why is there no person or interest ?

The Reiner's son has already been named a person of interest.

Ddakji · 15/12/2025 07:17

What a dreadful thing.

bleakmidwintering · 15/12/2025 07:19

Why don’t people read the thread before posting?!

NeedANapAgain · 15/12/2025 07:48

The chief gave a press conference that was very vague, but the family already confirmed the details and that is was Nick Teiner who killed his parents.

Very sad. It’s no coincidence that many children of wealthy Liberals become troubled and are often drug addicts.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 15/12/2025 07:56

That's so dreadful.
He made some incredible films. I was only talking to one of my DNs yesterday about Misery and what a cracking film it is.

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 15/12/2025 07:57

@PInkyStarfish I think you'll find that drug use isn't confined to the offspring of Liberals. Ridiculous comment.

Aplycrumbly · 15/12/2025 08:07

That’s awful 😣 and the fact it was their son too. Will be very interested to hear the motivation, aside from drugs - because it sounds like there may have been a lot of hate there too.

ThePoshUns · 15/12/2025 08:10

Such awful news. Spinal Tap is my favourite film. He was such a talented man.

MaturingCheeseball · 15/12/2025 08:11

I was just saying to dh, if you’re wealthy and successful, don’t have children. The percentage of famous people’s dcs who are sadly mad or bad far exceeds the norm.

Why don’t people read the thread before posting?!

It's a mystery. It's not even a very long thread. Over and over again people open a thread, ignore the date and time it was started and the number of posts already on the thread, all of which are very clearly started at the top of the OP, and launch into a post that repeats what dozens of others have already said or is now irrelevant because it's all so old or because of information from subsequent posts from the OP.

PegDope · 15/12/2025 08:12

I didn’t know they had a son but when I read the headline my first thought was “it was probably their son”.

Male violence is out of control.

I'm not sure it has anything to do with wealth and success. A lot of kids are absolutely insane these days, very politically-motivated and ideologically-driven. The more wealth and success you have, the more comfortable and easy raising children becomes.

Interestingly, also no coincidence that sad and shocking news like this brings out the shittiest comments. Makes one wonder why some people just can't resist politicizing a thread like this. 🧐

MN demonstrates how many people seem to be functionally illiterate.

It's worrying.

EleanorReally · 15/12/2025 08:27

or perhaps most people like to get their news from official sources not unknown posters on mn.

I am devastated!

When Harry Met Sally (my all-time favourite film) and The Princess Bride are watched every Christmas in our house.

There is so much of Rob Reiner in When Harry Met Sally - lots of dialogue is based on real conversations between RR and Billy Crystal and Nora Ephron. And Harry and Sally getting together at the end only happened because he met and fell in love with his wife during filming and believed in love again.

An absolute tragedy.

Americano75 · 15/12/2025 08:28

What a tragic end to his and his wife story. He leaves an amazing legacy but my God, his poor family.

ConstitutionHill · 15/12/2025 08:30

Manova14 · 15/12/2025 04:33

Jesus, how tragic. I hope they rest in peace. This is Spinal Tap is one of the greatest films ever made.

It truly is! He seemed like a lovely man.

I think what is sad is comments like this that imply that we should only feel empathy for poor or non liberal parents. Parenting in the modern world is complex. Growing up in the modern world is a minefield. Assuming that ‘having money’ will fix any issues and thus that parents with access to funds are somehow deserving of less empathy is actually beyond sad.

It reeks of ‘well, they probably deserved it as they should have known better’.

So sad when a family implodes like this, no matter who its members are.
