January Daily Accountability!

ThatWorthyNewt · 02/01/2026 08:38

Hi :) Is anyone interested in a thread where we post our daily to dos for January and update on what we managed to complete?

It doesn't have to be anything big, I think this is all about small steps and keeping plodding on through Jan. It's a good time to regroup and focus on what you want to do each day, with less mad dashes than December, and I need something to help me get back into the swing of things now Xmas is done. I also am quite nosy and like to see what little goals and habits people set themselves through the month...

I'll go first...today I need to:

  • Complete a work task I have been putting off
  • Go on a walk with my friend
  • Decide on what exercise classes I want to do this month and book them in

I'll update how this goes later!

Who's in?

Morning everyone. Happy Monday. Today's plan after work:

  • A walk in the morning + one in the evening
  • Load of washing
  • Plan out to dos and events for the week

How's everyone doing? Hope everyone has a good day :)

Good afternoon Happy Monday everyone!
Just in case anybody wants to know Diane in Denmark's day 6 is to
Clear something out like a drawer or the contents of a bag.
I thought right I will do my cutlery drawer while I finish my last morning coffee. Then I said to DH you can help by drying the cutlery holder. So he helped and we did the sharp knives drawer as well and had a quick rake in the junk drawer. So quite pleased with that one!
One more load of washing to do and I'm on top.
Fog has cleared up so we need a walk when the little ones come round from afternoon naps and before tea!

Going to try another quick reset before baths tonight - PUPA ! Set a 5 minute timer and Pick Up Put Away! That might be fun !

InfiniteJester · 19/01/2026 20:16

Hello everyone - finally posting my Monday list. Yeah, I know but I was sooo busy doing the things actually on it:

  • I DID THE FORM!!! It involved uploading proof of identity, bills, blah blah documents so not straightforward. Oh it's a pain and I have a feeling I've done it wrong
  • Work thing 1 online BIG JOB
  • Work thing 2 online BIG JOB
  • Finally submitted reference letter for junior
  • BIG work thing, minor promotion, emailed all concerned
  • Met friend for coffee & gave her a lift
  • PUPA @Luddite26 I put all my fresh laundry away
  • Mopped floors and unstacked dishwasher AND BROUGHT BINS IN

I didn't do a work task which is kind of urgent to do tomorrow (for a presentation on Wednesday), and my big March deadline work...urgh...and no walk. Also Instagram still stagnant. But blimey, what a busy and full day.

Tomorrow:

  • Work presentation
  • Write 1000 words at least for March thing
  • Email reply to colleague

@Luddite26 Did your DH move the Amazon box? I sold some books on one of those apps yesterday and I thought of you as I posted them off in an Amz box! Like it that you put the Santa tablecloth away!

@ThatWorthyNewt I am so pleased about your form. You inspired me to get mine done! Hope you got your washing on! My new thing is to put a load on just before my walk, and it's done by the time I get back -- especially good for drying, I find. Two things done for the price of 1, that way.

MUST do some exercise tomorrow. I am still DryJanning but a bit porky. LOL!

Luddite26 · 19/01/2026 22:29

Nice work @InfiniteJester you have powered through today..
I moved the box to the floor and it was supposed to go out to the recycling but it's still on the floor and now 2 plastic boxes have been plonked on the table full of hobby paraphernalia. Don't know when that will get moved now!
PUPA went well and it was nice to come back in and toys cleared up rather than the usual minefield!
Overall could have done more but it's been a long day and will try again tomorrow.

ThatWorthyNewt · 20/01/2026 07:07

Morning, Happy Tuesday! Didn't get around to updating yesterday but I managed to do all my tasks, was just very tired at the end of it it! @InfiniteJester yay so glad you got your form done, and looks like you had a very productive day at work!
@Luddite26 Love the idea of PUPA!

Today:

  • Prepare for a meeting on Fri
  • Morning walk (I went on one yesterday and it was lovely to see the light change)
  • Another load of washing (going to try out your tip @InfiniteJester )
  • Gym this evening

Good luck all for today. Loved seeing everyone's updates yesterday! And we all got through Blue Monday in one piece!

Luddite26 · 20/01/2026 08:59

Good morning
Not really got a list today more survival strategies as DD is away till Friday working.
Haircuts on the agenda and I'm at the hairdresser's tonight so may not get any extras done.
It's supposed to be the best day weather wise so top of my agenda is getting out today.

Diane in Denmark's task for today is sitting down and spending 15 mins organising tasks/diary lists. So that is doable as long as I don't nod off!
Will check back later enjoy Tuesday!

InfiniteJester · 20/01/2026 19:39

Hello all!
@ThatWorthyNewt Glad you got everything done yesterday! Hope you got as much done today. You've reminded me that I need to take my washing out of the dryer.

@Luddite26 Did you get your hair cut? And did you do Danish Diane's lists? Haha lots of Ds. I like the sound of DD. Reminds me of this book I have, Getting Things Done. Excellent strategies.

I'm LOVING this thread! Really helping me with my anxiety. Tomorrow I am doing some work which I last did in 2019. I had to stop because I got ill. Many changes since then, and so I feel a bit nervous going back in. I've been working since illness (and now over it) but some of my work went online, some changed to accommodate my illness. I'd rather not be reminded of it. Been into the building a few times this month, so reminded myself of the office, photocopier, etc.

Today:

  • Work presentation DONE
  • Write 1000 words at least for March thing GAHHH NOT DONE
  • Email reply to colleague NOT DONE (BUT CAN WAIT)
  • Did do extra thing: load of washing, cleaned kitchen with bleach, tidied up
  • Extra thing: long walk

Might do that email one now.

Tomorrow:

  • Morning is different-office thing
  • 2 hours free for lunch
  • Afternoon work in other office
  • Evening I will do the 1000 words thing
  • Quick shop (might do in lunchtime)

Onwards, Jaccountability people!

Ladymuckypuddle · 20/01/2026 19:43

Evening all 😊

Lovely to see all your busy lists. Still under the weather and not done much.

List for tomorrow
Make soup
Go for a walk
Clean bottom of my fridge

Good luck everyone!

InfiniteJester · 20/01/2026 20:30

Sorry to hear that @Ladymuckypuddle

Tomorrow is a fresh day, for a fresh list! Very domesticated one, that soup will be just the ticket. Raining hard here.

Happy Wednesday for tomorrow, everyone!

ThatWorthyNewt · 20/01/2026 21:36

Evening all! Managed to prepare for my meeting, go on a walk, no gym but did do a yoga video after work so semi done!, and washing done.

20 days through, so well done everyone :)

@InfiniteJester GOOD LUCK for tomorrow! Rooting for you to have a good day at the office.
@Ladymuckypuddle Hope you continue to feel a bit better
@Luddite26 How did your organising go?

Will update with my list tomorrow morning as not 100% sure what I want to get done yet. Just keep taking each day as it comes!

OP posts:
Luddite26 · 21/01/2026 06:15

Good morning everyone. Fell asleep last night before I had chance to update.
I got to my hairdressers but didn't take the little boys as they had very runny noses which I deemed not fair on the barber and his customers.
We had a good productive day in general! Had a lovely walk a few errands ticked off lots of washing done but still got lots to do today. So although we got through a busy day no extras got done!

Sorry you have felt under the weather @Ladymuckypuddle I hope you had a good sleep and your soup today will help.

Good luck today @InfiniteJester I hope it goes really well for you and you soon get through it. Hopefully you get some shopping done at lunchtime and get extra time later in the day. Rooting for you.

No organising whatsoever yesterday I'm afraid @ThatWorthyNewt but did put a couple of PUPAs in place which helped feel a bit tidier at the end of the day and everyone was asleep by around 9.30 so that was a result feel better for it today.

Today's list
Get on top of washing again.
A walk.
Book play area for tea time - a new plan to use energy up before bed and try tea there for only £1.50 extra per child!
Look at diary and lists.
PUPA time.
And still working on putting 10 things away from last week so maybe 1 or 2 of them.

Good luck for Wednesday everyone. Keep going.

ThatWorthyNewt · 21/01/2026 08:46

Morning everyone, happy hump day and a very January weather day. Good luck @InfiniteJester at the office, and hope you have a good day@Luddite26 sounds like you've got your hands full at the moment! But you sound like a lovely grandparent.

Todays plan for me:

  • Meetings this morning
  • Send off a WFH task to team member
  • Start on another WFH task
  • Gym after work (It's happening this time!!!)
  • Tidy our bedroom and give it a clean- surfaces, take waste paper basket out, and change sheets. Love getting into a fresh bed in a cosy room so keeping that as my motivation, it has got a lot of dreaded piles of random crap in there at the moment as we have not been PUPA- ING!

Then hopefully relax with DP and watch tv later if I get the chance! Have a good one and thank you all for lovely motivation and lists to read through!

OP posts:
Luddite26 · 21/01/2026 11:35

Just to say in case it can inspire!
Diane in Denmark today day 8 of reset is to spend 5 minutes resetting a room.
Any room. And just 5 mins. Or 2 mins in 1 and 3 in another! Just a quick tidying exercise.
Thought of @ThatWorthyNewt if the whole bedroom clean is a bit ambitious mid week!

Hope @InfiniteJester your morning is passing swiftly and gently for you.

Luddite26 · 22/01/2026 07:33

Happy Thursday everyone. Hope everybody got through Wednesday ok?

General plans just to get through today and a walk at some point.
Diane in Denmark day 9 was to have a look in your fridge get anything used up and make sure there's nothing rotting. So that's an easy tick as I have a shop coming this morning.
Good luck everyone. It's quite dark and wet here not very inspiring !

leaflikebrew · 22/01/2026 07:38

Morning all - lurker on this thread.

But yes - I am still on target for 10,000 steps each day in January - and possibly beyond. Have done 6700 already this morning with Ddog...

Roll on brighter mornings for February

ThatWorthyNewt · 22/01/2026 08:25

Happy Thursday. Got through Wednesday @Luddite26 ! Managed to clean bedroom, change sheets, do WFH tasks (didn't start on new task but finished other and submitted it) and went to the gym. Felt very energised yesterday, strange how we have random bursts!
Welcome @leaflikebrew sounds great on your steps!

Today's plan as I am WFH:

  • Run this morning
  • Finish WFH task that needs doing by today
  • Other WFH task for a few hours
  • Yoga on youtube later (very relaxed one just stretching)
  • Load of washing
  • then I think I'm going to do a relaxing shower later. Have a nice Thursday everyone. + hoping Weds was kind to you all.
OP posts:
ThatWorthyNewt · 22/01/2026 22:25

Evening all, late one to say DONE all apart from load of washing...behind and changed the sheets so needs to go on tomorrow! How is everyone?

OP posts:
ThatWorthyNewt · 23/01/2026 08:08

Happy Friday- not long left of Jan. This month has been really productive for me! It's been very useful to take stock each morning on what I want to complete that day, and each day has added up to a lot over the month. Couple of habits/goals I am already thinking about for feb though, so maybe will have a think about feb later this evening.

Today's tasks:

  • Meeting + WFH tasks
  • 2x walks (one in my lunch break, one after work)
  • WASHING !! and put away

Hope everyone has a good Friday :)

OP posts:
InfiniteJester · 23/01/2026 17:32

Happy Friday, everyone! 👏

WELL DONE @ThatWorthyNewt soooo productive! You did the sheets, big job.

Been busy since Wednesday but that went really well in my old office! Will be there every Wednesday for 9 weeks, a bit apprehensive but hopefully next year I can take that bit out of my workload.

Welcome @leaflikebrew Trying to keep up my steps, too, around 6,500. Just about to nip out while the rain has stopped.

@Luddite26 I seem to be on Di in Den's wavelength! Cleaned fridge on Weds evening as I went shopping after work. Lovely clean fridge for the DCs who've had various mates back from university. DD back tonight so hopefully she will eat all the snacks, my backside doesn't need them. Thank you for thinking of me during my Wednesday task. I was so nervous.

So nearly through January. Soon be payday! Soon be spring, too. I hear the birds chirping every morning and it is lovely. February is a short month, should also help.

@ThatWorthyNewt I feel the same way about this thread. It has really helped me to take ownership of my days and the tasks, and also to be gentler on myself. I asked for an extension for the March deadline and now have to the end of May. I would have usually flustered over this. It is helpful to think across to Feb, too, so I'm in if you want to continue. This thread reminds me of the Lao Tze quote:

“Watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions; watch your actions, they become your habits; watch your habits, they become your character; watch your character, it becomes your destiny.”

Soppy, I know! But it has helped me to watch my thought patterns and actions, to progress into habits, especially tracking the not-drinking and daily exercise. I've lost 6 kgs since 1st Jan. Might not sound spectacular but I was getting porky and breathless.

Hope your WFH day has been productive! Me too WFH and I woke up extra early and got loads done online. Now trying to do a little more.

Happy weekend everyone!

InfiniteJester · 23/01/2026 17:33

That was long! Sorry! Also, I wrote it at 4pm but only just realised it didn’t post.

ThatWorthyNewt · 24/01/2026 06:47

Love that quote @InfiniteJester ! + well done on your January achievements so far! Yes, very excited for a bit of spring...

Happy weekend. Today:

  • Going out in town for lunch with DP
  • Tidy downstairs of house
  • Gym treadmill session

Might start on a bit of the tidying now once I've had a coffee.

Have a good one everyone- how are you @Eggsley @Ladymuckypuddle @Luddite26 ?

OP posts:
Luddite26 · 24/01/2026 07:47

Good morning everyone. Happy Saturyaay!

This group has really helped me as usually on a Saturday I'm thinking I need to get tidied before I go but it's actually not bad (for me) today.
So glad to hear your work went well on Wednesday @InfiniteJester and I hope it doesn't get you down going the next few weeks. Where does 9 weeks take us to? The end of March? 6kg is amazing that's about a stone. Well done on that achievement.
Diane in Denmark is quite easy on your ear - in my opinion - and has other decluttering videos on YouTube. I sound like I'm plugging her I aren't. But I have been listening to loads and trying to get going and I think with this accountability and Diane's inspiration I am getting started for the first time in my life. It's going to be a long road and I have an Amazon habit to kick but I've done quite well and only ordered a few things in January like excema cream so essentials.
Yesterday's Diane in Denmark was to change a bed ! My bed day is Sunday and the others were ok. But I have just woke up to GS16 being poorly so his bed now needs changing in tune with Diane! And there is now lots of washing and a bathroom to clean! But hey before the accountability I would have had that anyway so all fine!

Today's tasks are the usual getting out for a good walk ! Well done @leaflikebrew for your mammoth step achievement especially in January as the weather hasn't been the best you must feel better for it.

washing and putting away.

And to find a card I had made for a lady from nurseries retirement. I was searching yesterday got into a total state cos I couldn't find it. Terrible at losing things when I want them or when I have put them in a safe place! May have to do another one.

Thanks for the thread and support @ThatWorthyNewt I hope you enjoy your lunch today.
Have a good Saturday everyone!

Ladymuckypuddle · 24/01/2026 10:54

Morning everyone 😊

Sorry I've been missing I've got a sinus ear infection 🤒 will catch up with the thread. Hope you all have a fab Saturday. From my last list I've managed to clean the bottom of my fridge, how does it even get dirty under the bottom drawer 🤷‍♀️

My list for today
Read a chapter of my book
Go out for a walk

Still sticking with dry January and Nutracheck. Can't believe it's day 24 January has went so quickly. Once I've hopefully completed dry January I am going to keep going and do the 100 dry day challenge (that's including January) the benefits are just so good my skin is looking much healthier, my sleep is amazing and all the other good benefits they say and I've lost weight.

ThatWorthyNewt · 25/01/2026 07:46

Morning everyone. From my list yesterday, I managed to get to the gym and we went out for lunch (although that's not very hard to do! 😂)...did a bit of tidying but still looking quite messy so need to do that again today!

Get well soon @Ladymuckypuddle hope you have a nice rest this weekend.

@Luddite26 hope your GS feels better as well, and how did your Saturday go? Yes I do find Diane in Den is very positive and it's nice to see that. I struggle to keep up with the prompts on top of work etc., but I have watched some of her other videos.

For me today:

  • Tidying!! (want to go into next week with a nice clean house)
  • Spin class
  • 3x admin tasks (try to get these out the way this morning!)
  • Phone calls this evening with family and a friend who I haven't caught up with in a while

Might pop into town as well just to do something but the rain continues and continues at the moment!! Anyone have an ability to enjoy wintery weather?! I'm trying but haven't had sunshine in days....

OP posts:
Luddite26 · 25/01/2026 08:02

Thankyou @ThatWorthyNewt GS was better last night. Saturday went well it was bright and dry here looked better from inside as it was biting cold.
We had a nice walk and a toastie/drink in Costa which was nice. Usually I go to independent coffee shops or National Trust but now and again I get a craving for a Costa cheese toastie! Didn't have a cake which was a disappointment but have to try!

I haven't found the card going to do another.

You have a lot on your list today @ThatWorthyNewt I hope you smash it and feel very set up for the week.
@Ladymuckypuddle hope you feel a lot better soon and get some rest and recuperating today.

Working till 6pm today but when I get home I'm changing my bedding
Decluttering 10 items from the bedroom!
Hoovering ready for the week.
Enjoy Sunday hope it doesn't go too fast for everyone.
