I do love the twists and turns on this thread 💕
In an effort to turn my life around I have posted on the gardening forum as I'd like to start but I am completely clueless. And on @FurForksSake's exercise thread for accountability.
And from tomorrow I am in charge of the Flylady thread in Housekeeping for a month!

Hugs to you @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia and @FurForksSake 💐

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/02/2026 18:34

Hi, lovely thread friends. 🩷
There's a bit too much to catch up on and comment on, so I'll give 🫂💐 to those needing it and 🤗🤗🤗 for everything achieved -- sometimes that's getting up and dressed. 🩷🩷

Thanks for the kind well-wishes. 😘😘😘
I had a fever of over 40c on Thursday with chills and stayed in bed until getting up to make dinner. Yesterday was lots of coughing and snot. 🤧😷 But contractor had to come by to finish work, so Lysol amd masks it was.

I'm a bit better 🤞 and hoping it's not a ruse, so folded some clothes and emptied the heaping laundry basket into the machine. Vacuumed and wiped kitchen floor last night. Did a very quick Costco run yesterday as well as didn't have enough in the fridgeto last til Monday and I try to avoid weekend shopping if at all poss unless it's just before closing.

I'm going to get the kids out to the park while I'm on the up as I don't know how long it will last, but the fresh air is bound to help snd poor dc have been cooped up at home past few days now.

It's sunny and 6c here at 10:30am. ☀️⛅️

WideOpenBeaches · 28/02/2026 20:34

@SpringingIntoSummerLobelia and @FurForksSake I had no idea you both had Fibromyalgia. What an awful disease. I use that term loosely as I’m not sure what it’s classified as but huge sympathies to you both.

Glad you’re in one piece @Mumtobabyhavoc It’s a tough gig being unwell with little ones in tow. (Got the t shirt!)

I have to pace myself more these days. Not sure if it’s old age or a myriad of food intolerances that I have. I try and avoid dairy and gluten but it’s very hard outside the house.

Certainly I have to pace myself, especially emotionally. After seeing a mentee, I cannot file a report until the next day.
I have to lie on the sofa watching Escape to the Country for several episodes before I can communicate with anyone!

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 01/03/2026 05:33

Morning all.

Hope so much you are on the mend today @Mumtobabyhavoc Thanks

I understand the emotional exhaustion @WideOpenBeaches -particularly with such important yet harrowing work you do. ❤

I hope you found your precious button @RunningKatie Thanks

Hi and best wishes to everyone. xx

WinterFrogs · 03/03/2026 07:22

Hello everyone 👋
I hope you are feeling better @Mumtobabyhavoc 💐

@WideOpenBeaches ❤️

Where is our @SpiritOfEdna I hope you are ok 🙏 Are you still training for the Camino trail?

I have had no chocolate or crisps for ages but have turned my lack of 'off' button to cheese so have lost no further weight. Must see to that today! And also put the brakes on fruit consumption. But it's good to have kicked the 'coke habit'.

Still no nothing extra 😫 But better at routines so the house is not chaos.

Today I absolutely definitely will clear off the top of the 'chester draws' in my bedroom ( it serves as a dressing table) In fact, i shall heave the cat off me and attend to it immediately.

And then do connections (out of routine - how will I cope...)

WideOpenBeaches · 03/03/2026 07:41

‘Morning all ☺️
Love the ‘Chester drawers’ @WinterFrogs Hope you’re now hard at work rummaging around in them as I type.

How are you doing @Mumtobabyhavoc ?

My weakness on the food front is crisps. Anything salty. Between 6-7pm is my danger time. I mean, I just need to FLIPPIN STOP BUYING THEM… dont I? ☺️ (Best finish off the ones I already have first…)

Time comes around quickly and I’m seeing my mentee again this morning. Quite worried about her in that she’s not really moving forward despite my help. In a lot of cases (mine included) it’s just a question of time…possibly quite a long time and my supposed ‘allocation’ of 4-6 visits doesn’t even touch the sides. We’re already on visit 7 and no sign that she’s able to stand on her own 2 feet.

HoHum. I’ve tried a bit of tough love, but her eyes fill with tears and I back down.

Thanks for listening. 🥰

Other jobs are car service booked for lunchtime and a nice walk while it’s being done as my step count has been terrible recently, then online meditation session later (which will keep me away from the crisps!)

Have a lovely and maybe gently productive day everyone.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 03/03/2026 17:37

Good morning, everyone. 🌧️
Feeling better, but a bit of a chest cough.
Thanks for all the kind thoughts. 🩷
Took kids to school yesterday and Havoc to playground and a walk while Baby slept and not much else.
Need to run to oncology clinic for my mum's medication and pick up a sports poster for team Havoc is on this morning and then we're all off as an entourage to my mum's ophthalmology appt after lunch.
Have emptied laundry basket into the wash, given the kids that lovely seeded whole wheat sourdough bread, I think I previously mentioned it, toasted with butter & PB with grapes and strawberries for breakfast and made a pot of steel cut oats which I've dished up for my mum with maple syrup, cinnamon, banana and strawberry.
It's fairly tidy here. I vacuumed yesterday after handyman was here to fix the door to the deck and I cleaned the bathroom on Sunday.
I think I'll take the kids on my errands and squeeze in some play.

I also noticed we haven't heard from lovely and adventurous @SpiritOfEdna 🤔

FurForksSake · 03/03/2026 18:55

Thanks for sharing that and I’m glad you toys are all feeling better @Mumtobabyhavoc.

interestingly I’ve just started vitamin d again, physio recommended it and told me that if ylu are low on vitamin d it can make it harder to absorb other nutrients. I’m encouraged to continue!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 03/03/2026 19:05

I also want to share this article about treatment bias:

https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/women-and-pain-disparities-in-experience-and-treatment-2017100912562#:~:text=Women%20with%20chronic%20pain%20may,when%20having%20a%20heart%20attack.

ETa: it's good to become educated ourselves and share our research from trusted legitimate medical research sources with our own GP's who need to be on our side to prescribe and refer appropriately and proactively. 💛

BerfyTigot · 03/03/2026 20:40

Thanks for that @Mumtobabyhavoc

Ive recently been prescribed vitamin d and calcium together. It's only been a month, will be interested to see if it helps.

WinterFrogs · 03/03/2026 20:46

Hugs to you @WideOpenBeaches I can feel how draining that is from here. You sound highly empathetic so i am glad you take the time to care for yourself.

I am so glad you're on the up @Mumtobabyhavoc and thank you for the links.

I hope the supplements help @BerfyTigot and @FurForksSake 🙏

I'm happy with what i have achieved today 😁 And the people I have seen and spoken to 💕

It's been so lovely and springy!

WideOpenBeaches · 03/03/2026 21:43

Ahh thank you @WinterFrogs My lady cancelled my visit this morning… luckily before I’d left home but I was a bit indecisive about what to do with my morning after that.

I had to take my car into town for a service so picked up a few birthday cards and a couple of presents, took some stuff to the charity shop and a zip up jacket to the tailor to get a new zip inserted. It would ALMOST be cheaper to get a new jacket…

So all in all, I’ve achieved a few things.

Peridot1 · 04/03/2026 04:57

Hi all. Still in Australia so haven’t been on line much. Currently away in a lovely Airbnb with my friends north of Sydney in an area called Port Stephen’s. Went on a dolphin watching cruise this morning which was lovely.

Daily Project Round 9
Mumtobabyhavoc · 04/03/2026 06:58

@Peridot1 So glad to hear you are having such a great time! 🤗 I hope you are stuffing yourself on prawn sarnies and bevvies of choice. xx 😋

WinterFrogs · 04/03/2026 07:43

@WideOpenBeaches you have reminded me that I could and probably should get a zip replace in an ariat jacket that's probably more expensive to replace than getting it fixed (just!)
Why do zips go?! It is such a faff on an otherwise sound piece of clothing. I say we should all go back to buttons. Even I can sew one of those on.

Looks lovely @Peridot1 😍 I agree with @Mumtobabyhavoc about stuffing yourself!

Washed down my front door yesterday as per flylady. And the chest if drawer did finally get cleared. A spot of dining room decluttering is in my future today. Plus a few errands to pick things up for mother, and a coffee with a friend.

But first, Wordle and Connections. And perhaps another cuppa though that will disturb the cat! He's so comfy!

WideOpenBeaches · 04/03/2026 08:14

My jacket was a Rohan fleece backed merino jacket. I bought it slightly too big and it’s too long on me too. Because the zip is one way, I cannot unzip from the bottom when I sit down, so the whole thing bunches up across my tummy and chest. Drove me mad on a flight a few weeks ago.

I get home, wash it, and forget about it. Been meaning to do it for ages.

Tailor said to replace the zip with a 2 way zip would be £££ so we agreed to shorten the existing one by about 3 inches.

@WinterFrogs Just check that Ariat doesn’t have an in house team doing repairs like Barbour or Dubarry. I’ve had great success with sending stuff back to Montagne. They do an excellent job as they know their product. One DC used to shred his outdoor gear as he did a lot of downhill biking.

SpiritOfEdna · 04/03/2026 09:16

@WinterFrogs and@Mumtobabyhavoc thank you for spotting I wasn't around - snowed under with work stuff plus training for an event so not much time for anything other than driving round the NW looking for bathroom stuff - need to decide soon but very indecisive. It should ease up soon and I'll be back in full swing xx I'll have a read back today to see what I've missed you busy lot 😃x have a good day, SoE

This week is crawling at glacial speed, my work IT issues of last week are still not resolved. It's very frustrating.
Yesterday was a busy day of prescription collection, washing, and sorting life admin.
Today I've started changing DC2s bed, updated the shopping list and made a plan for evening tasks.

autumnangel · 04/03/2026 17:20

Hello, me again 👋
I can't remember the last time I was on this thread, it's been a while so I won't be able to catch up. Hope you're all doing ok.
I've been off work today and done nothing except brush my teeth and put a wash on (still currently in the machine). I know it's ok to have days like this but I feel rubbish and I know I'll feel better if I get up and get moving. I'm going to set my alarm for 2 hours and come back and tell you all about the wonderful things I have achieved between now and then 💪

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 04/03/2026 17:25

Hugs dear @autumnangel

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 04/03/2026 17:29

Strength to you @autumnangel

I went to the gym earlier - I was there for barely 40 minutes, and really had to persuade myself that it was still a useful thing to have done, even if it wasn't a whole hour.

Not much here. Keeping on top of laundry. Trying to keep on top of building work and project management at parents' flat. Too much going on at work to handle anything more than that!

autumnangel · 04/03/2026 20:36

Thank you @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia & @SingleThreadJoiner2
Sound like you've got a lot going on @SingleThreadJoiner2 so well done for even making it to the gym.
I've tidied the whole house, there's bags to be taken to the dump and more piles of 'stuff' than ever before. Every cupboard and drawer needs to be sorted through but that's for another day. Tonight I'm on the couch watching tv and hoping tomorrow might be slightly more productive.

FurForksSake · 04/03/2026 20:45

I planted some irises today, because they were trying to grow out the box they were delivered in three weeks ago. Oops. Got loads of summer bulbs to plant. Might try to get some in tomorrow.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 04/03/2026 23:43

So lovely to hear from you @autumnangel 💛 and @SpiritOfEdna 🩷

@mumofoneAloneandwell are you and DD okay? 🩷🤔

I took Havoc to Emerg last night due to intense vomiting. 😥 Had to do a significant clean-up first as Havoc came out of bathroom and vomited in the hallway. So floor, baseboards and walls. Garbage taken out. Gave Havoc a bath. Bag packed including change of clothes, towels and vomit bags for the car. Another round of vomiting before we could go and arrived to hosp around 9:30pm or so. A couple more rounds of same at hosp, one all over a bathroom as didn't get to toilet in time, got anti nausea meds around 11pm, doctor around 1am who said it was viral, yada yada yada, but come back if worsens, and then the D started. 😵‍💫🤦‍♀️😫 Poor Havoc had no idea what was going on. 😥 Got all cleaned up, new Pull-Up I was just putting my coat on to go and D again. 😭 Got all cleaned up again, lovely nurse found a diaper and an adult size small Pull-Up so I layered Havoc up and we were home around 2:30am. Brushed Havoc's teeth and put to bed. I was wide awake by then, so y'know, chips and chocolate for solace, 🫣 checked on Havoc around 5am and D, so off to clean up again, put back to bed, cleaned and sanitized bathroom and got into bed around 6am. Had to call to cancel GP appt as obv wouldn't be able to drive and managed about 90 mins sleep before getting up with the kids. The V just started again, so I've cleaned Havoc up and given kids' Gravol. Have cleaned and bleached bathroom. Towels/cleaning cloths in the wash with bleach as well. And have already washed and hung up our clothes and shoes worn to hosp last night and all the laundry that was in the basket.

I really need a grocery shop done, ugh. Car to shop tomorrow so I will be busy enough to squeeze in shopping. 😭

Have also taken a look at the garden and need to decide what to plant. It's still frosty here, though.
