January Daily Accountability!

ThatWorthyNewt · 02/01/2026 08:38

Hi :) Is anyone interested in a thread where we post our daily to dos for January and update on what we managed to complete?

It doesn't have to be anything big, I think this is all about small steps and keeping plodding on through Jan. It's a good time to regroup and focus on what you want to do each day, with less mad dashes than December, and I need something to help me get back into the swing of things now Xmas is done. I also am quite nosy and like to see what little goals and habits people set themselves through the month...

I'll go first...today I need to:

  • Complete a work task I have been putting off
  • Go on a walk with my friend
  • Decide on what exercise classes I want to do this month and book them in

I'll update how this goes later!

Who's in?

Morning everyone. Happy Tuesday. I'm feeling a lot more ready to go again today! So plans for today:

  • Pop kitchen towels and tea towels, cloths onto wash + hang up them up
  • Big task at work that needs to get finished, may have to take this home this evening.. (main focus for today)
  • Going to do a 2x loop run of route that I like

@Ladymuckypuddle love brideshead revisited, great book. Need to think of what book I'm going to get into for rest of Jan!

Good luck to all for today.

@ThatWorthyNewt thanks! I tried to get organised before work this morning and popped into Tesco. Something triggered the fire alarm so just when I was about to pay for all the shopping, we were evacuated.
Ended up behind on my schedule again but luckily just in time for work.
my plan which I’ll try to stick to -
fold all the washed clothes and put away
do some of my cpd.
start cleaning a bathroom. I figure if I do a bit every day, it can get done by the end of the week. Toilet, sink, shower screen, shower enclosure, floor. I’ll do one or two of them.
dinner
cleaning etc. before bed.

ThatWorthyNewt · 13/01/2026 19:08

Evening everyone!

Great idea to break the bathroom down into chunks @JetFlight

A long day but can proudly say completed all tasks. I need to just keep plodding through!:

✅work task
✅run
✅kitchen cloth washing

Thank you to you all for keeping me accountable this month. I didn't want to exercise today but just thought of how I would have to make my excuses here again and got myself out the door! Think I will make sure to get to bed early with a book tonight so I can wind down. Hope everyone else managed to tick off something? And sending my thoughts to anyone who is finding mid-January a bit of a struggle.

OP posts:
InfiniteJester · 13/01/2026 23:31

Hello hello, v late checking in! I did ALL MY TASKS yesterday and some more today. Didn’t get round to my walk today but need to walk to work tomorrow, which will make up for it. Sorry for being AWOL today, I’m loving our lista and missed you all! Will log back in tomorrow morning, it’s been brilliant having a tally!

Ladymuckypuddle · 13/01/2026 23:59

Hi everyone, I tried to post earlier but the site kept glitching. Managed to tick off finishing cleaning my make up brushes and go out for a walk was good to get out in the fresh air and stretch my legs. Sadly I couldn't fit in sorting out my sheets and towels will try again with them tomorrow.

Tomorrow's to do list
Sheets/towels think that's all I can fit in tomorrow. Actually think I will pop a bath on my list.

@InfiniteJester thankfully my tumble dryer is back in full working order. Makes such a difference. Ended up the condenser needed a good clean. Can't believe tomorrow marks two weeks of dry January already its still going fine, ginger beer sounds lovely think I will get some. Are you planning on treating yourself to something nice with the money you have saved? How are you finding DJ? Hope its going ok for you.

@Eggsley thank you, think I might treat myself to some fluffy socks with the wine money I've saved doing dry January. I try and have a Pamper bath at least once a week to help de stress. Hope you enjoy yours.

@ThatWorthyNewt have you had time to pick a book yet? If so hope you are enjoying.

Well done everyone what a productive lot we are 💐

Luddite26 · 14/01/2026 06:23

Hope everyone is well and raring to go!!
The YouTube lady Diane in Denmark seems quite pleasant.
She's doing a 2026 reset. So day 1 was Monday and it was to clear a surface! Any area. I have got into a habit of dumping things off the kitchen table onto the kitchen worktop so this has been annoying me so this was my area to clear ! Which I've managed this morning - Wednesday!
Day 2 Tuesday task is to put 10 items away. So when I drop the 2 little ones at nursery I intend doing that. Will report back!
And that is my aim this week to find a place for things and put them away instead of putting things down.
Managed the walk Monday and Tuesday and that is another aim for today also an early night as have felt really tired the last couple of days but have now started with a razor blade throat so that could be why.

I like the idea of including a book. I started reading Wind in the Willows to GS7 last night as recommended by Lauren Laverne as her favourite children's book on a Podcast. Read 3 chapters and we are not really feeling it yet. I find the language such a distant memory for these young YouTubers but got to try and get out of our comfort zone !
Have a good Wednesday everyone.

ThatWorthyNewt · 14/01/2026 06:57

Morning all. Love to see these lists this morning!

@Luddite26 yes, have stumbled across her before, and her reset sounds really good! I will join you in it- think I will do both tasks today to catch up.

So plans for today after WFH will be:

  • Need to fill a form out
  • Clear one surface (i'm going to do the desk in our study)
  • + put 10 items away (just going to do these from around the house)

Now I'm thinking about surfaces...there's quite a few I could clear 😂so maybe I'll try and add that as a job onto this list a few more times this week and see how far I get.

Have a nice Wednesday everyone :)

OP posts:
Luddite26 · 14/01/2026 15:38

I need to add a disclaimer the kitchen worktop I cleared was only a portion where the kettle is. Approx 3 foot by 2.5 foot! The other side needs putting on a list!

I am planning on putting 10 things away which really needs a place
For example last year the box of kids Christmas books somehow got left under the coffee table so I want to put items like that away properly rather than like my daughter said pair up 20 socks. So I'm not rushing just to tick boxes.

The Wednesday reset from Diane in Denmark is to clean something which is getting on your nerves.
I'm going to work on the 3 steps hopefully later!
Hope all ok.

ThatWorthyNewt · 14/01/2026 19:52

Evening all, very quick one to say I managed the tidying tasks after WFH, but not filling out the form. Will have a crack at it tomorrow hopefully! How's everyone's days been?

OP posts:
ThatWorthyNewt · 15/01/2026 06:52

Good morning :) A dark wintery morning but I hope to have a productive day. Tasks are:

  • WFH task
  • Appointment this afternoon
  • Fill out form (moved this from yesterday)
  • 2L of water
  • Asda online shop
  • Spin class at gym this evening

Better get cracking 😁

@Ladymuckypuddle how did your towels go? and @Luddite26 how about your tidying goals? Hope everyone got a little of something done, and if you didn't manage it- just try again today! Have a good day everyone.

OP posts:
Luddite26 · 15/01/2026 10:08

Good luck with your list today @ThatWorthyNewt. Hope everyone can keep the momentum going!

Diane from Denmark's task today is to get your clothes ready for tomorrow and do something nice for yourself like put a special piece of jewellery or a lipstick you don't often wear or a change of perfume. Just to have a little investment in yourself
I think I might wash and iron my scarf as it's been on because of the cold and dig out a different one I'm not into jewellery!

Suits me which means I can catch up on the first three days! These are meant to be quick tasks which don't overwhelm but I think we are all on here because overwhelm is just in us when it comes to tidying!

Had a good sort out of the kids toys yesterday as part of the putting away 10 things so I was pleased with that a bit more to do still but all positive.
Today's tasks are getting out for a walk priority and practicing putting things away not down. So I took 2 towels upstairs and put them in the cupboard instead of on the landing where I normally would!
Happy Thursday everyone.

InfiniteJester · 15/01/2026 10:35

Morning lovely people!

Halfway through January. Oh thank goodness. I tried to post but the site is rubbish on my laptop. Was trying to catch up with everyone.

@LadymuckypuddleHope you got your sheets & towels done! You inspired me to change my sheets & wash my lighter duvet. Glad your dryer works again. I have mine a good clean when it stopped working suddenly & that did the trick! Well done with DryJan. I’m feeling the health benefits, fewer palpitations. Sadly my cash has been flowing in the wrong direction, so any savings are going towards paying off credit card, but still good, really. I am loving the lack of hangovers! How are you finding it? Lots of nice treats?

@Luddite26 I like the sound of this Danish lady! Think I’ve been doing similar things, tidying up & away, clearing areas of the house. Putting 10 items away is quite an achievement when you have little DCs. I love the idea of a book, too, but am reading for work & it is too much to pick up anything else. Now wishing I’d done more fun reading over Christmas. Ah well!

@ThatWorthyNewt
Good list completion yesterday. I am WFH today as well, need to do those similar things, usually my days are like yours and involve completion of 1 form, 1 appointment, food shopping/cooking, and exercise. I’m spotting a pattern!

Worked out of home yesterday. Had one big appointment and two smaller ones. Nice to get dressed up for work & to leave the house. I also fitted in a 7 km walk early in the morning. Pleased with myself! January is going ok this year.

But today I feel like I am underachieving again.
Have

  • checked in on 2 work things
  • written a letter of reference for my junior person

Now need to:

  • Look over slides for presentation 1
  • slidez for presentation 2
  • actually send that reference letter
  • print out a form (home printer broken, need to do this at work)
  • write a paragraph or two for March deadline

I’m really struggling with this March deadline so need to make a decision soon as to whether to ask for extra time, or work like the clappers to get it done. Hmm. Also asked DS if he’s coming for lunch so can organise. He’s living with his dad on his year off & working but we enjoy lunch together at least once a week.

I love our little group! 💐🌺🌷🌹

Ladymuckypuddle · 15/01/2026 10:39

Morning everyone 😊

Unfortunately still not managed to sort out my towels and sheets, determined to get them done today even if it means doing them at 11pm tonight 🤣 make up brushes and walk Ticked off on my other list though. A few chapters into Lady Chatterleys Lover and honesty I am losing the will to live with it, so boring and doesn't flow great at all. It's like someone gave the writer one hundred words and said here write a book. The amount of repeated lines/words is so annoying (so good to get that out Grin) still plodding along with Nutracheck and dry January still finding them both no trouble.

Today's task
Towels... just the towels 🤞and maybe a walk.

@ThatWorthyNewt thanks for the water reminder I need to drink more than I am at the moment.

@Luddite26 like the idea of getting clothes ready for the next day that's something I don't do and it's always a smash and grab in the morning.

Ladymuckypuddle · 15/01/2026 11:01

@InfiniteJester the health benefits are so good aren't they. Finding the same as you my anxiety and palpitations have all but gone, skin much brighter a spring in my step. My thoughts are turning to maybe continuing into February. Putting the extra money into your cc is a massive achievement well done. Think the only treat I've bought myself is little baskets to keep my spice jars in, have been enjoying pampering myself daily though and got back into reading, had another Pamper shower last night and exfoliated my body lovely and relaxing plus those things are free Grin very jealous of your 7km walk. Good luck with your deadline.

ThatWorthyNewt · 15/01/2026 19:58

Evening all.

@Luddite26 sounds like you're doing a great job with tidying and you have such a busy life so don't beat yourself up! Like the idea of trying out something new to make yourself feel nice, did you manage anything?

@InfiniteJester Well done on your walk, sounds lovely + definitely relate to the regularity of every day 😂can get boring especially in January but honestly ...maybe it's what January's for? Staying in and getting stuff done when the weather isn't great.

@Ladymuckypuddle sending luck to you with your towels! and you did make me chuckle about Lady Chatterley's Lover.

Today went pretty well, but a bit overwhelming with mountains of new tasks always arriving...but I think I just have to keep going at what I'm doing. It felt quite muddy, grey and cold outside, but I can't give up on myself over Winter, otherwise those habits won't be there for summer! Today:

  • WFH task done
  • Appointment done
  • Fill out form....not done! again! (but I did another WFH task instead which took up the time, so I'm not too annoyed...try again tomorrow!)
  • 2L of water....maybe? (I find it hard in the winter because I drink a lot of tea and so I don't feel that thirsty for water. I drank about 1.5L of water and then some tea on top so I think I'll say it's done!)
  • Asda online shop done
  • Spin class done (always feel better for exercise even if I was feeling really sluggish before and so I'm very proud for going as I really cba before hand)

Tomorrow's tasks:

  • Form (actually this time 😁)
  • Exercise of whatever I can fit in
  • 2x WFH tasks

Looking forward to tomorrow evening as DP and I going out for friend's birthday, so keeping that in mind. May have been over ambitious with my list, but we will see.

Hope everyone is going okay, I have been waffling on! 🍀

OP posts:
Ladymuckypuddle · 16/01/2026 22:45

Hope you are all having a lovely evening. Yesterday I managed to fit in a walk unfortunately didn't get round to sorting out the towels ☹️

Tomorrow's list
Clean the bottom of my freezer
Get out for a walk

It will be interesting to see how long this thread lasts for. Imagine if we are still carrying on into 2027!

InfiniteJester · 16/01/2026 23:36

Hello all! Reading even though Ididnt get round to posting today.

I didn’t walk yesterday (rain) but did an extra-long one today.

Would love for this thread to carry on to the end of Jan. such a dull month. I just wish it was easier to access the site on my PC.

Tomorrow:

  • walk
  • online work 1 and 2
  • Quick look at a work task
  • I have a form!
  • Relax and recharge

Been cooking nice lunches for DCs. Will try to batch cook on Sunday & maybe something special for dinner tomorrow night.

Life seems so dull at the mo, but maybe I should enjoy the quiet more. Not long until payday now!

ThatWorthyNewt · 17/01/2026 07:24

Happy Saturday all. Out last night so I didn't post, but yes totally agree let's try to continue this thread beyond Jan, if anyone is interested? It helps keep me focused! Yesterday:

  • Started on form, but need to finish today
  • Did 2x wfh tasks
  • Went to the gym and used the treadmill

Today! Bit boring but...:

  • Walk with DP
  • Pilates class at gym
  • Finish form and edit some of my WFH stuff
  • Have a relaxed evening + catch up on TV and have a nice long shower!

I saw a quote which said: "No hurry, no pause", which is the idea you can get everything done by calmly plodding on at a consistent pace. This just resonated with me this month!

Have a good one everyone :)

OP posts:
ThatWorthyNewt · 17/01/2026 07:25

Also agree @InfiniteJester it can be so dull, so muddy and grey out there 😬can't wait for spring and easter to be honest! Might have to get some fresh flowers for the house to liven it up again.

OP posts:
ThatWorthyNewt · 18/01/2026 07:35

Morning all and happy Sunday. Been a busy one yesterday and the day before, so I was so tired and didn't get a chance to post yesterday evening. Yesterday I managed to go for a walk, do my pilates class, edited some of my WFH stuff, and did catch up a little on TV but didn't quite have time to relax properly!

Today:

  • Walk with DP this morning
  • Meal prep for the week (will do this at lunchtime)
  • Finish form!!
  • Spin class at the gym
  • Phone call with a friend
  • Load of washing on

But hoping I get to sit down with a cuppa at the end....

How are we all getting on? Hope you get a chance to do something nice this weekend + good luck all with today.

OP posts:
InfiniteJester · 18/01/2026 08:19

Good morning and happy Sunday, everyone!
@ThatWorthyNewt I notice your mention of The Form Smile I logged into mine late last night but can't say that I achieved much in completing it. I DID do pretty much everything else on my list, though. Hope you get some relax tome today. Have been lying around on the sofa a lot this weekend, not achieving much IRL but organising things online, I suppose. Feeling a bit burnt out. Maybe this is part of "no hurry, no pause" <-- I like this very much!

@Ladymuckypuddle How are you getting on with Lady Chatterley? Should also read for pleasure more. And how are our Dry Jans going? I am barely noticing the lack of booze... but have done this many times before. I just kind of go off alcohol. Probably it's the hangovers that put me off it! Might nip out for some nicer non-alc drinks soon though. I need coffee, too.

My to-do list is a bit like yours, WorthyNewt:

  • Walk this morning
  • Meal prep for the week when my groceries arrive
  • The dreaded form!
  • General house clean up/laundry
  • Plant tulips?
  • Bring in more wood from garden
  • Pick herbs & dry
  • Quick look at slides again
  • Instagram

MUST venture into my garden today! Also, I had a really active Instagram account over lockdown, mostly linked to work stuff. I really enjoyed using it as a sort of secret diary, but I let it go lately as I don't feel I have anything interesting to talk about. Might pick it up again soon. It's a nice way of feeling connected to the outside world. Feeling a bit lonely these days.

Have wonderful Sundays, everyone!

Ladymuckypuddle · 18/01/2026 13:01

Happy Sunday everyone

No list ticking off for me this weekend. Ended up going out for the day yesterday had a good time until we were driving home, just felt sick and horrible with cramps went to bed at 8pm. Having a lazy day on the couch today still feeling yuck. @InfiniteJester Lady Chatterley got shoved back on the shelf 🤣 I just couldn't get on with it at all. Dry January still going really well had a slight craving on Friday evening for a glass of red wine but just let it pass. Think I am the same as you and just go off alcohol. Thinking about carrying on after January and doing 100 days. That's a big list you have wishing you luck with it.

@ThatWorthyNewt fresh flowers sound lovely as does all your exercise well done you especially during this miserable weather.

InfiniteJester · 18/01/2026 19:03

The dreaded form! OOPS NOT DONE

Luddite26 · 18/01/2026 20:17

I hope everyone has had chance to enjoy some part or all of the weekend.

Farewell Lady Chatterley's Lover!

I'm afraid I've been a bit off track and hectic since Thursday so just coming to reset for the coming week!

If anyone is interested in Diane in Denmark's Friday task it was to put a load of laundry in! Which as I seem to put at least 4 loads of laundry in every day I counted it as a day off.
I washed my scarf but didn't get chance to get another one out so that's back on. But today I put my favourite perfume on just to smell it !
I have got the box of Christmas books away and unbelievably I have had a box of cleaning products, which somebody gave me, which I don't really use, on the stairs for months and I have moved it and sent the contents to someone who will use them.
And I've finally got round to taking the crazy Santa pvc table cloth off and put a grey polka dot one instead which feels better. And after I had spent a while folding a few loads of washing which I had dumped on the kitchen table after drying (I got a bit behind as DS was poorly and I brought his washing and changed his bed - he's paralysed and can do his own but I didn't want to leave him with it all to do) and cleared everything off put the new cloth on put a nice vase on the middle of the table DH came in and dumped an empty Amazon box on it presumably to go with his little collection he seems to have going in the kitchen! Box still there and a bit of laundry ready to fold again seems to have joined it.
So I better go and move that or I won't have achieved anything - laundry that is not the box.
Have had walks every day so that's something.
Enjoy the rest of Sunday if you can before we are back on the hamster wheel.

ThatWorthyNewt · 18/01/2026 21:11

Evening everyone. Looking forward to next week as it's looking a lot less busy than this one!

Well done @InfiniteJester ....and I had my form re-occurring on this list for about 5 days before it got done! 😂

@Ladymuckypuddle Oh no! Hope that you feel better soon and have a good rest. Life's too short to read books you don't like!

@Luddite26 sounds great that you managed to move the cleaning products, always some kind of task that we just never get round to so good on you!

My list today:

  • Walk with DP this morning - DONE
  • Meal prep for the week (will do this at lunchtime) - DONE
  • Finish form!! - DONE
  • Spin class at the gym - DONE
  • Phone call with a friend - NOT DONE
  • Load of washing on - NOT DONE (will need to do this tomorrow morning, don't know why I didn't do it but here we are...)

Back to a more normal week next week, as the past few days have just felt really busy! Going to just relax for a bit now and hope everyone else is having a calm evening too. Will be back for Monday !
