I quite like the look of them. Might go for it next year.

Im quite quirky and usually do things people arent really fond of but even I conclude that is absolutely shite looking.

Is that you, Miss Havisham?

For the full effect, accessorise with a single shoe, a stopped clock and a mouldering wedding feat gnawed by rats on a table alongside.

I want to ask - why would you do that as in, why shroud your tree (sounds like a euphemism!)

Hahahaha!

@FlashingFairyLight I do think you have a point. But I quite like the lights twinkling through the net.

I'm really not a fan of Christmas trees but have one for the children. But did wonder about trying something new and less traditional.

Ew. That’s one ugly, slightly creepy, looking tree.

RightOnTheEdge · 27/12/2025 12:09

Absolutely not, I really don't get it.

Are they fire safe?

This was my first thought. Back in the early 90's I had lights on my tree that had little strands of tinsel around the base of the bulbs. One evening I was in the kitchen and could smell burning but couldn't find the source. Went into sitting room and one of the lights had set fire to the tinsel

Always been super aware of trees and fire risks since then

Eyeshadow · 27/12/2025 12:12

Not my cup of tea.
I’d just assume someone hasn’t finished unpacking it.

MayaPinion · 27/12/2025 12:13

Nah, looks shite.

usedtobeaylis · 27/12/2025 12:14

Not for me, same vibes as a couch with a plastic cover.

SnowFrogJelly · 27/12/2025 12:16

Looks awful!

SnowFrogJelly · 27/12/2025 12:17

This is a wind up right

Definitely not. Google it. I think this year it was new, by next Christmas it'll be a lot more mainstream.

I can see the appeal of the artificial ones with snow and ice on them but the "shrouding" looks weird and silly. Sorry OP.

LaurieFairyCake · 27/12/2025 12:19

Hate them, maddest trend ever !!

Livpool · 27/12/2025 12:19

It’s horrible so no

coconutchocolatecream · 27/12/2025 12:25

LED bulbs don't generate as much heat as the types we used in the 90s, correct? So probably wouldn't pose nearly as much of a fire risk, I'm guessing.

I don't recoil in horror, but I prefer the traditional look and won't be shrouding my tree. I also dislike the word 'shroud', generally speaking.

chargarl · 27/12/2025 12:26

No, it looks a mess and almost as if they forgot or couldn't be arsed to take all the packaging off.

JustFish · 27/12/2025 12:28

I might try a stealth Christmas tree next year, where it's hidden behind the door or possibly in the broom cupboard....

Attictroll · 27/12/2025 12:28

Looks a bit try hard. I want attention because my tree looks weird. Just looks like you forgot to un wrap. But for someone with cats may be good I agree

blowthedoorsoff · 27/12/2025 12:28

Why?

It looks shit

littleblackcat1 · 27/12/2025 12:29

I think it looks a bit creepy. Creepy and ghostly!

DappledThings · 27/12/2025 12:29

Slightyamusedandsilly · 27/12/2025 12:18

Definitely not. Google it. I think this year it was new, by next Christmas it'll be a lot more mainstream.

Bit why? What effect is covering your tree in protective gauze meant to achieve? Is it meant to look like it's permanently in soft focus or something?

ABeerInTheSunshineMakesMeHappy · 27/12/2025 12:30

Looks like it’s still in its wrapping !

It’s one of those SM trends designed to part you from your money, and doesn’t even look good. What a waste.

It reminds me of what ermine moth caterpillars do to plants I'm afraid!
