I keep falling off the thread but have been keeping up with it - poor @Mumtobabyhavoc that sounds awful for all of you, hope you recover soon.

Not really a project as such but something I should have got round to ages ago is to order new bed linen for DD1 and DD2 as their current sets are about five or six years old and looking pretty ropey. They chose their own (no longer matching 😭but to be fair they are nearly ten and twelve so a bit of individuality is fine!) and they should be delivered today and tomorrow.

Tried to book a medical appointment but it turns out I have to speak to reception rather than do it online, so will need to leave it until tomorrow when I am WFH and can do it face to face rather than have an awkward phone call in the office.

RunningKatie · 11/03/2026 07:26

It's an early start to the day as I'm off to the office but there's sunshine coming in the train windows and blossom on the trees. Hurrah for spring!
I'm doing the Spring Cleaning challenge on Finch, today's task is to wipe down my desk. Very do-able.
Tonight I need to food shop and get Mothers Day cards written as it's this Sunday in the UK.

I have just started the challenge, today's task of opening a window is done!

Work today and tomorrow, but Saturday's project is to get the bicycle out of the shed, pumping up tyres, charging the lights etc so.i can build up to cycling to work once a week (and cycle back.on a different day, there's a safe storage for bikes). About 4 or 5 miles each way...

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/03/2026 20:11

Nice to see you back @autumnangel @crivit @SydneyCarton 😊

Thanks everyone for the good thoughts. 💛
So far the dc seem much better, save for the D Baby had last night. 😩
I had the car in the shop for an inspection and oil change. Will need 2 new tires next fall. Had a few niggling things on my list to repair and will get that done next week.
It's chilly here today, 3c, but I want to get the kids out after lunch for some fresh air now that I'm not worried about constant 🤮.

RunningKatie · 12/03/2026 20:33

Fingers crossed @Mumtobabyhavoc - hope the fresh air is good for you all.
Today's task for me @Baital was to declutter a drawer. Attacked the dc's uniform drawers so now have a pile for rags and a pile for the charity shop.
Working a short day tomorrow, can't wait for an early finish although I have aged parents stuff to sort which is a whole lot less fun.

Peridot1 · 13/03/2026 08:18

Hi all. Back home now.

Glad DC seem on the mend @Mumtobabyhavoc.

Jet lag and hunger had me awake really early. Decided about 6 to just get up as no point going back to sleep as have a delivery coming between 7.15 and 9.15 so got up. Then realised delivery is tomorrow…..

I definitely need to spring clean. Might check out this Finch app some of you have mentioned. Having been away for a month I did notice the house has a definite odour when I got back so a good clean and lots of window opening definitely needed.

Today’s tasks are laundry - one load is done, clean kitchen, PT session, sort unpacking and putting away. Possibly a nap. And some garden planning with DH. And a chat about finances and a plan for the rest of the year. Still doing some stuff to the house and have some furniture to buy but it needs spacing out so need a plan. And probably a list.

Have a great Friday all.

autumnangel · 13/03/2026 09:06

A rather bittersweet day as 2 years ago today DH and I ran away and got married in secret. The best day ever. Safe to say today I'll be having a day off from all the usual humdrum of life. He's got a nice memorial at the crematorium so I'll go there for a bit as I do find it quite comforting then I'm going to have a wee solo day in Edinburgh, just wander around and go to the beautiful cathedral across the road from where we were married and light a candle for him. It is a sad day but I am so full of love for him and so incredibly grateful for the wonderful memories and the life he gave me so I'll focus on that.

❤& 💐to all

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/03/2026 09:07

Welcome back Peridot. 🤗
Wow- already doing PT first day back?! 👏

It looks like we've all turned the corner re that horrendous d&v bug. Thank gawd! 😅
And thank you all for the kind words this past week. I was going out of my mind. I don't think I could handle another day of cleaning up D&V and multiple loads of laundry.

I just finished putting up some decos, testing then wrapping a gift for Havoc to celebrate 1/2 birthday. Kinda went bigger than usual adding decos and a gift. Usually do a cake/go out for a cake slice and a fun day out. Havoc was super excited at bedtime, though asking if there would be presents and a party: Mummy I really, really want birthday presents! 🥹
I think Havoc has forgotten about a special cake, though, which I think is the best part. 😊
Managed a load of laundry earlier and Havoc help hang it up then mopped the kitchen floor for me. Havoc was very excited about the new sponge mop. 😂
I'll take it for as long as it lasts.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/03/2026 09:17

@autumnangel
I think your plans for today sound lovely and special. Sending you lots of love today. 🩷💐

Peridot1 · 13/03/2026 09:39

Lots of love to you today @autumnangel. Definitely a day to be very gentle with yourself.

petalpower · 13/03/2026 09:41

Sending love @autumnangel. Your plans for today sound very fitting.

SpiritOfEdna · 13/03/2026 10:03

Good to hear the Havocs are on the mend. Fingers crossed it stays that way for birthday celebrations.

It's been a head exploding with work kind of week 😄But need to get some things in progress.

  • Our tiny yard needs a good spring clean. The last remnants of our previous occupant (20 year ago) (aka half a job Archer) was a beautiful flowering plant in a pot but it has finally bitten the dust. Will pull out all the twigs ready for a new occupant and then do a good old tidy up.
  • I need to start on some stuff for an Italian themed party in a month - so bunting and some posters and I'll also make a tiramisu; which looks fairly straight forward and no baking, my favourite type; but will need to do a trial run. I think I'll be near a Waitrose this afternoon when I'm in posh Alderley Edge so will pop in there for ladies fingers.
  • I need to buy a cadence monitor for my bike - will order today (I cancelled my Amazon Prime subscription in a fit of pique and now I have to wait for stuff.....)
  • last gym session of the week this morning.
  • off work this afternoon to go and look at tiles and sit in traffic
  • need to put some fabric away in it's new home
  • hoover for a fresh weekend 😄
That's all for today, have a good one, SoE

Hi all! I am glad the Havoc family are on the up @Mumtobabyhavoc

I have had an odd week and fell off the healthy eating wagon as well as MN.

I have made a start on the garden though, and managed a trip to the tip.

Best wishes to all 💐

RunningKatie · 14/03/2026 15:37

Hope that you had a peaceful day yesterday @autumnangel
Delighted to hear the Havoc household is on the mend, long may it continue.
I'm sitting with a large coffee, yesterday's aged parents house moving was hard work. Made me resolve to declutter as stuff was moved that was broken and unwanted. I did despair somewhat.

Happy Mother's Day UK friends. 💛

FurForksSake · 15/03/2026 10:44

Morning! I’ve not caught up for a few days. I hope people are feeling better and nice and productive.

I’ve got nearly two weeks off work. So I am going to try some projects.

  1. daily walk of at least two miles
  2. plant my bulbs
  3. make squirrels
  4. glaze firing
  5. make more pots and try some slab building
  6. get rid of ten items of clothing
  7. organise five drawers
  8. physio every day
  9. read at least one page or the artists way.

im hoping having a list will help

BerfyTigot · 15/03/2026 15:24

I have a cleaner coming on Tuesday morning so am desperately trying to tidy up and declutter a bit.

The house is definitely looking better, but I'm aware that it's superficial - the mess is contained within cupboards. But i can live with that for now.

We have one room which is very nearly sorted, so I'm going to focus on that this afternoon.

Peridot1 · 15/03/2026 17:02

Happy Mother’s Day to all.

It started out frosty here this morning then nice sunshine although cold and now rain. A bit like fur seasons in one day.

I’m not achieving much other than laundry. But will get back to normal and getting stuff done from tomorrow. I feel some lists coming on.

Oh - I had a look at the Finch app but think I may have the wrong one. I have a little cartoon character called Squiggles and lists that include getting out of bed…..

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 15/03/2026 17:04

Hi all- nothing going on here.

happy Mothers day to our UK posters!

That's the one!

You choose your daily tasks, so if getting out of bed is easy for you, you don't have to include it 😉you make your own list. One of mine is to walk the dog, as some days it's a bit of a struggle but it is good for me (and the dog) so it gives me a little bit of a shove to do it.

Another i have is a couple of times each week to make a plan for eating up the fruit and veg (we get a fortnightly box delivered) which reminds me and gives me a little nudge to a) eat more veg by planning meals around them, b) be less likely to.order a takeaway, and c) not waste food

But when I was off sick with stress last year 'get out of bed' was one of my goals each day...

Mumtobabyhavoc · 15/03/2026 18:54

Late and lazy morning here.

Took dc out for a drive last night to wash and clean out the car. A clean car in and out now + recent repairs including niggling things like replacing burnt out bulbs makes me feel like I've got a new car. 😂
I've got an old NA car that was a good model year and mechanic says I'll likely get 300k km out of it. It's got just over 200k km on it now.
My mechanic and his staff are all retiring end of this month. It is such a shame to lose so much experience (6 guys) and likely the only decent shop around. He's been trying to refer his customers out, but has been getting feedback like sending someone to X for a transmission only to be told brakes need to be done as well when they don't. 😔
It's such a dicey industry.

Anyway... after cleaning the car I took the dc to Siegel's for bagels and a cookie, brought some home and then we stayed up late watching a movie. It's so nice their appetites are returning. 😅

Loving everyone's lists and plans. I've got lots to do ...

RunningKatie · 15/03/2026 20:06

Dh is going away with work this week, so I'm tasked with keeping the dc and ddog alive. Plus remembering to put the bin out! I've got a list for every day, plus I'm having a few hours off mid weeek just to get a bit of headspace.
My Finch has tasks like "do 20 star jumps" and "hold a 1 min plank" - strangely I don't manage them every day. I do manage to make the bed though which always deserves a tick!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 15/03/2026 23:36

Have done a load of laundry, made a bed, folded and put away a load of clothes, vacuumed and mopped the floors. Feeling a bit smug and now watching the Oscars.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 16/03/2026 05:14

Kids asleep, so have sorted my painting supplies and noted I need painter's tape.
Took down pics from Baby's birthday picture wall and put into sleeves into binder.
Packed a box of the kids's clothes for donation which I'll try and drop off tomorrow then start a new box. I've been procrastinating as I ned to purge more then buy new clothes for the kids, esp Baby who has outgrown leggings/bottoms.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 16/03/2026 06:29

I really wanted to watch the Oscars @Mumtobabyhavoc but it started at 11 pm here sadly.

Hope everyone has a good day. Today is a tidy and sort day.
