What did you eat today?
I love reading what people have (and getting new ideas/recipes).
My new year new habit is to have a side of veg with each meal (and eat it first).

Breakfast - Sourdough toast with soft cheese & bagel seasoning, side of cucumber/tomatoes,

Snack - Crisps

Lunch - Stovies with beetroot (traditional in my part of Scotland)

Snack - Christmas choc (trying to get through this)

Teatime snack - Bowl of homemade lentil & veg soup, a couple of crackers

Dinner - I am going to a pub quiz so will have a wee something to eat from their bar bites menu!

I’m awake seething following comments made by DM tonight in front on my teenage girls.

Had tea, 3 slices wholemeal toast with some honey DM brought in for breakfast.

Lunch happened after a 40 minute walk out and consisted of 5 small bits of cheese, quince paste and a slice of homemade Christmas cake.

We had dinner out so lovely pork belly in black bean sauce with rice and stir fried broccoli and garlic.

Had coffee and a perfectly sensible sized slice of left over baked chocolate cheesecake from New Years Day dinner with raspberries and a teaspoon of crème fraiche when we got home as we settled down to watch tv. DM then says “no wonder you’re so overweight, look at the size of that”. I could have swung for her. She’s so damn critical of everything since she passed the age of 70. Now mid 80s and just can’t help but be snarky all the time about how people look.

Yes, I’m overweight and apple shaped. But I’m fit, and normally eat well. It hit a nerve though as I comfort eat due to issues from my childhood. She’s going home tomorrow thankfully unless the roads are bad in which case I will be screaming into the void.

Both teenagers were appalled and came and gave me a cuddle as I ate my pudding in peace in another room.

That’s a lot of meals and snacks. And how is lentil soup a snack anyway…
Sorry! I know I sound mean... You can add all the veg but eating six times a day is mind blowing to me. Especially on a short day.
I’ve had two meals today (one you’d probably consider snacking) and I don’t have time or appetite to eat again.

Do you not enjoy food?

Lentil soup was a very nice, healthy and warming snack 😊
