What teabags do you buy?

What teabags do you buy? And are they what you'd consider THE best teabags that money can buy?

Like I buy own brand instant coffee, but I do think Nescafe gold blend smooth is THE best instant coffee.

Im talking black classic English style tea, nothing fancy or flavoured.

Thomson's Scottish Blend... deliciously refreshing with our soft water.

sunnieday · 17/12/2025 19:07

I also did not know this exists! I was wondering why there wasn't a solution for that floating stuff you get if you wait too long to add your milk

I switched from Twinings to Clipper when only the latter was plastic free, and have generally been a real tea snob. I do love Clipper still but have discovered Aldi Gold is absolutely great and will happily just buy that now.

I drink 1 caffienated cup a day & the rest decaf. At the moment we have PG Tips for both.
Favourites would be Yorkshire Tea & Twinings English Breakfast. Dorset Tea & Clipper are also nice. But PG Tips is nice enough & cheaper… & we get through a lot of tea and coffee. I’m interested in trying the Aldi dupes after reading some replies.
Coffee, we have Lavazza for our machine and always a jar of decaf - my favourite is Kenco Gold but at the moment we have Nescafé Gold which is nice.

cantbearsed27 · 17/12/2025 19:12

I've got Clipper at the mo but I think Dorset Gold is my favourite.

Hedgehogsaremyjam · 17/12/2025 19:12

Thompson Irish breakfast and for decaffeinated we have a leaf ceylon from The Brew tea company

sunnieday · 17/12/2025 19:15

Excuse my ignorance, but why is gold tea winning? I never would have thought to try it.

Im doing my online shop now I'm going to try a new box. I always get PG tips and I don't actually like them.

So far (according to my rough tally), we have:
M&S 12

  • 5 Gold
  • 4 Strong
  • 3 Red

Yorkshire Tea 12

  • 5 Gold
  • 4 Decaf
  • 1 Hard Water

Barry's 8

Twinnings 6

  • 4 English breakfast
  • 2 Strong English breakfast

PG Tips 3

Rington's 3

M&S red label - great value and taste!

Same for me-I prefer it to the gold one.

Moggies3 · 17/12/2025 19:18

Biscuit Brew
Yorkshire Tea

I can't drink anything else

Mooninjune · 17/12/2025 19:19

I prefer leaf tea made in a teapot. I have a pot every evening. But at lunch time I have cup of teabag tea.
Sorry to lower the tone of the thread but I use Sainsbury's Red label own brand teabags. I accept they aren't the best quality but I find them perfectly fine and they are a good price, especially when bought in the 240 size.

Hmmmmwineandchocs · 17/12/2025 19:20

Twinings English Breakfast or Twinings extra strong, great bold flavours

jadoreyes · 17/12/2025 19:21

In the morning, Clipper or Yorkshire Gold.
In the afternoon, Fortnum's smoky Earl Grey.

BillieWiper · 17/12/2025 19:22

The ones I love and try to get are Twinings English Breakfast. I also don't mind Twinings Everyday as second choice.

PG tips changed from decent to absolute muck overnight. I used to drink that for 35 odd years till they switched.

Yorkshire tea is really really strong. But my mum loves it.

justasking111 · 17/12/2025 19:22

Twinings earl grey for tea. Although there is a Welsh tea made for our soft water which is okay

Azurra decaf instant coffee. It's the only one I've found that I like in the decaf range.

MrsBeltane · 17/12/2025 19:22

Twinings Every Day tea.

Tcateh · 17/12/2025 19:23

Thompsons red packaging

A few weeks ago I went to an event in a church. They had made tea in a giant teapot, and it was the best cup of tea I have had in recent memory

familyissues12345 · 17/12/2025 19:25

tea pigs and another box of whatever is on offer - favourites are Clipper, Twinings and Yorkshire tea

Waitingforaprick · 17/12/2025 19:25

I only drink Teapigs darjeeling.

NancyAmesidontwanttotalkaboutit · 17/12/2025 19:25

DW is Tetley through and through.

RubynRita · 17/12/2025 19:27

Punjana, made by Thompsons is the best. My value teabag would be Sainsburys red label.

MrsLizzieDarcy · 17/12/2025 19:27

We buy Clipper organic, and then I buy M & S own brand decaff ones for the evenings.
