What teabags do you buy?

What teabags do you buy? And are they what you'd consider THE best teabags that money can buy?

Like I buy own brand instant coffee, but I do think Nescafe gold blend smooth is THE best instant coffee.

Im talking black classic English style tea, nothing fancy or flavoured.

I used to drink Twinings assam which had a nice malty taste but when I switched to decaf due to sleep problems it’s Yorkshire tea for me

Whole leaf Assam, preferably first flush.

Do you get first flush then? or settle for second?

We have Yorkshire tea. Everything else tastes rank in compassion.

Interested to hear all those saying Yorkshire gold... Does it really taste much different to regular Yorkshire?

Partridgewell · 17/12/2025 21:16

Clipper English breakfast tea - the best!

BorgQueen · 17/12/2025 21:33
  1. Yorkshire tea
  2. Thompson’s Gold - only Morrisons seem to sell it.
  3. Sainsburys’s English breakfast.

Money no issue : Fortnum and Masons Afternoon blend

Clipper Everyday Organic. I just can't drink anything else these days. It's the perfect cup of tea.

SparkyBlue · 17/12/2025 21:53

Barry’s

ShodAndShadySenators · 17/12/2025 21:53

Yorkshire and Yorkshire Gold, no contest.

But I also like M&S Gold, Thompson's, Dorset Tea (I used to get that in TK Maxx, alas no longer) and Twinings English Breakfast.

Was brought up on Tetley but it doesn't suit hard water so tasted grim to us after we'd moved. Soft water is far better for making tea.

I believe Yorkshire were working on a way to do without the strengthening plastics in their teabags when covid hit, and the project was shelved. Shame as they could do with working on that again. I hate having to put teabags in the rubbish bin instead of the composters.

dehydratedcactus · 17/12/2025 21:54

We love Thompsons signature in the gold bag, although their everyday blend is good too if the gold isn't on special offer 😅

Sandinyourshoes · 17/12/2025 21:58

Tesco Assam teabags. Or any Assam. Nothing worse than weak tea or powdery tea that sets you off coughing later.

snoooze · 17/12/2025 21:58

I love a Tetley tea
