Light hearted. I know it’s not the end of the world.

So Sainsburys have emailed.

no spiced red cabbage and they’ve substituted cauliflower cheese for it (yuck)

no pigs in blankets and they’ve substituted sausage rolls instead 🤷🏻‍♀️

no giant smarties tube and they’ve substituted white smarties. No thanks

no nice crisps and they’ve substituted horrible crisps.

eleven things missing in total. Looks like I’m going to have to actually visit a supermarket 😆

My Sainsbury's order is coming tomorrow afternoon - I have been exceptionally brave!! We are off out for breakfast in the morning, so hopefully our email receipt will have arrived by the time breakfast is finished and I can nip to Waitrose/M&S for anything missing that we desperately need.

Christmas dinner is here already (M&S food to order we collected today) so that will be fine, it's just the extra bits/snacks/dinners around Christmas that we need to ensure are delivered tomorrow so I'm not too worried.

What kind of absolute monster would sub pigs in blankets with sausage rolls...they're having a giraffe! Sending you my deepest sympathies 💐

MummyInTheNecropolis · 23/12/2025 14:38

Tesco delivery this morning, no substitutions and the only item missing was a lemon tart which I popped out and bought in Sainsbury’s instead. It was on offer so got it a bit cheaper anyway which was good.

Hmmmmwineandchocs · 23/12/2025 14:43

Asda delivery arrived and all that as unavailable was bake at home croissants so I’m very happy 😄
Collected our meat order from the butcher this morning so all good there.

No goose fat roast potatoes, they sent frozen chips instead. Lovely

My 4 year old would be delighted with that. He reckons he 'doesn't like' roast potatoes, so I will be cutting the bastard potatoes into rectangular shapes in a doomed attempt to convince him they're the same as chips.

Slingsanderrors · 23/12/2025 14:47

Sainsbury’s delivery this morning, email at 6.20am to say no big cornfed chicken (our Christmas meat!) and no spiced red cabbage. Sent H to Tesco where he managed to get both.
Christmas isn’t cancelled!

Baddaybigcloud · 23/12/2025 15:01

No cream, bread or coffee for me!

Gardener82 · 23/12/2025 15:07

No Ice Cubes, no substitute.
No Gingerbread Cake substituted for a chocolate cake.
No reindeer Malteasers, substituted for Cadburys chocolate pudding balls.

pinkpony88 · 23/12/2025 15:15

Mine came today. Nothing missing and no substitutions. Felt like I’d won the supermarket lottery 🤣

TellMeItsNotTrue · 23/12/2025 19:25

We didn't do too badly, few things missing that my parents have been able to pick up for me (I'm disabled and rely on my shopping being delivered all year)

But I ordered these for the kids stockings, and I'm not sure how well the replacement of actual sprouts will go down on Christmas morning 🤣

Mine has eventually arrived and the only sub was a different bag of logs than I'd originally ordered. Thankfully, it wasn't the awful dusty, compacted logs after all. Result.

Only managed a Tesco click and collect despite being online ready to order at 5am that morning. Went to collect tonight, just the Brussels pate x 2, one tray of party food and a lovely looking berry pavlova missing. Nipped to Asda for pate, they didnt have any nice Brussels so bought some cheaper stuff but went to Aldi and managed to get some. Sadly I cant seem to replace the pavolva so youngest DD has offered to go out on a mission tomorrow as she really wants pavlova for dessert.

Well in desperation this morning I’ve made a Xmas cake 🤣. Next year I am definitely buying one in Oct!

Still going in the stockings 🤣

Made me laugh, could have been worse 😂

I get they've linked it through "sprouts" but maybe, just maybe, any generic "chocolate" would have been a better substitute 🤔😂

FiddlefigOnTheRoof · 24/12/2025 05:30

Ocado

  • no big smoked salmon loin from M&S (but part of the late night snacking and Xmas breakfast)
  • half the cheeseboard gone

not too bad given previous Ocado xmas shops. I trust them so little at Xmas (rest of the year they are great) that I order all long life stuff several weeks in advance.

gingercat02 · 24/12/2025 08:10

Sainsbury's
Not too bad, nothing vital
Rolls for part baked
Charcuterie swapped for parma ham
TTD crackers for Jacobs crackers
TTD Sauage meat for Sainsbury's own brand
Asian inspired snacks swapped for Indian inspired
Will keep them all but not the (weirdly as for pp) red cabbage for cauliflower cheese!
I'm at work so will call in the co-op on my way home for red cabbage and table crackers as totally forgot them!

Cairneyes · 24/12/2025 08:17

Had one delivery order, all present and correct, and one Click and Collect order. They didn’t have carrots! Unfortunately, when I got home, the trifle, salmon terrine and prawn cocktail I had ordered and was showing on my receipt was missing and I had to go back to get them , they were still in the supermarket. Mind you, they gave me a nice bottle of wine for my troubles!

itbemay1 · 24/12/2025 08:33

Swapped garden peas for petit pois and no Dijon mustard.. feel quite lucky after reading some of the pp. merry Christmas all.

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 24/12/2025 08:41

Mine was missing potatoes, but it turned out that was because I hadn't ordered them! I did click and collect precisely so I could get anything I'd forgotten, etc and it wasn't too busy in the store. They subbed filo pastry for puff, so I declined that and it was on the shelves anyway. I think the click and collect orders were picked before the store delivery was put on the shelves. I have now discovered I don't have enough onions but I'm popping out for a prescription so will get some when I do that.

diyisnotmyforte · 24/12/2025 08:47

Waitrose - just delivered. Actually not too bad… normal Brussel sprouts replaced with baby ones, Christmas tree waffles replaced for star crumpets and clementine cream with contreau instead of brandy cream. I’ll probably pop out and pick that up.

Italiandreams · 24/12/2025 08:51

Turkey! Although it was when I amended my shop the night before, it said it was no longer available even though I preordered it in November! Bloody Asda! Luckily Sainsbury’s has plenty left! Last time I use Asda I think, I had 12 substitutions when it actually came too.

mondaytosunday · 24/12/2025 08:54

A few but the only one that counts is I ordered 900gr of Brussels sprouts (5 bags of 180), and they have substituted ONE bag of 200gr for it! So, unexpected trip to supermarket today! They also substituted apple crumble for sticky toffee pudding and said ‘no appropriate sub’ for the meal deal wine - so I’m going to have to check how the ‘meal deal’ works in that case (and hard to believe there was no other red wine of equal value in the whole store).

mondaytosunday · 24/12/2025 08:57

@Cairneyesyou could have my carrots - I ordered a kilo but just realised I already had a kilo…

Gcn · 24/12/2025 08:59

V successful shop delivered last night by Tesco. Only thing unavailable was fresh thyme, and the red cabbage is tiny, but Xmas can go ahead
