumtobabyhavoc - what a pain about your newer MacBook being stolen. I remember you mentioning before that you couldn’t find it.

Yesterday I managed to tweak my back so have been taking it easy. Although it’s better when I move around so I am trying to do that. But I didn’t get much of my list done. Did some laundry and put Easter decorations up. Not much. But I have a few bits I like.

Today has been quiet too but I did eventually descale and clean the coffee machine and clean the microwave. And decided to start sorting some kitchen cupboards and drawers. Food storage ones. DH has a habit of overstocking certain things. So unfortunately I have had to chuck quite a bit of out of date stuff which is annoying. Aim is to reduce our overstock and therefore the storage space so it can be used more sensibly.

Also changed towels in bathrooms and washed them. Second load is in.

Now sitting quietly with a cuppa and dipping in and out of MN and various other online stuff. And reading a bit.

RunningKatie · 03/04/2026 17:20

I have purchased a new ironing board, peak excitement reached. Dc2 and I are going to watch a film and I can iron on something the right height and that doesn't wobble. I am beside myself with joy.
Apart from that we're having a lazy bank holiday, I've overheated the paper shredder, dh has gardened and the dc have been glued to screens. I'm quite close to switching off the wifi.
Washing machine loaded for later and I've located the knitted bunnies that sit on creme eggs for Sunday morning. I've also had a power nap which was bliss.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 03/04/2026 19:16

Congrats on the ironing board Katie. 🥳 You must be in overdrive if your shredder has pooped out!
Sorry about your back Peridot. 💐
Take it easy. 🧡
Winter, I hear allotment and I remember that saga thread last year, I think, about the couple and their new house purchase that came with an allotment which a neighbour had taken over and refused to give back. All sorts of legal chat about squatter's rights etc. It was quite entertaining, but I think the OP played it up a bit. 🤔
Mumofone, Glad you have a tarp. I should have known you'd have planned well. 😊

So, my laptop was brand new in the box. I tucked it away into a storage bin of other stuff when I packed everything up when the floors were getting done. Had to pack up like I was moving. We had to stay elsewhere while the reno was underway. Haven't seen the laptop since. Have gone through all boxes.

Attaching a screenshot of one of the scam emails. I can see how people are falling for these. It had all the Amazon headers etc.

Daily Project Round 9
Peridot1 · 04/04/2026 10:40

A new ironing board sounds peak excitement @RunningKatie. It’s the little things in life! I love the sound of the knitted bunnies - they sound very cute.

Those scam emails are a nightmare @Mumtobabyhavoc. It’s so wearing to have to be on our guard all the time.

Nothing much achieved here today as yet. Am about to do dishwasher and kitchen clean/tidy. And continue with kitchen drawers/cupboards sorting. Also want to go to the gym. Weather is dull and damp here today so not really conducive to any gardening. I do need to water all the new plants that are waiting to be planted.

DH and DS are going to a football match tonight so I have a night in on my own. Cannot remember last time that happened. Am pretty excited!

Have a lovely Easter Saturday all. 🐣

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 04/04/2026 10:47

Hi all- and Happy Easter!

Not much here either. I have tidied downstairs and mopped. And inspired by a birthday cake thread I have made a pear tea cake. From Scratch. (Usually I do mixes only at best). I am committing myself to baking every weekend from now. I am a good cook (I think) but a very rubbish baker so here's hoping it helps my skills and I hope the DCs and DH enjoy the results.

Hope everyone has a nice Easter planned. We are going to our local pub- they do amazing roast lunches and even more amazing- they still had tables available!

I need to plant out some summer bulbs. I have a pear tree in the garden that I want to plan some lilies around.

Best wishes to everyone.

FurForksSake · 04/04/2026 11:11

Dh and ds (13) are digging up the front borders so we can plant hydrangeas and bulbs. This has been on my long list of jobs for years.

FurForksSake · 04/04/2026 11:11

The baking sounds great! I don’t do it nearly often enough.

Peridot1 · 04/04/2026 13:52

My little kitchen sort out has become a big kitchen sort out….. looks like a bomb has gone off…… we definitely have way too much stuff. How many Pyrex dishes does one need??? I’d forgotten we had half of them.

Peridot1 · 05/04/2026 16:38

Happy Easter Sunday to all who celebrate. 🐣🐣🐣. And happy chocolate day to everyone else. 🍫🍫🍫

I cleared up the kitchen bomb site yesterday. Still more cupboards and drawers to sort but it’s getting there. Went through DH’s overflow herbs and spices box this afternoon while he was upstairs and managed to get rid of some out of date spices.

Remembered I’m supposed to be getting the hall, stairs and landing sorted too so did the drawers in the cupboard in the hall. The cupboard itself is my shoe storage. Will move boots etc upstairs tomorrow. Hopefully they won’t be needed till autumn now.

Off duty now. Going into read for a bit. Hope you are all having a nice day.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 05/04/2026 23:34
Easter Bunny Wink GIF

I hope everyone had a lovely day.
Just about got dinner ready here. Duck is cooked and having a rest, roasties in the oven, flour browned and ready to make roux once broth chilled so I can skim fat (duck broth, so very fatty) and make gravy then will only need to roast the asoaragus and green beans. Oh- and make the garlic bread. Better run and mix up the garlic butter for that!
Costco Tuxedo cake for dessert. 💡

Stop by if you want a midnight snack lovely thread friends. 🩷🐣🐰

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 06/04/2026 06:32

That really does all sound delicious @Mumtobabyhavoc !

We were out yesterday. DH and I had a vegetarian roast which was really outstandng. It was made of rice, barley, onions and mushrooms and was cooked into a loaf then cut in slices. It was a nice surprise it was not the ubiquitous nut roast (although I do love them) as DS1 has allergies so we usually can't eat that. We had this with honey carrots and parsnips, caulflower au gratin, roast potatos, cabbage and the largest yorkshire pudding I have ever seen. It was really amazing. DCs had a regular turkey roast.

Today I am planning to do a full clean of the house, empty bins and vacuum. I also have a charity shop bag that I am putting together.

Hope everyone has a very good day.

RunningKatie · 06/04/2026 11:25

That sounds amazing @Mumtobabyhavoc - I'd be there right away!
We've been out for breakfast this morning, washing is pegged out on the line and the sun is shining. What a lovely bank holiday! Now I need to tackle some life admin tasks, apparently one of these highly essential tasks is preordering a game for the dc. I've told them I'm not ordering it till all homework is complete. Currently it's not focussing their minds!
I've also got to tidy up for the cleaner, we've got the usual school holiday stuff creep going on although we tackled a corner of dc1's room yesterday and it looks infinitely better for it.

Peridot1 · 06/04/2026 12:05

That sounds delicious @Mumtobabyhavoc. As does your meal @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia.

We had roast lamb yesterday.

I feel I’m a bit behind this morning. Or afternoon as it is now. Had a nice long group chat with my friends in Australia and New Zealand. Emptied the dishwasher. Put some washing on. Have a moth smoke bomb going in the small spare bedroom. The glamour! Will do other bedrooms tomorrow.

Supposed to be going to the gym but haven’t managed to get there yet. Might just quickly do something in our home gym before lunch.

Nice and sunny here so might do some gardening. Need to prep the beds to plant all the new plants.

Have a nice day all.
