@WinterFrogs that sounds like a delicious dinner!!

Feeling quite jolly this morning as last night H&I went out for a PTA event, saw friends, had a nice time, and D did well with a newish babysitter.

Hosting a playdate this afternoon and then tomorrow I'm off ALONE to my home country for three days to do some errands and see friends - I didn't go back at Christmas so I haven't seen friends in ages. Very much looking forward to it.

No useful tasks being accomplished around here.

autumnangel · 07/03/2026 10:21

Day off work today and I realise just how much it makes me feel overwhelmed. Will need to find ways to address this as yesterday I genuinely thought about phoning in sick but feel better that I'm not there today. There's just so much going on there, it is a massive distraction for me but it makes my brain hurt sometimes!

I'm currently listening to the audiobook 'prima facie' and I'm loving it. It's narrated by Jodie Comer (who I have a massive girl crush on). This morning I discovered she's currently performing it as a one woman show. In my absolute delight I start planning a few days away as there are no shows nearly, I start thinking of days off work, how I could get to Liverpool, researching hotels, other places to visit etc etc, it comes together nicely and I go to buy the tickets...sold out! If I had checked that first I could've saved myself hours of researching...never mind, I do secretly enjoy organising things like that even if it is only in my head.

I'm out for lunch today but will need to hoover the car as I'm on pick up duty and no one deserves to see it in its current state! Then tonight I'm going to spend a bit of time planning next week better so I don't feel as frazzled as I have the last few weeks.

Hugs to those feeling a bit rubbish ❤

Mumtobabyhavoc · 07/03/2026 17:40

I'm on about three hours sleep here. Havoc began V again last night around 10pm which lasted til midnight. Had to clean a couch, the floor and rug and wouldn't you know it, but my steamer bit it. I was wired after all that and couldn't fall asleep. Baby was awake til well after midnight as a result of all the activity then first one awake at 7:30am. I got the kids a light breakfast and parked them in front of the tv so I could sleep for a few hours and I was lying in bed, listening to them, then heard a V sound. Jumped up and found baby had 🤮.
So, cleaned that up, also had to clean floor and rug and am lying down again. I'm just tossing everything into the washing machine as I clean now as I'm washing towels/cloths twice daily. I have a mountain of clothes/soiled clothes to wash as well.

Aaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Baital · 07/03/2026 17:59

@Winterfrogs I make my own bread so I know what goes into it. I have a vintage Kenwood Chef and a dough hook and it works brilliantly with minimal effort on my part!

autumnangel · 07/03/2026 18:04

@Mumtobabyhavoc I hope it doesn't last much longer and you all feel better soon.
Home now feeling all peopled out. I really want to have a nap but that's dangerous territory at 6pm. Hoping I could have a wee hour then feel a bit more productive later as right now I want to lie in front of the tv and do nothing but I know I'll feel guilty about that later....right nap it is!

RunningKatie · 07/03/2026 18:43

Went to a meeting today about the dc's activity club, 45 mins later I found myself volunteering weekly. Whoops.
Still, needs must and it's been such a joy for them we'd be so sad for it to close.
Sending anti-bac vibes your way @Mumtobabyhavoc - hope baby and Havoc are ok and you're on the mend too.
Happy nap time @autumnangel - what bliss, sometimes I log off after work and have 10 mins shut eye before I come down to face the world.
Dh is going out tonight, I'm hoping to do a bit of Netflix watching and play some games with the dc.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 08/03/2026 03:43

Just past 7:30pm here. Baby has been sick the past several hours again. I was hopeful when Baby ate a few bites of plain pasta with butter, but it wasn't tolerated. I'm watching for dehydration. I got Baby on the scale and weight is down 370g.

I've bleach washed a load of white towels/cloths; washed two loads of our clothes and hung up; have a load of mixed towels on; and I've vacuumed.
I'm feeling okay despite no sleep.
Have got Sesame Street on tv from pvr. It was waaay better when I was a kid.

BerfyTigot · 08/03/2026 11:00

@Mumtobabyhavoc goodness, that sounds very hard. I can't believe you're still getting stuff done around the house! Hope Baby is better soon.

Today I'm decluttering a cabinet. Not getting rid of too much but I want to be able to close the doors again!

Also going to hem some curtains, which might be quite emotional as my mum made them and I'm just reusing them in a different room. It feels weird to be taking apart her stitching.

Hope everyone has a good day, whatever you're project.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 08/03/2026 14:33

Last night was rough. Baby slept a while after being sick after dinner, woke up and was sick again; managed two bites of toast and a tiny bit of water and has slept through the night. We're just up together now.
It's been raining since Tuesday night, I think, and looks windy now.

@BerfyTigot that would be emotional. There's something very personal about it because it's from your mum's hands. 🩷💐

WinterFrogs · 08/03/2026 20:50

Popping in to wave hello 👋
I hope the worst is over @Mumtobabyhavoc 💐

💕 @BerfyTigot

Nothing achieved at home today. But the upside is I haven't been in to make a mess!

WideOpenBeaches · 09/03/2026 07:34

I’d certainly be welling up if I had to unpick anything that DM had made. Hope you got through it @BerfyTigot

Talking of DMs, I’m leaving mine today to fend alone after she had surgery late last week. Been here for a long weekend and she’s ok.

I ‘semi’ left her in charge of supper last night just to see she was ok, and she was fine.

I’m very aware that my time with her is running out…as it does with all our time with parents.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 09/03/2026 08:25

Just getting into bed now at 1:15am with the kids. Baby woke up around 8:30pm to vomit. I cleaned up and threw laundry into the wash.
Baby fell back asleep then an hour later woke up to vomit again and that time it was all over the floor and some towels in the bathroom. So, it was clean the baby, bleach clean the bathroom and throw that all into the wash. Have got last load on now with the soiled blankets. I wanted baby to sit up for a while after that just to make sure it was over and some water could be kept down. So far, so good. 🤞

WinterFrogs · 09/03/2026 12:54

Hello all! Big hugs all round! Just one project today, sorting out one bedroom drawer. My go-to when I'm not too sure where to start.

BerfyTigot · 09/03/2026 13:56

Good luck @WinterFrogs I need to do my bedroom drawers too but they can at least be closed so that the problem is out of sight!

SpiritOfEdna · 09/03/2026 15:31

@autumnangel - I got all excited re Prima Facie in Liverpool too - I logged on the day they went on sale - they had gone literally within minutes! Am hoping friends will end up with a spare one. So disappointing.

Gosh Havoc that's been going on a while, hope baby is better soon.

Back with a list.

  • prop up a plant that's shot up and is leaning - done
  • I've been sewing; so tidying up all the sewing stuff while listening to a very boring meeting. A useful couple of hours on a Monday - done
  • water plants - done
  • must do a mat pilates session later today before it expires
  • tempted to throw some stuff into next door's skip - it's been two weeks of drilling & banging while they get a bathroom refurb. They've scarpered to family while we put up with the noise; and I've had a low level headache from it for two weeks.. It'll be their turn soon enough though when we get ours done - although have just checked and the skip is overflowing !
That's all for now as I've had this on the go since 11am this morning, have a good one, SoE

Evening everyone, hope Baby is keeping the water down still. Poor love, it sounds awful.
Lovely cleaner coming tomorrow, so the Monday night tidying up the surfaces has been done.
Ddog and I are flopped on the sofa for a bit, late night last night and I'm ready for some peace and quiet.

Peridot1 · 10/03/2026 23:21

Just popping in for a quick hello. I fly back home today so normal service will resume in a few days.

Really hope you all feel better soon @Mumtobabyhavoc. It sounds awful.

RunningKatie · 11/03/2026 07:26

It's an early start to the day as I'm off to the office but there's sunshine coming in the train windows and blossom on the trees. Hurrah for spring!
I'm doing the Spring Cleaning challenge on Finch, today's task is to wipe down my desk. Very do-able.
Tonight I need to food shop and get Mothers Day cards written as it's this Sunday in the UK.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 11/03/2026 08:04

Hi all.

Hope everyone is on the mend @Mumtobabyhavoc Thanks

safe travels @Peridot1

Not much going on here but my charger arrived yay! I had done my best with the old one using the tried and true methods of duct taping it back together but eventually it just was not playing ball.

I am off the the laundrette again. I am very behind on washing and drying. So that is next on the agenda.

Hope everyone has a great day.

BerfyTigot · 11/03/2026 09:44

Today I'm going to clear my stuff off a shelf of our junk room, in order to store other junk in there!

Ideally we'd all get rid of our own junk, but other family members aren't ready to let go of things.

I'll be doing it in 5 minute bursts to avoid getting too tired. And listening to a new audiobook- Nora Ephron's Heartburn.

Beautiful spring weather here too. Hope we all get a chance to enjoy it!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/03/2026 10:55

Baby woke up vomiting about a about an hour ago. 😥 I managed to pick up Baby and get into the bathroom without it getting in the bed or on the floor until the bathroom (Baby was sleeping on me). So, just our clothes and the bathroom floor got it. Got Baby into the bath and washed, including hair, poor thing, wrapped into a towel and placed onto bathmat while I cleaned up the vomit. I then cleaned the bathroom, used new sponge mop to clean floor and decided to just mop hall and kitchen while I was at it. 💁‍♀️ Stood baby up to get dressed and vomited again. Another bath. I've now got the towels and washcloths in a hot bleach wash in washing machine.
We're sitting on the couch and I've got baby on a towel and I'm going to wait a while before getting back to bed.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/03/2026 19:21

Did a bit of a catch-up blitz this morning: stopped by kids school to give presentation; created new WhatsApp group and messaged people to report on presentation; drove to cake shop to order a cake for Havoc's upcoming half birthday; hid present for same as it was on door step when I got home; called mechanic to book car servicing for tomorrow; called appliance shop to re-schedule service appt; picked up paper mail.
Managed it all in under 2 hours! 😀

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/03/2026 05:48

Just cleaned bathroom and washed floor after giving Baby a bath at 10pm. Don't ask. 😩

autumnangel · 12/03/2026 08:50

Goodness @Mumtobabyhavoc you're really having a time of it 💐

This week is crazy birthday week in my family, so it's been all go. It's my mums turn today so I'm taking her lunch then I'm going to see a psychic medium. I've seen her once before and thought she was really good but I'm not getting my hopes up today as I don't want to be disappointed.

Today's one job is to sort through the freezer and take the 5 bin bags I have to the dump.

Love to you all

crivit · 12/03/2026 09:44

sticks head back into thread

Life got awkward... After a little accident at work I was in a boot and using crutches and feeling down about it all. But, crutches are back in the cupboard and I'm allowed to ski again 😁 Now to just get rid of the cold that's sitting on my chest and making me sound a little Bonnie Tyler-esque. Although, at least I'm not living with very stubborn D and V! Sending disinfecting vibes to @Mumtobabyhavoc

Today's first draft list is, as ever, unrealistically long so I'm focusing on clearing and cleaning the fridge (it's old and needs replacing so sort of floods a lot) plus spending a little time clearing a particular work backlog.
