Hello!

Happy New Year, Happy New Thread

Oh @Mumtobabyhavoc Thanks what an awful time for you. I hope Havoc is much much better today and you and Baby escape it. ❤

WideOpenBeaches · 05/03/2026 10:53

@autumnangel i hope you have some sunshine today and you get a little more done.

@SingleThreadJoiner2 My strength training sessions only run for 45 minutes so if you subtract the warm up and stretching, it’s probably less than 45 minutes anyway.

So in my book, it’s a win 😁

I’ve failed with so many gym memberships over the years. If I commit and pay for the class, then I turn up. Learnt through experience.

It’s the flipping headspace that jobs take up in my brain. I expend far too much energy in making mental lists. Just want it all to stop.

Ohhh @Mumtobabyhavoc You poor thing. I wonder if you have some stuff called Hibiscrub? They use it in operating theatres I think but you can buy online. It’s not cheap but I used to have some under the sink that I used when we got struck with D&V.

Once I started using it, I managed to swerve most of the bugs.

These days I’d probably be donning a mask if it doesn’t scare the children.

Meanwhile grab some rest when you can.

autumnangel · 05/03/2026 13:13

Sending you massive hugs @Mumtobabyhavoc that sounds exhausting. Hope Havoc is on the mend soon.
I got up super early (like 4am early) this morning and went for a 10 mile walk. I have signed up to a sponsored 22 walk at the end of next month so I really need to get some decent miles in before then as I don't want to find myself so unfit I can't complete it.
As well as all the usual daily stuff I have also sorted my car insurance and now I'm off to work. Hopefully I'll have a spare 5 minutes to do a brain dump as my head is swimming with so many thoughts of people I need to contact, things I need to buy and things I need to do. Getting it all down on paper always seems to help make it all feel less daunting.

RunningKatie · 05/03/2026 13:26

Adding to the good wishes coming your way @Mumtobabyhavoc - hope that you've got some rest and manage to keep the germs at bay.
Busy day today - and the sun is shining which is glorious but also highlights the dust and dog nose prints on windows.
Nearly the weekend, thank heavens. I've just updated my weekend jobs list - anything to keep the "must do" monologue in my head quieter.
Tonight DH is out so I'm on dinner, washing up, lunches and dog walk duties. All totally fine and I might still get a bit of sofa snoozing done too.

That sounds miserable @Mumtobabyhavoc Sympathies from me!

Big best wishes to you all in your busy lives 💕

I am on track here. Lots of errands for work and home today. I've just been summoned by my mother as some post was not intercepted in time and now she's fretting about things she no longer understands. So I'm off too soothe her and sort whateveritis out.

Glorious day again 🌞

WinterFrogs · 05/03/2026 13:52

I'm every so slightly knackered and multi tasking. Didn't mean to quote @RunningKatie sorry

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 05/03/2026 13:56

Hope things are okay with your mum @WinterFrogs . I can imagine the worry she has if she does not understand something and is getting post about it. Lord knows I feel that way myself at times.

Tomorrow I have booked in another stealth maintenance that DH won't notice. Getting our patio pressure washed by the guy who does our windows. We were chatting about some of the very severe weather damage and stains on it and he said he has chemicals (that are even animal-friendly!) he can use which will bring it all back to like new. It's 30 years old, so I am prepared to take a very relaxed approach to 'like new' but I am looking forward to the improvement. That will happen tomorrow and if the results are good I'll make it an annual event.

Hope everyone is fine and well. It is most certainly spring in my part of the world!!!!

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 05/03/2026 13:59

Oh- and my life hack (this is too simple for words but has been lifechanging)

I'm keeping a complete spare set of toothbrushes and toothpaste for the entire family in the downstairs loo. The number of times we are about to leave for school when the DCs reveal they have not brushed their teeth... cue kicking off of shoes and vanishing upstairs for what seems like hours while I am tapping my foot and jingling car keys.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 05/03/2026 15:49

Thank you for the support everyone. 💛
Looks like I've caught it.
I'm sipping tea and have taken a kids' Gravol (so, low dose) to prevent further 🤮. Not planning on eating anything so hopefully won't need to keep running to the bathroom.
I have to take my car to the shop shortly. My mechanic is retiring in a couple weeks.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 05/03/2026 16:00

Ugh. Have now cancelled car appt.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 05/03/2026 16:09

Mumtobabyhavoc · 04/03/2026 23:43

So lovely to hear from you @autumnangel 💛 and @SpiritOfEdna 🩷

@mumofoneAloneandwell are you and DD okay? 🩷🤔

I took Havoc to Emerg last night due to intense vomiting. 😥 Had to do a significant clean-up first as Havoc came out of bathroom and vomited in the hallway. So floor, baseboards and walls. Garbage taken out. Gave Havoc a bath. Bag packed including change of clothes, towels and vomit bags for the car. Another round of vomiting before we could go and arrived to hosp around 9:30pm or so. A couple more rounds of same at hosp, one all over a bathroom as didn't get to toilet in time, got anti nausea meds around 11pm, doctor around 1am who said it was viral, yada yada yada, but come back if worsens, and then the D started. 😵‍💫🤦‍♀️😫 Poor Havoc had no idea what was going on. 😥 Got all cleaned up, new Pull-Up I was just putting my coat on to go and D again. 😭 Got all cleaned up again, lovely nurse found a diaper and an adult size small Pull-Up so I layered Havoc up and we were home around 2:30am. Brushed Havoc's teeth and put to bed. I was wide awake by then, so y'know, chips and chocolate for solace, 🫣 checked on Havoc around 5am and D, so off to clean up again, put back to bed, cleaned and sanitized bathroom and got into bed around 6am. Had to call to cancel GP appt as obv wouldn't be able to drive and managed about 90 mins sleep before getting up with the kids. The V just started again, so I've cleaned Havoc up and given kids' Gravol. Have cleaned and bleached bathroom. Towels/cleaning cloths in the wash with bleach as well. And have already washed and hung up our clothes and shoes worn to hosp last night and all the laundry that was in the basket.

I really need a grocery shop done, ugh. Car to shop tomorrow so I will be busy enough to squeeze in shopping. 😭

Have also taken a look at the garden and need to decide what to plant. It's still frosty here, though.

I've fallen off the thread, so havent caught up!

How is Havoc now??

I'm so sorry, I know its tough when they're sick but especially when it feels chronic like that. How are you feeling today? And the baby?

I know you must be exhausted but you've done amazingly - hope you can sleep when they sleep.

You reminded me of the first time dd was vomiting (beyond the baby stage) - her little face was super confused, she has no idea what was going on. Something that always makes me chuckle when shes poorly.

Love to you all on the thread, and to the Havocs, praying this bug passes quickly for you all ❤️

Oh sorry, I saw this after my post.

I'm poorly myself, I've got:

Cold and flu tablets
Vicks vapour rub
Cup a soup
Throat lozenges

And lots of screen time and sweets and chicken nuggets to keep dd occupied whilst I lay watching her. You've got this, and it will pass, hopefully quickly ❤️

WinterFrogs · 05/03/2026 20:34

Night night everyone. Sorry you've caught it @Mumtobabyhavoc It's kind of inevitable, you poor thing 😞
And @mumofoneAloneandwell I hope all those meds and a rest do the trick!

Loving the stealth maintenance @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia Reminds me that I also do quite a lot of things by stealth. Certainly when mother was still in her home i did a lot by stealth. Sneaking in rehydrating foods a fluid etc. She got crafty though amd knew when she was being managed.

She's been soothed.

My flylady routines ticked off. Not anything else though. We just got our food caddy for recycling so emptying it and replacing the compostable back has been added to the list. I like it as the big bin doesn't need emptying nearly as often.

Time to read now.

Lovely to 'see' you @SpiritOfEdna Life does take over sometimes 💐

SpiritOfEdna · 05/03/2026 20:43

@Mumtobabyhavoc Poor havoc family hope you are all feeling better soon xx and you too @mumofoneAloneandwell hope there’s blankie to go with that list and cozy pyjamas x

FurForksSake · 05/03/2026 20:47

@Mumtobabyhavoc you poor lot, I really hope you catch a break soon!!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 06/03/2026 01:44

Thanks, everyone. Baby started vomiting two hours ago, roughly every 10 minutes. I'm giving sips of water for now. No fever. Havoc has the D part and has fallen asleep on the couch.
How does everyone get through this? 😥

WinterFrogs · 06/03/2026 07:57

Oh @Mumtobabyhavoc that is a lot to deal with! I don't think we ever all went down with anything all at once! But I think you just do only what you absolutely must, and rest as much as you can. They Havocs with probably be quite weary and so not be bouncing all over you or demanding to be taken out, so make the most of it and rest.

I'm all smug, was up early and have done exercises, changed bedding, ticked off morning routines and I've been sitting about updating various threads. Must get going now.

Today is the day I repot my fern...

What else 🤔 I think possibly sort out coats and shoes in the entrance area.

Have a lovely day all and hope @mumofoneAloneandwell and @Mumtobabyhavoc start feeling better very soon!

Baital · 06/03/2026 07:58

Sending virtual strength to the Havic household...

It's officially spring chez Baital - I mowed the lawn yesterday!

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 06/03/2026 13:13

Morning all. I hope so much that the Family Havoc are all much much better today. Thanks

It's particularly hard when you are all down with it and feeling so grim yourself.

Best wishes to everyone else also.

The patio has been done and it looks amazing. It's a completely different coliur- I'd forgotten the original colour! This morning before cleaning the slabs were the colour of very dark black concrete. It was covered in moss and lichen. Now they look like this attached. It really had made the most extraordinary difference. So I am very pleased and will get a quote for doing our path to the front door, and around the side and back as well. So this will be an annual event for sure. I am ashamed to admit that since I have lived here It's only been cleaned once and that was by me using soap and an outdoor broom. My mantra for 2026 is going to be 'Delegate, Delegate, Delegate'.

RunningKatie · 06/03/2026 17:40

That sounds a real success @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia
Hope the Havoc family are on the mend soon, it sounds like it's struck you all down so fast. Fingers crossed we've never had the same situation too, the dc seem to have inherited their dads cast iron stomachs. Clearly tempting fate there!
Hurrah for the weekend, got a takeaway ordered, a list of tasks for tomorrow afternoon and the vague idea of a gin later this evening. Hope everyone has lovely plans too.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 06/03/2026 17:46

All good here thanks @SpiritOfEdna and @WinterFrogs

@SpringingIntoSummerLobelia jetwashing is a thing of magic honestly

Today just cleaning non stop - feeling the spring mood myself 🌻🌻

@Mumtobabyhavoc how are you all today?

Love to all xx

Mumtobabyhavoc · 06/03/2026 18:37

Grim, is right Lobelia. My poor mum has gone back to bed. Havoc was lying on the bathroom floor earlier saying, Mummy help me my tummy is hot. 😥 Baby is is good spirits and isn't phased by the D. Thank god the V has stopped for the 3 of us and hoping my mum doesn't get that part. 🤞 She has Crohn's, so this kind of bug can really cause problems for her.

We obviously picked this up at the kids' school. The teacher told me the d&v had gone through the class and she got it as well. I'm wondering why a deep clean of the class wasn't done and why parents are bringing their kids in when ill, though.

Speaking of deep clean... I don't think I've bleached so much before. Toilet, sink and floor have been wiped down multiple times and towels/cloths in an extra long hot water wash with bleach.

All I can smell is jam donuts, though. 🤔😂

Baital · 06/03/2026 18:47

D&V is horrible, even when you know intellectually it will pass. Even worse for babas

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 07/03/2026 08:34

Friends- my laptop charger is kaput. I've ordered another one but it's not coming for a few days. so if I vanish from the thread that's why!

Best wishes to you all. Thanks

WinterFrogs · 07/03/2026 08:49

Hello!
@Baital a couple of our neighbours mowed their lawns this week and the scent is heavenly. It really feels like spring. Our garden is still too wet to mow. The front would probably be ok 🤔

Great projecting with the jet washer ( also the delegating) @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia Hope you are back soon! We are so reliant on tech.

Love out to all of you especially unwell ones 💕

I hope you enjoyed the takeaway @RunningKatie 😋 DH wanted to go out last night to eat because it was his turn to cook and he thought he couldn't be bothered, then he discovered we had duck breasts on their sell by date so he did that. It's his speciality. With oven chips and a bit of salad. So we are not entirely processed food free here but it's getting close. Well I am. He still eats bread like it's going out of fashion.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend! Lots of people on the flylady threads are using the finch app and apparently you can add friends on there, using user names. I am considering looking into it. Apparently it's quite good.
