January Daily Accountability!

ThatWorthyNewt · 02/01/2026 08:38

Hi :) Is anyone interested in a thread where we post our daily to dos for January and update on what we managed to complete?

It doesn't have to be anything big, I think this is all about small steps and keeping plodding on through Jan. It's a good time to regroup and focus on what you want to do each day, with less mad dashes than December, and I need something to help me get back into the swing of things now Xmas is done. I also am quite nosy and like to see what little goals and habits people set themselves through the month...

I'll go first...today I need to:

  • Complete a work task I have been putting off
  • Go on a walk with my friend
  • Decide on what exercise classes I want to do this month and book them in

I'll update how this goes later!

Who's in?

Hello, everyone,
Trying to keep Sundaynight-itis away. Busy weekend with DCs here. Lovely to have their company, a bit like Christmas again. Nice food, full fridge, Scrabble games, films, cuddles on sofa, long walks, Sunday lunch in local pub (was tempted by glass of wine but NO! DryJan rules) and fun walk around town. Drove everyone back to their various places and then me home to plan diary for this week. Changed the beds again, did a few loads of laundry, bit of cleaning. Busy week ahead.

Tomorrow I am wfh. My list (not necessarily in this order):

  • walk
  • ab exercises
  • prepare work for Wednesday
  • send important work email (drafted this earlier)
  • online task 1A and task 2A, then online task 1B and 2B
  • practice presentation for Thursday
  • meet friend again for coffee like last week
  • pick up DS and cook lunch together

Gave myself a head start with some of those online tasks. Nervous about Wednesday again.

@Luddite26 Thank you for encouragement re. Wednesday sessions. Yes, takes us to 18th March. Hoping to stay sane! Thank you re. weight loss. Sunday is my weigh-in day, another 100g off this week. Doesn't sound much but it is in the right direction. Glad to read your GS is better. Costa toasties are delicious, not had for a while but there's a Costa near the Wednesday office and I used to hang out there when I worked there before. Poor you, bed changes argh! My DS is about same age as your GS and had friends over, so boy-bed changes. They had a great time. You sound like a lovely GP. Good luck with decluttering a la Diane!

@ThatWorthyNewt Well done with gym! I keep seeing that on your list as exercising more has been my mission, too. Thinking of getting a walking pad to help.

@Ladymuckypuddle Well done with DryJan and Nutracheck. May join you on 100 dry day challenge, I barely notice the days when I get going. I used to binge drink at weekends, now it's more like every few months. I get back on the wagon again very quickly. Like you, enjoying the benefits. Clearer skin, better sleep, lost weight and also my concentration is sharper. Combined with this fabulous list thread... peak focus!

Hope everyone is having a relaxing Sunday evening and looking forward to checking in tomorrow. Wow, onto day 26!

ThatWorthyNewt · 25/01/2026 22:02

Evening everyone- not too much sundaynightitis right now as I had a good day. Managed to tidy up a bit (but an ongoing project!), spin class done, calls done, and admin...half done but made a good dent in it. So back on that tomorrow as well, but happy with the effort.

@InfiniteJester sounds like such a lovely weekend, glad you had a nice time. Re exercise- it's taken me a long time to get into a regular routine with it to build up the habit, so keep going! And I still fall off the bandwagon like over Xmas...but I've been building up over about 3 years. But as I say the second my routine gets thrown off I'm not doing it! In the winter I definitely have to force myself to do it a lot more, but I know that when it's summer I'll be glad to have the fitness to enjoy getting out in the light mornings and evenings.

Hope everyone else had a nice weekend. Not sure on my list for tomorrow yet so will have a think in the morning.

Hi all, I’m still here but this last couple of weeks have been very chaotic. Elderly dad has had an operation so I have been taxi-ing elderly mum to and from the hospital which is 45 minutes away every day and generally running around. Not sure when he will be home yet, so the rushing around will continue for the foreseeable future. Plus am behind at work as had a couple of days off to deal with stuff, so I have not really been achieving any of my January goals! I did get my nails and eyebrows done last Monday, but bed at 10pm hasn’t been achievable, nor has exercise or self-care, and I’ve just realised I’ve forgotten to take my supplements for the last few days as well.

Tomorrow is a new day, so I’ll catch up on everyone’s posts then and come back!

Goals for tomorrow - supplements, bed by 10pm. Keeping it manageable hopefully!

ThatWorthyNewt · 26/01/2026 07:21

Morning everyone, another Monday! And the last one of January 2026 Shock - nearly out the other side of a long, dark and cold month, spring will be here soon and I can't wait! Thanks all for the company every week.

@Eggsley lovely to hear from you and sorry that your last few weeks have been so stressful- sending my thoughts to you + hoping you get some times this week for a bit of self care or an earlier night.

Tasks for today for me:

  • Put away washing and do a load of washing (last load and then we're done with the backlog )
  • WFH meetings in morning + afternoon
  • 2x admin tasks
  • Pilates class after work

Gonna be a busy one with work for me today, but have a good day everyone :)

OP posts:
ThatWorthyNewt · 26/01/2026 18:53

Evening all.

Today from my list:

  • WFH, admin and washing done
  • Pilates class not done.....again why do I put exercise after work?!

Anyway other than that an okay day- bit dull but keeping going. I regret not exercising because it does make the day more dull when I don't get out after WFH but I will get over it and remember for next time!

How was everyone else's Monday?

OP posts:
InfiniteJester · 26/01/2026 20:18

Hey evening @ThatWorthyNewt

You did well! Ok no exercise but sometimes WFH gets in the way. I get it. Didn’t manage my walk today and feeling really restless tonight. WFH tomorrow too, so will be sure to do an extra long walk. Agree, it’s easier in the summer. Mondays are so dull!

@Eggsley
Waving to you! Hope the stress eases off soon. That sounds really hard on you, hope you are getting support.

Achievements today:

walk. NOT DONE
ab exercises. NOT DONE

prepare work for Wednesday. DONE!!!

send important work email DONE AND DEALT WITH AFTERMATH!!

online task 1A and task 2A, then online task 1B and 2B
DONE, DONE, DONE, AND… DONE!

practice presentation for Thursday DONE

meet friend again for coffee like last week DONE

pick up DS and cook lunch together DONE

I realise these threads are helping me to assess my priorities & to see how things for me, like exercise, fall down the wayside. I find it hard when WFH to have definite start and finish times. I also get distracted too much by my phone. Groan…

ThatWorthyNewt · 27/01/2026 07:10

Good morning everyone!

Today for me:

  • WFH meetings
  • WFH 2x tasks
  • Run and stretching

Keeping it to three things as my WFH tasks might take a while today and I really need to get both done! + want to get out for my exercise as my no.1 priority- @InfiniteJester agree so hard with WFH and it being dark by the time I finish.

Nearly there with January everyone! I think in February I need to have a look at starting some more interesting hobbies 😂because life is quite monotonous throughout the winter- need to write a list of some interesting things to get up to! Been really good at being disciplined throughout January...but need some exciting things in the day-to-day! Have a good Tuesday all.

OP posts:
InfiniteJester · 27/01/2026 17:47

Hello, happy Tuesday (nearly) evening, everyone,

Bit of a crap day. I slept very badly last night. Anxious. One of my DCs is off travelling in the next few days and I feel sick thinking about it. My DH (not their dad) is coming home at the end of the week (we live between 2 places) and I am worried about juggling it all. I did a walk but it chucked it down so I just had a hot bath and ate my dinner too early followed by a whole bag of Haribos. Darn.

Today, I:

  • Started changing the beds in everyone's rooms
  • Gathered laundry. Will put machine on in a mo
  • Deep cleaned cooker
  • Task 1 online for work
  • Task 2 online for work
  • Video for 1
  • Video for 2
  • Prepared tomorrow's presentation (eek nervous)
  • Did some preparation for work on Thursday
  • Did a bit of writing for my document for March deadline
  • Did a walk (only 3.5 km though)
  • Did a good 40 minute workout on abs

Looks like a lot but it's only small chunks of lots of things. I feel sick and headachey now after the sweets, and jetlagged from sleep deprivation. Why do I do this to myself?!

@ThatWorthyNewt I was thinking about Feb and hobbies, too. I love spring and I start working on my garden, propagating seeds and taking cuttings. Can you do that? Or maybe join a class? I need to pick up my phone & organise things with my old pals. I've really isolated myself lately because of the dark, cold nights!

ThatWorthyNewt · 27/01/2026 20:25

Evening everyone.

Aw sorry you had a hard day @InfiniteJester - to me sounds like you got a lot done!, and sometimes those days just happen where things don't go too well, but you can only keep going the next day. Understandable that you struggled if you haven't slept well, and it's always harder to do what you want to if you're anxious and tired. Hopefully you get some more rest tonight and feel better in the morning- you can always go for a longer walk or do some other things you wanted to on Weds.

Gardening not my thing as I am the least green fingered person so DP deals with that 😂but class isn't a bad idea, I do the gym classes but I don't find those very social. I have thought maybe getting into a yoga class not at the gym as I thought that might vary things up a bit. And yes agree with making an effort to see friends! So easy to just stay in and watch tv in the winter evenings.

Today I managed my exercise so v happy about that, and WFH- didn't complete one task, but I think I was just a little overambitious! So will move that to maybe later in the week as I am in work tomorrow.

OP posts:
ThatWorthyNewt · 27/01/2026 20:26
  • good luck for your presentation tomorrow @InfiniteJester !
OP posts:
ThatWorthyNewt · 28/01/2026 07:26

Morning everyone. Quick one but- for me today, I really want to do...:

  • Food delivery and meal plan
  • Tidy the living room
  • Spin class after work

Hope everyone has a good Wednesday!

OP posts:
InfiniteJester · 28/01/2026 09:45

Thank you @ThatWorthyNewt! I am here now and the anxiety has eased off a bit. Still sleeping badly. I think it’s the new coffee pods.

ahhhh gardening not your thing! Ooops! Yoga class sounds very relaxing and chilled.

Your list looks achievable. Mine:

  • sort laundry
  • presentation
  • tadk 1 and task 2 online
  • prepare for tomorrow
  • bit of food shop

Happy Wednesday to all!

ThatWorthyNewt · 29/01/2026 09:59

Morning everyone! Didn't update yesterday as time got away with me, but managed to get everything done off my list. Hope everyone else got on okay?

Today I have managed to get out for some exercise first before WFH so that's great and feeling happy with myself. Rest of day tasks:

  • Put washing away and sort clothes in bedroom
  • 2x WFH tasks and one meeting, maybe get started on third task if I have time
  • Meeting a friend for coffee post-work so excited about that

Good luck all!

OP posts:
MorningBrew · 29/01/2026 14:50

Hi, can I join?
That’s exactly the type of thread I’ve been looking for. It’s inspiring reading everything you’ve ticked off.

The only thing is I’m on day two of my period and they’ve become so heavy in the last few years I barely function. Is that just me? Day one and day two are usually write offs…
Anyway, my first list-
•catch up on my reading
•put washing away
•cook salmon for supper
•dc school pick up
•(hopefully dh will be back earlier to do this one but likely not) take dc to sport club

ThatWorthyNewt · 29/01/2026 19:42

Evening all and welcome @MorningBrew - of course you can join and lovely to see your list! Sorry to hear about your period, sounds horrible ! and sending you a better 3rd day hopefully...

Tasks done for me today: exercise done, met friend, tidied up and sorted clothes, and managed to get meeting and 2x WFH tasks done.

Had a really good day today, just felt pretty positive, so that was good. How was your presentation @InfiniteJester ? and how are you @Luddite26 , haven't heard for a while?

OP posts:
Luddite26 · 29/01/2026 21:42

Thanks for the mention @ThatWorthyNewt
My wheels totally fell off Sunday after work. Sciatica really bad just went to bed with my electric blanket on. Been on a hamster wheel since and shattered lost all sight of Diane in Denmark ! But like @MorningBrew - (welcome!) - I've started with a heavy period which isn't great as I have been taking 2 contraceptive pills a day for the last four years which really helps everything but sometimes get a break through. No sign of menopause and I'm 55. It has been a scourge since I was 11. So been wiped out and getting straight to bed.
Had a full on week with the grandchildren as DD is working away till tomorrow.
Still doing PUPAs! But nothing else extra has got done this week just functioning.

Good to see others successes. I think this last week has felt hard and then the storm on top on Tuesday.

@InfiniteJester I'm sorry you have been having anxiety and not sleeping. Adult DC's can have that effect can't they? I get like it sometimes but not sure whether it's age related.

One thing about this thread we all have a lot on our plate!

But one great event happened! I had a Dyson and it broke so I thought I'm not paying all that for another it had only lasted 5 years and I'd bought a new battery. So I purchased something off the internet with the best reviews for £179.99. it came I recycled the box and realised it was the worst thing I have ever bought. Kept using it. I think the pine needles killed it a few weeks ago so on Monday I purchased a new Dyson with a cord, heavy duty and my god it came yesterday I hoovered the living room and it nearly filled the canister. Despite hoovering twice a week with this awful vac which is now at the tip. So I feel better about that as you just never felt like it was really sucking and evidently but really wasn't. So that will make me feel better
Hope everybody has a peaceful sleep before the last push!

Luddite26 · 29/01/2026 22:13

DH has just informed me I'm 54! Small wins.

ThatWorthyNewt · 30/01/2026 07:26

Morning everyone. 2 days left of Jan ! Shock I will probably do a February accountability thread if anyone else is interested?- these lists have helped me stay really focused throughout the month, and keep up with my habits. Thank you all.

@Luddite26 sorry to hear about your harder week, some weeks are just like that- but glad you have a nice new hoover to hopefully make things easier for you! and nice to hear about you, hoping you have a little less of a hectic time for the last push, or manage to get some small wins.

For me today:

  • Meeting
  • 3x WFH tasks - might get a coffee and work out the house for a little!
  • Fold washing
  • Pilates on youtube and a walk - might do the walk this morning and then the pilates this evening.

Good luck with Friday everyone, honestly can't stress enough how you have all helped me stick to my tasks this month!

OP posts:
ThatWorthyNewt · 31/01/2026 07:46

Happy Saturday and last day of January to everyone! Got some of my list done yesterday, didn't do my youtube pilates or one of my WFH tasks though, but did do 2x WFH tasks, put away washing and go for a walk.

Tasks for the last day of January accountability!:

  • GYM!

That's it actually as today I am spending the day resting and with family- and actually I'm fairly on top of things! Must be the full month of lists!

OP posts:
CarolwithoutanE · 31/01/2026 09:20

Oh late to the party but can I join?

We are out today will be home around 5/6. I plan to clear out the fridge this evening. Tomorrow I will wash the shelves and drawers.

Sunday is bed building for DD, so will either help DH with that, or declutter my bedside drawers.

I will attempt the shit cupboard on the island this weekend too.

InfiniteJester · 01/02/2026 06:44

Hello all! Sorry to be MIA.Wednesday work went v well, Thursday also but I was left exhausted! DH back and so we’ve been doing nice meals & a few tasks around the house. DC waved off 😭Mixed feelings as living best life right now.

@ThatWorthyNewt. How was the gym? I had a lovely long walk, must keep it up!

@Luddite26Hope you have a gentler week. And a new Dyson is fab! I went through exactly the same - even the pine needles - a few years ago! My DH recently fixed my Dyson handheld too, the parts are very easy to buy cheaply, so it’s practically a vacuum cleaner for life! Sorry about periods problema etc. I hope you are better now.

Upwards! Onwards! Are we going to be February-accounting? These posts have been fabulous. Flowers

Luddite26 · 01/02/2026 08:03

Thankyou @ThatWorthyNewt and @InfiniteJester.
Happy February it's here and just 4 weeks!
I'm glad your work went well @InfiniteJester that must be a weight off not being as apprehensive with it looming in the middle of the week.
I hope everyone has a good day today enjoying Sunday.
I am having a drive to the coast and a dog walk for work. So that's a bit of a change!

If we are doing February I will get a list together for later after my haphazard wee.k? Reset today!

Ladymuckypuddle · 01/02/2026 11:05

Morning everyone 😊

Sorry to read some of you have had bumps in the road and I hope this week is much better for you. Work last week was absolutely nuts so apologies for not keeping up with the thread and you lovely lot Flowers but the positive thing is that I didn't drink last week stuck to DJ and my Nutracheck calories. I've decided to carry on the no alcohol and take my dry days up to 100 days 🤞 the benefits are just to good to give up. Another massive plus last week thanks to you guys was I continued doing at least one daily task my house since starting this thread is in much better order.

Today's list is

Put the robot hoover in my room and shut the door ( I lift everything off the floor) then my carpet gets a good deep clean.

Open all the windows for at least half an hour to help freshen up the house (I do this daily)

Empty tumble dryer and put my cleaning cloths away (I have a bucket to shove my cleaning cloths in and then I shove them on a hot wash once a week)

Put the bags I have for the charity shop in my car boot ready to drop in at some point this week.

And last but not least, our old favourite today is the day that I hopefully 🙏 finally sort out my towel and sheet cupboard.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone

MorningBrew · 01/02/2026 11:25

Happy February!
Im stuck indoors with dc. Dh at work. Weather is awful. I made a daft decision to sign up for 2k run every day in February for charity -
daft as I don’t really have anywhere to share my fundraising links so will probably not reach my humble goal…
However I will try to stick to the running every day so that’s on the list today. Hard with dc who doesn’t want to join me though.

The other thing is sorting laundry

Sorting birthday present for dh (that robot hoover sounds amazing - I wonder if I got him one how would he react 😬)

Sorting birthday presents for dc

I started a new book and I’m having it on my to-do as I’m struggling to make the time and focus but finding reading really helps me stay calm

InfiniteJester · 01/02/2026 17:05

@Ladymuckypuddle👏👏👏👏👏👏👏WOOOHOOOOOO we DID it! DryJan is ussss! 💐🌸🌺🌷 Very well done - to us, me too. Now nearly 6 JG down and apart from last 2 days my calorie counting has been consistent.

Just finished a load of online work. Yup, Sunday, I know. BUT my DH has fixed squeaky doors & problem windows, sorted my phone screen, fixed oven, mended lights & ordered me a bunch of useful tools. I’m so gassed, as they say.

@MorningBrewI like the sound of 2km running. Go girl! I do a 5km walk every day, wonder if I could change part of it to a run in solidarity…

Happy Sunday and happy 1st Feb to all!
