Oh lovely @Mumtobabyhavoc !

That is very seriously a gourmet delight.

Stop by next time! 💛

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 29/03/2026 20:41

Aaah..how much I would love that. ❤

Mumtobabyhavoc · 29/03/2026 21:56

If you hurry you can make it for lunch. Pancakes with grilled pineapple. I'll make you a coffee. 🤗

Mumtobabyhavoc · 29/03/2026 21:57

I'm not just eating today. 😂 Have folded and out away kids laundry and gave another load in the wash. Also wiped kitchen floor.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/03/2026 00:18

Have now vacuumed, washed the floors and cleaned the bathroom. That's enough for today. 😅

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 30/03/2026 08:57

Morning all! Pancakes with grilled pineapple!! Lovely. Grin

I am giving myself a partial MN ban. Just posting twice a day - and only on this thread. I need to really crack on with Real Life.

So, today I plan to sort the house out- have several loads of washing and ironing to do.

Loads of roast chicken left for us so another roast dinner is on the schedule and then any leftover will be for smug soup.

Hope everyone has a lovely day!!!!!!

SpiritOfEdna · 30/03/2026 10:06

@BerfyTigot I had a plain yellow small le Creuset mug as well, but it got smashed - it was my absolute favourite.(SOB) I have spent countless hours trying to find a replacement (it CANNOT be an ombre one - which seems to be the norm). I got it from TK Maxx - so VERY jealous.

Lol, I started this post last week - and have procrastinated so much it is still here and still relevant :-)

We did have a Costco roast chicken stolen from the door step over the weekend! (put down on the wall while we carted stuff in and out the car, it got left behind, when we looked 5 min later it had gone, I hope they enjoyed it!)

Today

  • desk tidy
  • washing - ooops now drying!
  • refereeing between colleagues 😄
  • big supermarket shop last Wednesday and today i still need to go and get stuff 😄Who doesn't love a mid morning walk to the shop?
  • Wishing it was 5pm already
  • lost my glasses (again) over the weekend, so supermarket dash this morning to get another cheap pair of readers - I can read again
  • succumbed to amazon prime to get some fabric delivered quickly so I can make bunting this week - that will arrive today.
  • Need to send bathroom guy the list of things we need to buy for the bathroom and then start buying stuff so that it is in the window for returning if anything goes wrong.
  • send chocolate to Cornwall for Easter

best press 'Post' as have managed to go wildly off piste/poste in search of my chinese horoscope for this year 😄, have a good one, SoE.
<laughing at my own joke>

Morning all! Lovely and sunny here which is always good to wake up to.

Dinner looks yum @Mumtobabyhavoc. Pesto and feta on the lamb sounds good. DS might even like that. He’s a fussy bugger!

@SpringingIntoSummerLobelia - I should ban myself too. Way too much wasted time on here and I’ve discovered Threads recently too and it’s equally as addictive.

I sat with a notebook and pen and a glass of wine last night while DH was cooking and started The List. Head felt less antsy afterwards. Now to (1) finish it and (2) start ticking things off.

Today:

  • dishwasher and kitchen
  • order paint samples (done)
  • change my bed
  • laundry
  • wipe around bathrooms
  • suitcases to attic and take some things down we might use in hallway
  • finish list
  • something in garden - probably helping DH repot and move some rhododendrons
  • research chopping board situation/storage/replacements and wooden board display/storage
  • sort veg storage
  • exercise - probably a walk as it’s sunny

Have a great day all.

BerfyTigot · 30/03/2026 12:25

@SpringingIntoSummerLobelia I can relate to needing to spend time doing stuff rather than reading threads on here 😬 Good idea to just look at this thread.
Grilled pineapple sounds amazing - i presume you have to use fresh pineapple? Or do you just wring out tinned rings?

Good luck finding your mug @SpiritOfEdna

Impressive list @Peridot1

Today I'm painting a small wall, doing some more decluttering in our junk room (it's a long process) and walking the dog.

Should be achievable.

WinterFrogs · 30/03/2026 16:05

Oh how i love you lot and the twists and turns this chat takes ❤️

I am not even going to look up threads @Peridot1! My only vice is MN ( and grapes and peanuts evidently!) Great list!

I am an extremely lazy and yet wholesome cook @Mumtobabyhavoc 😳 So yeah, greek yogurt, ground flax, ground something else that includes goji berries and sunflower seeds, plus fruit ( whatever is available but often blueberries/raspberries) grated dark chocolate and then a spice sprinkle. Like people put on their porridge. It is probably an acquired taste, but I have acquired it 🤣

See there people go, painting things again@BerfyTigot ! I hope it's gone well 😊

I have cleaned and reorganised our small entrance hall today. And wiped fingerprints off light switches. And dusted and hoovered behind my bedside cabinet and found 'dust bunnies'.

There are all sorts of places that need touching up with paint. I'm wondering if this is the year that I'll get it done 🙏

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/03/2026 16:43

Love everyone's posts today - not loving that your dinner was stolen SoE! 😡

Yes, I used fresh pineapple for grilling. I just put a smear of butter on the griddle and grilled each spear until it had a bit of colour on all sides buttering the griddle a bit with each turn. I made a quick pseudo-caramel in the microwave with brown sugar and butter and a shake of cinnamon to drizzle over the pineapple and pancakes.

I had to set my alarm for 7am today. Got up and put dishwasher on; coffee; and breakfast for dc who are having muffins and fruit today.
This might only be the 2nd time they've had muffins and Havoc is quite pleased with "breakfast cake". 😂 I've git a pot of eggs boiling for snacks later for my mum to give them as I've got an appt at the hosp shortly - nothing serious - to get a mole removed. I'm being very proactive. Getting another removed next week, I think.

My PSA: please get your skin checked yearly by your GP or derm. Don't get brushed off. If you have dark skin or tan easily you are not safe - in fact, skin cancer on darker tones is often not diagnosed until later stages as it is more difficult to detect and the persistent misconception that it is low risk.

Love to everyone. 💛💐

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 30/03/2026 17:19

Oh that mug is lovely.

When I 'retired' I bought 2 blue Le Creuset mugs. I do like them, but only for coffee, not for tea.

I have had a most successful day. Tidied alot of the house, changed the Dcs bedding and washed it. Ironed a load. Cleaned both our fridges (DH and the cats have one and I and the Dcs share have another... it's been way too long so a little grim). Almost finished my court thingie- just have to download various quotes. Paid a bunch of invoices. Considered ISA options for the pennies I have saved lately - well under £1 k but it all counts. I also acted out various poems for DS1 who is prepping for his exams. [side note- Lord the GCSE set texts are so bleeding dull].

So I am having a lemon and ginger tea right now, then will put another load of washing on and will get dinner sorted.

And you are 100% right @Mumtobabyhavoc . The DH of a friend of mine recently went to the GP for something and she said 'I don't like that freckle on your nose'. He's 75 and waved it away. But his wife pushed. 2 months later he's had most of his nose removed and is starting therapy next month.

Yep. All the time and worse.
My mum argued with me for over a year about what she said was a birthmark. 🙄
I finally threatened convinced her to see the doctor. Was referred to oncologist: stage 2 grade 2 cancer. It was very close to her chest wall as growing inward. She was, and so far still is, lucky. 😅

Waiting in hospital now. I think I'll need extra parking. I should be in surgery already. 🙄

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 31/03/2026 08:43

Morning all.

I hope so much your mum is okay @Mumtobabyhavoc Thanks thinking of you both.

I have one of those bowel cancer testing kits I was sent a few weeks back that i really MUST get on with. I just have too much going on inside my brain and it is the last thing on my mind.

I'm starting at 9 am today and turning off all social media in the hope i can replicate yesterday's success. Hope everyone has a Very Good Day.

Peridot1 · 31/03/2026 09:24

Completely agree about the skin checks @Mumtobabyhavoc. I get one every year now. And am pretty fanatical about SPF. Even in winter.

Hope your surgery went well.

I achieved most of my list yesterday. Which doesn’t happen often. Except for the repotting of rhododendrons as it was too cold and very windy. I did help DP fit a hook to a gate so that’s my garden task. I also didn’t finish The List. But will carry on with that today.

Not sure how much I’ll get done today. I’m about to go to the gym and then we are out for lunch with our neighbours. Have just done the dishwasher. Will put some laundry on.

Have a great day all.

crivit · 31/03/2026 10:43

On the skin note, I've been toying with the idea of one of those photo scan things rather than a dermatologist appointment. Saw a dermatologist a few years ago and they spent approximately 90 seconds doing a quick once over that didn't even include a couple of specific things I wanted checked. Skin cancer in my family so probably should stop procrastinating on that one, although as a life long sun hater hopefully my chances are lower fingers crossed

Still struggling health wise here so doing things in fits and starts. Need to finish the shower room today, and start on the kitchen (more decluttering before a good clean). Nothing like the fear of someone coming in to your home to provide a kick up the arse 🤣

For mugs, we have a selection of odds and ends for the most part. We do also have some lovely local artisans who sell at markets though so maybe this summer I should pick up a set rather than just look longingly at them 😁

Mumtobabyhavoc · 31/03/2026 19:02

Lobelia, please do your sample test TODAY. 🧡
Crivit, I have another derm I see who also seems to just skim over things. Frustrating. Try for a new referral. My "good one" has a 2 year wait list.
Peridot, glad you're on the team! It was tough for me to change my mindset about tanning, but this is year 11 of sunscreen and covering up. I had what I called a "perma tan" on my chest and pointed it out to the derm who said, That's sun damage. 😵‍💫 After several years, maybe 7, it finally seems to have faded away.

My mum is well. Gets oncology check up every 6 months with bloodwork and is on Letrazole to suppress estrogen. Her cancer is estrogen positive so the hormone feeds it and needs to be suppressed. Even when past menopause our bodies still produce estrogen, which I didn't quite know. Her oncologist is amazing and has kept her on instead of discharging her to the GP for follow-ups which is protocol.
I'm a bit sore today, but fine. I'm super cautious and told the surgeon to go deep and wide with the incision as I was less concerned with vanity than my health and being a mum. iykwim Will have biopsy results in 2 weeks. I'm not expecting anything unusual.

Just finished a 3rd coffee and put a load of towels in to wash. About to get ready and take kids out then have some work to do for one of dc's activities I'm volunteering on which is a bit more of a chore than I anticipated. 🤦‍♀️

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 01/04/2026 07:15

Hope all results are good @Mumtobabyhavoc . Thanks And hope so much that your mum continues to go well.

Skin cancer runs in my family too- but I grew up in Australia so that's by no means uncommon. I was VERY lax on sunscreen the first 10 years or so of living in Europe. Just did not take the sun seriously, I am ashamed to say. But I am more religious about it now - that is mainly vanity though, I confess- last time I was in Australia the difference between people who had been in that environment and did not wear sunscreen and those who did was very visible.

Hope your health issues are easing a bit @crivit.

Hi to everyone.

I've done well staying off MN. But did not achieve much yesterday in the end. Juts little bits of irritations got in the way and I could not settle to anything. Today is washing bedclothes for me and I need to run a vacuum around.

Hope everyone has a good day.

WinterFrogs · 01/04/2026 07:15

Good reminders @Mumtobabyhavoc! Thank you. I hope your results are good and that you feel less sore very soon 💐

I have done the poo test @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia It took me a day to sit with it, another to read the instructions, yet another to open the box and look at it. But very easy once I got my head around the idea.

Boots do one like you mentioned @crivit I think i might go there.

It's foggy here! I have errands to run today. Just finishing my coffee and have done my exercises. I've finally worked out how to set my heating thermostat. Or alter the settings, in my case. It took youtube and gritty determination. But i couldn't do connections this morning. It's Not Right, the way they Mess With It sometimes, just as I'm getting the hang on it 😞

Small project today....thinks hard....a couple of boxes need to go in the loft, and another need to come down and the stuff in them rehomed.

Have a lovely day all!

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 01/04/2026 07:17

Cross post @WinterFrogs ! Thanks

Peridot1 · 01/04/2026 11:36

Morning all.

@WinterFrogs - I felt the same when I looked at Connections first. Then one jumped out at me and I quite enjoyed it. Figured out the 1st of April reason after reading your comment.

@SpringingIntoSummerLobelia - the poo test is pretty easy. I did mine the day after I got it. DH still hasnt done his. Nor the second one they sent. He’s now 65…..

For skin checks I go to a clinic in London called The Mole Clinic. It’s a pretty thorough check. Not cheap but worth it for peace of mind for me. And it’s right by Liberty so I then go for a mooch about.

Not much was achieved here yesterday but had a good gym session and then a nice lunch out. Then a bit of further decorating planning and research. And then I fell asleep on the sofa.

Today as it’s the first of the month and I want to get into a routine of doing these tasks monthly I have the dishwasher and washing machine running a deep clean cycle with cleaning stuff. Also washed the dishwasher filter. And the filter from the kitchen extractor fan is soaking in hot soapy water. I will also descale and clean the coffee machine. And clean the microwave. Kitchen floor also needs a wash and a scrub along edges by cooker and dishwasher.

Other tasks today are:

  • laundry
  • small amount of ironing (main pile has been picked up today)
  • start sorting main spare bedroom - which might lead to an airing cupboard/bedding sort out
  • research repainting a cupboard vs. having it repainted professionally vs. selling it and buying a new one
  • chase up some plants I ordered that haven’t arrived
  • menu plan for the rest of the week as I didn’t do it over the weekend and DH is getting stressy 🙄
  • carry on working on The List which is still not finished

Have a great day all.

crivit · 01/04/2026 14:58

@Peridot1 How much of the expense is the appointment, and how much is the browse in Liberty's 😆

I love the 1st of the month idea. I shall steal that for next month, maybe making it the 1st week as I'm often not at home on the 1st of the month.

I didn't work yesterday or Monday but basically got begged to go in this morning (I did say no to this afternoon as well). Now I'm tired and have no energy to do the shit I need to do... Since I got home from work I have done a (machine) hand-wash which is now hanging on an airer. I've also cuddled the cat a lot.

Debating a trip to a café followed by some shopping that needs to happen. Hopefully an afternoon caffeine hit will help and when I get back I just won't sit down until I've done some other stuff. Tempted to throw a lot of stuff in black bags to sort when I get back from my travels which should then mean I can clean a bit more before I go.

For the skin check I have my eye on a place in Paris. It will mean I have to spend a night there and therefore will also have no choice but to go to a particular bakery that I love for brunch the next morning 😎

Peridot1 · 01/04/2026 15:17

@crivit - actually not bad! Liberty is a bit beyond my price range but I do like mooching about. It feels quite decadent even if I’m not buying anything. Paris for a skin check sounds very decadent indeed!

My jobs list has moved about a bit. Ended up in the garden as it’s not too cold. Two rhododendrons repotted and a corner of a bed weeded. It’s normally hard to access but we moved pots around to get at the rhododendrons so I took advantage.

So coffee machine descaling and microwave cleaning will be done tomorrow.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 01/04/2026 22:36

So. I tried to fire up my 15 year oks Macbook Air last night and it was completely dead. Won't charge. 😔🙄
Decided to go through the storage room, again, to look for my brand new but now 3 year old MacBook. Yeah. Not there. FFS. IT HAD TO HAVE BEEN STOLEN. 🤷‍♀️😡😵‍💫
Ended up hand writing a bunch of stuff, taking a pic and sending that off. Because of course I can't connect my phone to my old printer either. 😵‍💫
Storage room has been vacuumed and is tidy, though. 🙄🙄🙄
