Don Snoreleone trying to stay awake long enough to bring all his racist dreams to fruition. So when can we bring about his personal "civilisational erasure”?

I saw "National Guard" in big friendly letters on their backs, when they turned round.

Like the scene in The Avengers in which Steed has been showing off about wine all episode, and right at the end of the episode Peel tells him exactly what they are drinking; he is surprised and says he didn't know she was a wine buff, and she cheerfully tells him she isn't: she read the label.

We so need the smiley emoji

Mark Hammil's account is great.

Hah. Did you see him on Jimmy Kimmel where they were trying to get passers by to recognise him? It was very amusing

👀

Oh my goodness, this Wall Street Journal piece about Trump's ailing health that includes an interview with him (gift link https://www.wsj.com/us-news/as-signs-of-aging-emerge-trump-responds-with-defiance-769c5dcd?st=zxxwVU&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink). There are a number of ridiculous details in it and I'll put a few of them in this thread. (1/6)

Props to the bluesky poster who notes in the comments that we're expected to believe both that he has skin so thin it bleeds and bruises at the smallest contact and, simultaneously, that he healed so well from a gunshot to the ear that the wound was invisible in days.

*Not that I'm promoting any conspiracy theories. Just asking questions, as our MAGA friends like to say.

I also loved the thing about how he's not sleeping in meetings, he's blinking. Those are some mighty loooooong blinks. He might want to see someone about that.

Happy New Year everyone

The inauguration of Mamdani was a really good event / very uplifting. Made a lovely change

Serpentstooth · 01/01/2026 23:25

I think the quantity of daily aspirin is contributing to a series of 'mini-strokes' thus losing words, meandering off, suddenly dozing. Never mind, he has the Best Doctors, Doctors to the Stars. Like Matthew Perry did.

It really was. My fingers are crossed for his success. NYC is notoriously tricky to manage, but he's a rare political talent and seems to have done some real work around assembling his team.

Lalgarh · 02/01/2026 09:41

I did note Mamdani saying he'd make it easier for small businesses and building by freeing up bureaucracy and red tape.

Distinctly Tory sounding and would be anathema to the DSA

But the dirty truth is a lot of "red tape" is really just another grift.

I mean the ultimate "red tape" is the law. And people do very nicely out of ensuring that remains the preserve of the elites.

For every cheer from MAGA as a DEI regulation is scrapped there is a groan from a bunch of Trump supporting grifters who have built a business around "compliance".

I actually think it's a pretty brilliant strategy on his part to pick and choose between different philosophies to figure out what's actually going to work. I mean, this is straight up from the 'abundance' democrats' playbook, since it seems to be primarily around getting housing built. Good on him.

Elon Musk demonstrating just how important it is to him to protect women from male abuse. Again.

Clare McGlynn, a law professor at Durham University, said X or Grok "could prevent these forms of abuse if they wanted to", adding they "appear to enjoy impunity".
"The platform has been allowing the creation and distribution of these images for months without taking any action and we have yet to see any challenge by regulators," she said.
XAI's own acceptable use policy prohibits "depicting likenesses of persons in a pornographic manner".

The BBC has seen several examples of it undressing women and putting them in sexual situations without their consent.

It's worse than that, it involves minors.

AcrossthePond55 · 02/01/2026 19:29

Jeez Louise! I am so glad that I 1-have no SM (ie Facebarf, Insta etc) and 2-was a young woman pre-internet.

As far as I'm concerned these deepfake/AI generated nudes should be considered a form of sexual assault, not just some sort of non-consensual 'dissemination of images'. To me it's no different than someone ripping my clothes off in a public place.

Ooh look Iran is back on the bingo card. How exciting 😒

Talkinpeace · 02/01/2026 22:04

I am following the Iran stuff VERY closely.

Hopefully the US and Israel will leave the Iranian people to make their own decisions.

Serpentstooth · 02/01/2026 22:33

Oh dear, Talkinpeace , response to that can only be hollow laughter. I wonder what's stirring up dissent in Iran necessitating a response from Pigly at a time when he feels he's not got enough favourable spotlight on him. It's a mystery.

Talkinpeace · 02/01/2026 22:47

I have been folowing the stuff there since 2022
when Trump was not in office.

Well he’s got to do something about his falling poll number, doesn’t he….
