Or is it too soon?

OP posts:
DinoLil · 25/12/2025 16:29

I didn't bother putting one up.

dailyconniptions · 25/12/2025 16:30

Pathetic to take it down on Christmas day. That's what it's about. So weird.

BeeHive909 · 25/12/2025 16:31

Mines coming down Saturday or Sunday. Would normally leave it up but I’ve got engineers coming Mondays and where they are working is where the tree is and I can’t be bothered to move it so it’s coming down .

We keep everything up until Twelfth Night.

KitsyWitsy · 25/12/2025 16:31

Yawn. Christmas has barely started for me. I put the tree up a week or so ago but we are christmassy till the 1st of January which is when I get fed up of it all. I know there's technically still more christmas after that but I am done by the first.

Seainasive · 25/12/2025 16:31

12th Night of course!

PeonyPatch · 25/12/2025 16:32

On Christmas Day? You are bonkers 😂😂

Mrsmch123 · 25/12/2025 16:35

Ours will come down tomorrow. Need the space for the mountain of toys😅

Elmspringwater · 25/12/2025 16:35

I never put one up.

I know a few people that take their trees and decs down when the kids are in bed.

I know a few that have done it duing the day they are the ones that dont do xmas any more.

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 25/12/2025 16:39

🐐

ConnieHeart · 25/12/2025 16:40

Too soon. Why are some people always looking for change and not living in the present moment

sanityisamyth · 25/12/2025 16:40

We haven’t put one up this year, but it’s supposed to come down by the 5th January (Twelfth night). Seems pointless to put one up for it to come down on the 1st Day of Christmas.

YourMotherSortsSocksInHell · 25/12/2025 16:41

Q. Who's taking their Christmas tree down today?

A. Nobody.

gogomomo2 · 25/12/2025 16:41

This is the first day of Christmas, take down on 12th night

Sortalike · 25/12/2025 16:42

No way am I taking down the tree on Christmas Night.

  1. I can't move off the sofa as I'm too stuffed
  2. Because I can't move off the sofa as I'm too stuffed, I can't get the boxes down from the loft.
  3. Can't get the boxes out the loft because I've had too much to drink and going in the loft is definitely a sober job.
  4. I don't want to
  5. Not having Christmas Dinner until tomorrow.

6) I'm not a miserable bugger

We only decorated ours on Saturday!

But these days there are 2 camps, traditionalist who see Christmas Day as the start of 12 days (with Advent before), and modernist who see Christmas Day as the culmination of 25 days of increasing festivities.

You do you.

This is interesting.

I much, much prefer the idea of the 12 days of Christmas and Christmas Day being the start of the festivities. Im not religious though so have never really been around people who view it this way, does it tend to be quite devout Christians who do it this way?

I have young kids so unfortunately we get dragged into a lot of festivities all through December, putting us more in the second camp.

But either way, taking the tree down on Christmas Day is absurd and very much indicates that you put it up far too soon.

moose17 · 25/12/2025 16:44

our will be coming down tomorrow night

hyggetyggedotorg · 25/12/2025 16:45

I have a friend who’ll take all of her decorations down tomorrow. But that because her autistic DS’s birthday is the 28th & before she started doing that he didn’t know he’d had a birthday.

Now. 25th = Christmas. 26th = tidy up. 27th = normal house. 28th = birthday.

PS5Gamer · 25/12/2025 16:45

I’ve just been gifted some lovely Swarovski Christmas decs. I’ve put them straight on the tree, and plan on keeping it up until Twelfth night.

vanillalattes · 25/12/2025 16:45

Ours stays up until the New Year.

Did you celebrate Christmas during Advent, OP?

BunnyLake · 25/12/2025 16:47

I’ve never heard of anyone taking it down on Christmas day?

bitterexwife · 25/12/2025 16:48

Mapletree1985 · 25/12/2025 16:48
