January Daily Accountability!

Hi :) Is anyone interested in a thread where we post our daily to dos for January and update on what we managed to complete?

It doesn't have to be anything big, I think this is all about small steps and keeping plodding on through Jan. It's a good time to regroup and focus on what you want to do each day, with less mad dashes than December, and I need something to help me get back into the swing of things now Xmas is done. I also am quite nosy and like to see what little goals and habits people set themselves through the month...

I'll go first...today I need to:

  • Complete a work task I have been putting off
  • Go on a walk with my friend
  • Decide on what exercise classes I want to do this month and book them in

I'll update how this goes later!

Who's in?

@MorningBrew I think your dh would love a robot hoover 😉 good luck with your running.

@InfiniteJester yes a very well done 👏 to us indeed 🥳 a 6kg loss is amazing well done you 👏

@CarolwithoutanE how did you get on with your shit cupboard?

@Luddite26 hope your sciatica is better Flowers

@ThatWorthyNewt how was the gym and hope you enjoyed your rest day.

Well my list for yesterday went well and would you all believe it I even managed to sort out my towels and sheets 🥳 so that was a tick for everything yesterday.

Today's to do list

Drop charity bags into the charity shop, hopefully they are open after work because they just sort of make up their own hours which is a bit of a pain at times.

Read a chapter of my book

And.... make a full on Christmas 🎄 dinner for dinner tonight 😋 I've been in the mood for a Christmas dinner and was pleasantly surprised Tesco was still selling parsnips, turkey, stuffing so thought I would jazz up my life by having one in February.

Have a great day everyone 😀

CarolwithoutanE · 02/02/2026 22:32

@Ladymuckypuddleshit cupboard had 2 things binned and one sold on Vinted, but remains untouched. Bed building took longer than expected but managed to clear lots of stuff from DDs room. I did manage the deep clean of the fridge though.

Need to arrange a bulky waste collection for old bed tomorrow as that’s when the slots are released, failing that it’s a tip run. Once it’s gone I’ll do the cupboard.

This week there’s some bags and boxes to go in the loft.

Ladymuckypuddle · 02/02/2026 23:36

@CarolwithoutanE sounds like you are making good progress with your plan of action.

Everything ticked off my list today except the Christmas dinner as I am now full of the cold so a bowl of soup for dinner it was.

Tomorrow's to do list

Read a chapter of my book and that's it due to the cold.

I’m still here, but miles behind on everyone’s posts so will try to catch up on the thread later. Elderly dad has had some complications after his operation, elderly mum is not coping well, so I am spending a fair bit of time at theirs trying to sort appointments etc. DH’s nan died last week as well, so there’s lots to deal with on that side with arrangements to be made. DS2 isn’t dealing with it very well. Plus work is insanely busy, so I haven’t really had any time for self-care, exercise, etc.

I hope you are all doing marvellously! Just wanted to check in quickly and say I’m still here, just about!

Ladymuckypuddle · 05/02/2026 08:14

Crumbs @Eggsley life sounds really tough for you at the moment. Sending you some Flowers and a very unmumsnetty hug. I do hope you are managing to get even a little five minutes to yourself often to sit with a cuppa or a long hot shower to help you avoid burn out.

I've been in bed since Monday evening full of the flu safe to say my to do lists on hold.

Eggsley · 05/02/2026 22:21

I’ve actually had time this evening to catch up! You have all had a fabulously productive January, well done all for keeping it up! I am feeling inspired this evening by all your daily lists.

Parents were looking a lot better when I visited earlier, which has reduced my stress a bit. I am very much hoping they have turned a corner now. Also stayed a bit later at work today to catch up on some emails. Planning to get in early-ish tomorrow and work late to carry on the momentum. Won’t be visiting parents tomorrow as another relative is going, so should get a good solid day of work in.

@Ladymuckypuddlesorry to hear you have got the flu, there is so much of it about at the moment. Hope you are resting, as that’s the best thing you can do to help your recovery.

@ThatWorthyNewt @InfiniteJester @Luddite26 how are you all doing now that we are heading towards the end of the first week of Feb?

My list for tomorrow:
~ remember to take supplements
~ bed by 10pm
~ drink 2L of water

Very short and hopefully achievable! I have been so wrapped up in the chaos that the last three weeks or so has brought, I am hoping to use this weekend to catch up on the sleep I have been missing and do some bits around the house. Then hopefully will have a much clearer mind going into next week!

Eggsley · 05/02/2026 22:22

@Ladymuckypuddle thank you so much for the flowers and hug in your post, they were much needed and appreciated! xx

Luddite26 · 06/02/2026 11:49

Sorry to hear that you are going through it with your mum and dad. It's hard being the sandwich generation when you are doing the juggling. I hope you get some time over the weekend to get caught up at home and some home family time. Sorry about DH's Grandma it's a sad time. It's 13 years today since my gran died and every year I seem to miss them more. And I'm sorry for DS2 to be feeling it all. It's a hard time for a family. Your to do list sounds spot on. Although the supplements for me is the hardest thing to remember. Sending virtual hugs and flowers too.
Poor you @Ladymuckypuddle one minute you were going to make a Xmas dinner the next struck down with flu. That just about sums it up as to why we sometimes get nowhere with our lists.
I hope you are improving ?

It's been hectic again this week so don't feel like I have got any extras done and the cold and rain has been awful so no walks either but we went to a trampoline park Tuesday! Thankfully a weekday session was quiet I couldn't go in f it was packed! I was only supervising toddlers not partaking.
Hoover still doing well!
Today I want to
clean the downstairs windows
Clean the worktops
General tidy up after the kids go

Start on supplements again.
Best wishes to everyone. Hang in there it's Friday.

InfiniteJester · 08/02/2026 10:28

Good morning everyone,

Just catching up… With DH here it’s been a juggle, work, kids, fixing things around house. He leaves again tomorrow so my daily lists will restart.

@Ladymuckypuddledid you have your Christmas dinner? I still have turkey in the freezer & am tempted! Hope your flu has gone now.

@Eggsley Hope you are doing ok with your dad’s op & mum. Tricky times for you. 🌷

@ludditeThat’s an impressive list!

Me. Well, coming up to week 4 of my difficult Wednesdays, but at least they are appreciated. Today:

  • plant tulips (actually already did this!)
  • walk 5 km
  • mop kitchen floor
  • cook special lunch
  • organise online work (already done too, got up super early as it was causing me anxiety)
  • laundry

Longer term goals:

  • learn how to use Vinted
  • resale books (yes I have more!)
  • freezer sort
  • weed garden

Happy Sundays everyone. Spring is here!

Luddite26 · 08/02/2026 12:46

@InfiniteJester as Meatloaf said 2 out of 3 ain't bad but I only got the general tidy up done 2 out of 3 didn't get done! So carry them on to tonight's list!

I hope you enjoy your day with DH and well done at making a start on your list already.
I too have the long term goal of weeding the garden. Hopefully won't be long all the bulbs are pushing through. One day last week I popped out and when I got back some beautiful blue iris had come out brave souls in the cold and wet.

Hope everyone has a good afternoon and Sunday evening.

Eggsley · 08/02/2026 23:12

Thanks @Luddite26 your kind words are much appreciated. I’m sorry for the loss of your gran too. It’s 27 years next month since I lost my grandma, she would have loved my boys so much. I can’t believe it’s been so many years. What supplements do you take? I take a few but it’s the collagen powder I keep forgetting to take as I need to add it to a drink.

@InfiniteJester weeding the garden is also on my list but it has been so unbelievably wet here, everything is just a sodden, muddy mess. Looking forward to drier days so I can get outside a bit more!

How are you feeling @Ladymuckypuddle? And how are you getting on @ThatWorthyNewt?

I had quite a chilled weekend, visited the parents both days and they seem to be doing a bit better. My aunt is staying for a few days so that seems to have lifted their spirits. I read a whole book yesterday, my first this year!
I did get to bed by 10pm last night and had a good night’s sleep but still feeling exhausted.

Tomorrow’s goals:
~ remember supplements
~ bed by 10pm
~ 2L water
~ DS2 spellings
~ change our bed

Keeping it simple and hopefully achievable. Have got a busy day at work tomorrow as well.

Good luck everyone for a productive Monday!

InfiniteJester · 15/02/2026 15:14

Hello all! It’s been a few days and I can feel my good habits slowly unravelling… DH left on Monday and I’ve been a bit lonely since. Would anyone like to check in with lists? Hope you are all keeping well! 🌷
