I’m confused- has the US gone to war with them? What are the implications if so?

@MargaretThursday are you familiar with the details of what life has been like for the ordinary Venezuelan under Maduro?

For all you communists posting on here (majority of MN) just look on line at how happy the Venezualian people are before you start hating on Trump

Of course they will be happy and who can blame them. But if you think Trump has done this for the benefit of ordinary Venezuelans, you are deluded.

Well exactly. Lots of unhappy Brits here! Should he take London or somewhere else first?

He doesn’t need to liberate us as his smear campaign against Starmer and co has been exceptionally effective and Farage will be in his back pocket.

Cotswolds? Vance seemed to like it 🎣

SemiRetiredLoveGoddeess · 03/01/2026 18:08

About oil. These wars usually are.

Scotland, surely.⛳

Ach he’d never take Scotland
We would just need a few wee mad Glaswegians to take on those American special operations forces … job done!

It is madness to see some of these posts. They can’t even vote him out or protest without harm.

Why not install the government (with US support) that ordinary Venezuelans elected?

Well, exactly. But that doesn't seem to be what is going to happen.

Carpedimum · 03/01/2026 18:13

I have Venezuelan acquaintances, they have been waiting for this for 25 years and are celebrating hard right now.

That’s beside the point entirely. Trump has hardly taken over out of the goodness of his heart or his abiding love of the people of Venezuela

Reuters is reporting that she is in Russia! Wtf is going on?

Venezuela vice president Rodriguez in Russia, four sources say | Reuters https://share.google/VOqPAmSnbcWRDxKV0

Yes. What is going on.

The vast majority of cocaine coming through Venezuela is headed for Europe, where it's worth more money. If they want to stop Fentanyl, they're going to have to take on China, Canada and Mexico.

MAGA might also be somewhat taken aback that Trump pardoned the man who did actually traffic 400 tonnes of cocaine into the US.

He said that's for personal use.

And they are also not going to get the government they voted for. So much for Trump restoring democracy.

😂

If he gave Trump a little cut, it might help him stay awake in cabinet meetings

And they never ever lie (although might be telling the truth this time)

Teddleshon1 · 03/01/2026 18:18

@EasternStandard even Ali Khamenei has said that the protesters have legitimate issues so it’s quite the take to apparently deny that!

It’s estimated that around 50 women haven been hanged in Iran for defying this regime. I wish the protestors every ounce of strength and fortitude.

For anyone who hasn’t seen it I wholeheartedly recommend “The seed of the ancient fig” which was partially covertly filmed on the streets of Tehran.

I was wondering what the actual people there were thinking. Not U.K. mners on what they should think.

Those hangings are devastating. Idk how any poster can ignore that.

If you believe that trump has done it for the ordinary people then you are seriously deluded.
My point was that people welcoming a new regime does not necessarily mean it's a good thing, which I suspect was clear to everyone else.

There are ways that other countries could have supported them without taking their oil military action that is certainly at the outside of legal if not directly illegal.

There are times when removing a dictator can cause issues. I spoke to a gentleman who was from Iraq. He was no supporter of Saddam Hussain, but said removing him in that way was the worst thing that could have happened for Iraq. Removing SH meant that others, who were far more extreme had the way cleared to step into his place and they caused far more issues.
He was here because he had had to flee Iraq because of death threats because of the section of society he belonged to. He left, after death threats, on the day his house was blown up with his family inside. As he sat outside, his phone rang. "You're next" the voice told him. He drove to the airport and got on a plane.

It's not something that should be done on a whim because someone wants to get their hands on the country's wealth and certainly doesn't care about the people that will be effected by this.

Ok cool. Let's bomb them into freedom. Nobody really needs stability do they. Lovely civil wars are always brilliant for women.

We don’t have enough oil left to warrant a full scale invasion. Sorry “liberation”.

Probably to early to ask but are they going to be happy with the US appointing Maduro's VP and not the elected Gonzalez?
