I’m confused- has the US gone to war with them? What are the implications if so?

I wish Trump was as serious about Iran as Venezuela.

It’s great to hear that Mossad might be acting on the ground against the rule of the crazy deathmongers in Iran. But I doubt the Iranian people can topple the regime without US military help.

'Crazy deathermongers in Iran', also 'great to hear that Mossad might be acting on the ground...'

Do you realise how ironic your statements are?! I guess not.

I feel really sorry for the ordinary Americans. All they wanted is a president who would concentrate on the US, particularly the US economy for ordinary working people, as opposed to the S&P500.
Instead, DJT seems to be focussed on multiple wars abroad to try to grab resources.

I do too, tariffs, prospect of 50 year mortgages, chance of their children being drafted. Trump played a good game and was extremely convincing with his no more wars. I know many American's both Republican and Democrat who are so dejected right now with the direction of their country.

DuncinToffee · 03/01/2026 16:58

Trump: “We’re going to have our very large United States oil companies—the biggest anywhere in the world—go in and spend billions of dollars to fix the badly broken infrastructure, the oil infrastructure, and start making money for the country.”

Drugs? Starving people?

No, OIL

Yes, but ordinary Americans didn't really have an excuse for not knowing who or what he is.

People in Iran are uprising, Venezuelans protested too after the ‘24 election.

Pp seem to me ignoring how people feel, I’m not sure why.

nomas · 03/01/2026 17:02

No wonder the USA are licking Putin’s arse, they knew they were going to attack Venezuela.

And they haven’t gone to war WITH Venezuela, OP, the USA has attacked Venezuela.

The media saying the Venezuelan President has been ‘captured’ is also propagandist bullshit, he’s been kidnapped by the USA.

You think Iranians want the Mossad to attack them? How deluded.

That’s your post not mine. What do you think of Iranians rising up out of interest

A quote from a Guardian article:

In early December, the Trump administration published what it called the “Trump corollary”, which said that the western hemisphere must be controlled by the US politically, economically, commercially and militarily. As part of the new Trump doctrine, the US military can be used to gain access to energy and mineral resources in the area.

Bloody worrying.

How is it my post? Denizen said ‘great to hear that Mossad might be acting on the ground...' and you seemed to agree by saying ‘people in Iran are uprising’ and ‘Pp seem to me ignoring how people feel, I’m not sure why.’

What did you mean?

Nothing new whatsoever. The whole ‘weapons of mass destruction’ charade in the ME was just an excuse for Cheney and his cronies to annex oil reserves, but they bullied/begged other countries to get involved (including Tony ‘I’m definitely not a war criminal’ Blair) just to give them a veil of propriety.

Trump gives less than zero fucks about propriety, but other than that it’s just good ol’ US oil business as usual. He’s testing boundaries every which way and I honestly think his ultimate goal is a bare-faced carve up of the planet and its resources between him, Putin and Xi Jinping.

Agree
China takes Africa and the East
USA takes Greenland/Canada/LA

Putin takes Europe.

Let's ask Greta who says she wants an Intifada.

Press conference

Trump on Venezuela: "We're going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper, and judicious transition"

So much for the people of Venezuela and democracy

Quite. I wonder how long it will be before it’s deemed ok to hand back power to the Venezuelans.

And run it how? Civil servants? Military on the ground? Will they name someone (an American?) as in charge of Venezuela, like a colonial governor type role? Are they now running the education system? The taxes? The police? What are the practicalities of just “we run this country now”.

EasternStandard · 03/01/2026 17:13

Are you aware of geopolitics at all?

Do you see what’s happening in terms of power, it’s not my bloody choice ffs.

Cherrysoup · 03/01/2026 17:14

Absolutely terrifying for Greenland 🙁

Let's ask Greta who says she wants an Intifada.

That post below is ridiculous. Yes let’s all get on mn and chat about Ocado and puppies I much prefer that, I don’t back any wars.

And yet leaders are committing all sorts of atrocities and building AI and military capability that is incredibly powerful. None of it my bloody choice.

Trump and his ego. And oil. Always oil.

As I understand it, Trump has decided that Venezuela are importing drugs into the US and it's suddenly an emergency. So the US has been attacking/seizing/blocking Venezualan boats in the Caribbean and Pacific and the strikes are an escalation of this.

Some people think it's all an excuse to overthrow the current government and claim the oil.

There are debates about whether the US is acting legally (such an odd phrase when it comes to war).

who ever is right, if there was no drugs etc then trump could not do what he is doing etc

Wonder whether Stammer will be standing 'shoulder to shoulder' with the great one ?

dapsnotplimsolls · 03/01/2026 17:19

So, who is actually in charge of the country right now?
