How ridiculous 🙄 Would you take your birthday cards down before it had even ended?

Lol i put mine straight in the bin.

Middlemarch123 · 25/12/2025 18:09

I’ll take the decks down on Saturday, I just like an uncluttered house. And my cats are even getting fed up with playing football with the tree baubles. And I’m getting fed up standing on the bloody things (baubles not cats)!🐈‍⬛

It is Christmas Day! Why on earth take it down now?

I didn't get round to putting it up this year! I normally have one up from the weekend before Christmas till Jan 2nd.

23doorsdown · 25/12/2025 18:14

Mine is down now & I am getting out the Easter bits tmw.

Vartden · 25/12/2025 18:14

Christmas has changed since I was a child. Christmas trees went up a week or so before the actual day and came down on twelth night. Now the run up to Christmas goes on for months with Christmas " experiences" to be visited and notched up from at least November 1st . So much so that for some people Christmas is practically over by the actual day. I prefer it the old way but if you want to spend Christmas evening taking it down , do so.
What are you doing tomorrow? Shopping for Easter eggs?

In front of the givers, @Elmspringwater?

There's another 11 days of Christmas to go.

Whilst I don't follow this at all. I do agree that Xmas day is too soon! I will have mine down by new years eve. I like to start the new year with a deep cleaned house.

Tomorrow I will start cleaning away small stuff.

This. Controverialist bullshit.

Anyway Happy Christmas.

Why post this on Christmas Day, can't they give it a rest for just one day?

No they use to send them in the post, id pick them up from the front door and straight to the bin.
Why bother sending cards when they dont even talk to me, i mean whats the point, its thought that counts its bullcrap.

Davros · 25/12/2025 18:25

I’ve got to take mine down on 3rd because it’s being collected on 4th to be eaten by the goats at the local city farm

Pistolpunk · 25/12/2025 18:25

I'm leaving the trees up until the 3rd january

Natsku · 25/12/2025 18:25

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 25/12/2025 17:32

My DM has always been very strict on the tree coming down on 6th January, not before or after (unless she was going to be away). I stick with that, especially because that is also Nollaig na mBan (women's Christmas) so all the work falls to DH. Grin

I like the idea of Women's Christmas, can I steal this tradition?

molifly · 25/12/2025 18:32

Tomorrow here

UnimatrixZeroOne · 25/12/2025 18:33

Tree down tomorrow. Lights stay up for months.

Zippedydodah · 25/12/2025 18:36

My record is up Christmas Eve, down Boxing Day….
This year the decorations went up on the 19th, will probably come down next week sometime.

isthisrealorarethosefake · 25/12/2025 18:37

Mine was up for under 24 hours, i have 2 kittens and i was so worried about them hanging themselves on the lights as they kept climbing it, so i took it down. Kept the ornaments out and a few other lights and its actually been lovely. Not sure ill bother with the tree in future now.

PrincessSakura · 25/12/2025 18:37

Why? It’s still Christmas, I’d have the tree up all year if I could, mine has been up since the start of November, won’t be coming down until the 5th of Jan!

Only2daystogo · 25/12/2025 18:40

Newbutoldfather · 25/12/2025 17:18

Real tree.

Goes up mid December, comes down first Saturday after New Year (roughly 12 day).

With water in the stand, it lasts about three weeks without shedding much.

Why would anyone take the tree down ahead of New Year?!

Ours last from the start of Dec to 12th night.

Are you Tesco?

Diamondsbutnoknickers · 25/12/2025 18:44

Mine went up last week. It will come down a few days before New Year's.

Newsenmum · 25/12/2025 18:47

Not yet. It needs to be up so you can keep eating rubbish and watching christmas tv.

Pregnancy3panic · 25/12/2025 18:53

My DS1 has an early December birthday and we normally postpone putting up the tree until afterwards, so he feels he gets a birthday. So up on December 7th, down on Jan 5th here. We have a real tree which is still going strong.

My kids came down with chickenpox in the last week of term and so missed their nativity plays and some other parties and visits we'd had planned. They've recovered now, thankfully, so we are going to be treating the next 10 days as "proper" Christmas this year more than ever.

inickedthisname · 25/12/2025 18:58

Of course it’s too soon!

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 25/12/2025 19:01

Tomorrow, but the cat is trying to eat it and it's poisonous to cats.

Although I always take it down on Boxing Day anyway as I need the space back.
