What did you eat today?
I love reading what people have (and getting new ideas/recipes).
My new year new habit is to have a side of veg with each meal (and eat it first).

Breakfast - Sourdough toast with soft cheese & bagel seasoning, side of cucumber/tomatoes,

Snack - Crisps

Lunch - Stovies with beetroot (traditional in my part of Scotland)

Snack - Christmas choc (trying to get through this)

Teatime snack - Bowl of homemade lentil & veg soup, a couple of crackers

Dinner - I am going to a pub quiz so will have a wee something to eat from their bar bites menu!

Breakfast full fat Greek yogurt, chia seeds, walnuts and a little maple syrup

Lunch cold homemade salad of green lentils mixed with quinoa with pomegranate seeds, roasted sprouts, roast carrots and red onion , pistachio with a dressing made with lemon, honey and oil
Tea roasted cabbage and bean salad with tahini.

AltitudeCheck · 06/01/2026 17:33

Mushroom soup, with added lentils and a slice of Aldi protein bread.
Huel protein shake
Collagen coffee
Lots of teas and coffee because it's bloody freezing today!
Kefir protein yogurt with berries and seeds.
Dinner is either tofu.and veg stir fry or https://www.thecoconut-tree.com/blog/recipe-vegetable-kotthu/
if I can be bothered to make rotti! I had it at the weekend and it was delicious, wondering if I'll be able to recreate it!

Gliblet · 06/01/2026 17:33

Still not sure if I've got something viral or a migraine but after a long period of not being able to keep anything down I've managed to eat some dry toast. It was unreasonably exciting. I'm thinking maybe plain crackers and a banana for dinner...

B: Granary toast and butter, a small banana, green tea with my collagen powder in and a cup of normal tea

L: 2 crackers with cheese, a slice of ham, rocket salad, baby cucumber, olives and a few pickled onions.

Snack: 2 dates stuffed with peanut butter and frozen

D: Home made roast tomato, red pepper and garlic soup, homemade bread roll. Followed by a couple of chocolates from a somewhat disappointing Hotel Chocolat box I got for Christmas

Your dinner yesterday sounds amazing, do you have a recipe?

I do -

rice (made without the chicken, although I sometimes make it with for a one pot meal) - I don't have a clay pot, so just do it on the hob in a le creuset pot - works fine

Chicken Mushroom Clay Pot Rice is a Chinese home-cooked comfort food recipe with mushrooms, wood ear, lily flower, & silky pieces of chicken!

Weetabix for breakfast, falafel and salad wrap with crisps for lunch, salmon pasta for dinner and a solero for dessert. Drinking a coffee now, trying not to grab some chocolate 🙈

TryingAgain2026 · 06/01/2026 19:53

I don’t eat breakfast.

Lunch - a toastie with pastrami, coleslaw, sliced gherkins and some cheese. I’m obsessed with these! I had it on seeded whole meal bread from Aldi

Snack- Greek yoghurt mixed with a scoop of chocolate powder, a tsp of natural yoghurt and a handful of dark choc chips

tea- spicy bean burger (no bun) with a portion of air fried crinkle chips and a massive salad drizzled with a garlic sauce. Half a grapefruit for after. I like it with a sprinkle of sugar

evening - a handful of quality street (despite them not tasting like they used to 🙁)

coffee throughout the day ☕️

applejar · 06/01/2026 20:15

@TryingAgain2026 why did you put the natural yoghurt in with the greek yoghurt? I'm curious.

I've given up buying quality st now, it makes me sad not to have them at Christmas, but the way they now taste and look also makes me sad.

TryingAgain2026 · 06/01/2026 20:21

@applejar haha, I meant natural peanut butter and it was a scoop chocolate protein to make this a high protein snack after my HIIT workout. It tastes like a dessert 😋 I didn’t spot the errors despite editing my post!

I agree. The new wrappings look really dull. I won't buy them again.

TryingAgain2026 · 06/01/2026 20:23

And the quality street were a gift, I refuse to buy them now. They are so small, sad looking and taste so cheap now. Not really sure why I ate them, tbf, it was the chewy toffee which is not as bad as the chocolates

AudTheDeepMinded · 06/01/2026 20:33

No breakfast as no time but had white instant coffee
Lunch morrocan cous cous, apple, two baby bells
Coffee
Tea
Supper was two fried eggs in a white roll with butter and ketchup

applejar · 06/01/2026 20:37

I get that the new paper wrappings are better for the environment... If they still tasted good I'd buy them despite the new wrappings. It's the fact they taste all waxy AND they've lost the nostalgia factor from the wrappings that's put me off for good. The old wrappers had a very specific smell and texture, as well as the bright colours, didn't they?

@TryingAgain2026 ahh I see! I thought maybe it was a gut-health boosting trick! I like peanut butter in Greek yoghurt, good choice 🙂

Mondal · 06/01/2026 20:49

Yeah they look so dull and unappealing plus they are smaller and just taste sweet. I had a green triangle one at Christmas and it was soo disappointing.
