Or is it too soon?

Mine comes down tomorrow. I take it down without fail, every boxing day. I don't like the mess.

What mess?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 25/12/2025 19:08

Twelfth Night for us too. It's not been up all that long.

CrispyK · 25/12/2025 19:09

🌲🌲🌲Come on everybody, the OP is so very obviously on a wind up here!
Unless you have good reason (e.g. you’re going away and won’t be back until after twelfth night) nobody who is sound of mind takes their tree down on Christmas day!

@RampantIvy
OP is here, but they didn’t care for a discussion, they’re just wasting everyone’s time

NotSorry · 25/12/2025 19:19

This thread appears every year without fail, OP is clearly just on a wind up

Are you Tesco?

🤣🤣🤣

Why would anyone bother putting a tree up, only to take it down on Christmas Day itself? Utter madness, imo!

Ours has always gone up around 16th-18th Dec and never comes down before 12th night. Even though our house is an ongoing renovation project we wouldn't consider not putting one up/taking it down early.

I can't decide what's sadder. One, that anyone might actually do this, or two, that someone has decided it would improve their Christmas day to post a wind up thread about taking the tree down today.

Mine will stay up till Candlemas 😁

23doorsdown · 25/12/2025 19:24

@Diamondsbutnoknickers Home bargains!

Terriblytwee · 25/12/2025 19:27

People have many reasons to take it down before Twelfth Night. I'm not sure why so many people on Mumsnet have a problem with what other people do.

MNs wouldn’t exist if this wasn’t the case!

ABeerInTheSunshineMakesMeHappy · 25/12/2025 19:35

I only have a few decorations - around the fire place and a little tree, but they will stay up until 5th January. Unless the tree dies anyway. I probably need to water it.

ABeerInTheSunshineMakesMeHappy · 25/12/2025 19:37

Thinking about it, first time ever I took my tree down on boxing day last year as we went away the following day and didn’t return until mid January.

Sonolanona · 25/12/2025 19:49

Sunday here, as we have birthdays straight afterwards..three in a week.
But the tree (rooted) will go to my allotment into bigger pot to hopefully come back to the house next year!

Christmas Day is the start of Christmas, not the end!

This! I wondered how long it would take for one of these threads to pop up. So joyless. 🙄

blueskydays45 · 25/12/2025 19:53

Ours will come down on 4th Jan, before we all go back to school and work. Still so much more Christmas to enjoy!

FestiveFruitloop · 25/12/2025 20:05

Elmspringwater · 25/12/2025 18:06

Lol i put mine straight in the bin.

How ungrateful.

SqueakyDinosaur · 25/12/2025 20:08

Who’s taking down their Christmas tree today?

Mad, joyless fuckers. That’s who. HTH.

stargirl1701 · 25/12/2025 16:46

It only went up on Christmas Eve!

Did you celebrate Christmas during Advent, OP?

Edited

Tends to be the case. Someone was saying in November that they’d started celebrating on November 1st. I can’t get my head round it.

TubeScreamer · 25/12/2025 20:20

4th January for me (because short of time on the 5th). Today is the start of Christmas for me.

JustMyView13 · 25/12/2025 20:21

The first Saturday in January. So 3rd this year.

tsmainsqueeze · 25/12/2025 20:25

So miserable taking it down tomorrow, boxing day is the best , the rush mainly over , fridge full of left overs , lazy day relaxing looking at the Christmas tree and the fairy lights in your cosy living room .
The last thing i would thing of doing tomorrow.
