A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Is it just me or are the December trade figures going to be 'Appalling' . I have never seen Shops, Town Centres Cinemas and other leisure business so dead 12 days before Christmas . The country feels like mid January, yet we are in Mid December, the numbers are going to be Catastrophic when released in February. 2026 is going to be the worst year for the United Kingdom since 1945 ! Both Economically and be the tipping point Socially .

The Green Party are all over the place 10% on More in Common, yet 18% on Find Out Now. Are the posters asking two different questions..

We've been having windows replaced this week by a local FENSA-registered self-employed fitter. He's a good worker, meticulous and conscientious.

We were chatting just now about the dire state of the economy and he said after he's finished here he has one other job and a quotation booked in for January. Normally he'd be booked up four months in advance, with any slack being taken up by doing odd days for the larger double-glazing companies - and they'd be ringing him to help clear their backlog.

He said he's spent years urging his wife to reduce her hours, but is thanking his lucky stars she ignored him.

@Parsley4321I can’t recall what you posted but it’s the post below that’s gone. Be careful we get a fair few reading and some reporting. Don’t want to see you banhammered.

We’ve not had any explanation have we from Reeves about why the budget was announced so far away, or, why she allowed uncertainty to go on for so long.

all we’ve had is leaks and media created the uncertainty (not what respected political journalists say), and that the situation was as dire as she made out so she didn’t lie…

Parsley4321 · 12/12/2025 11:22

It was the post about me being fed up of working 40 days plus with nothing to show for it 😳

Not allowed to say that? 🤷‍♀️

Julen7 · 12/12/2025 13:01

Ooh it’s the Labour Treasury watchdog saying that too….

@EmeraldRoulette, going back to your post yesterday about the private sector becoming like the public sector in attitude and using court delays as an example of this; I'm a litigation solicitor and we have no choice but to accept the Court delays. They're bloody shocking and I often have a moan about it with my opponents and a reminiscing about when the Court was good!

My firm is on a steering committee with HMCTS and we regularly give feedback. To no avail.

Bane of my sodding life, frankly! And I can assure you that nobody I know is adopting slack practices in an 'if you can't beat them, join them' fashion!

Turning to Kemi, I just saw a reel of PMQs: 'Wrong!' Bloody love her! I honestly think that she'll start to turn the Tory fortunes round once she is seen more.

Kemi made me laugh.

Impeccable comic timing - with Starmer playing the straight man, as usual….

Did you see his shaking hands? 🤔

EmeraldRoulette · 12/12/2025 15:22

@NoWordForFluffy Sorry, I should've been clearer about public sector and the influence on private sector. My solicitor was very good. I probably didn't explain it well, but in spite of being familiar with ridiculous court delays, he knew when a delay needed to be questioned, (hence the looking into paperwork and finding it undelivered in the post office).

With the ideas feeding through, I'm not sure how to explain this coherently. However, I can see there was a recent deletion which referenced the public sector so it's probably best if I don't try to explain anymore.

I am not labelling all public sector workers as awful by the way - far from it. I think probably a lot of them are very good but battling the machine, or the blob of bureaucracy.

Yes, lol.

The sheer temerity of the woman! Starmer strikes me as a nasty POW behind closed doors.

I remember his petty bullying answer when Kemi asked if Reeves would be in a job and he sneered ‘she won’t be’ meaning Kemi.

She’s great, good on her for dishing it back in spades, karma there.

I'm reminded of the "staring episode" involving the junior female barrister. Very nasty indeed.

Parsley4321 · 12/12/2025 16:31

It was my post that got deleted for many reasons Kemi is on bloody fire. Shes as cool as a cucumber and very witty with it totally enjoying her time it would be hilarious to watch if it wasn’t so important.
there’s another thread running about imminent threat of destabilising the west I am so concerned for my sons age

Yes and iirc correctly, Allison Bailey (the lesbian barrister who was discriminated against by her chambers for her GC views) did not have anything good to say about him either.

Although we may be referring to the same barrister @DancingFerret ?

It looks like Labour membership has collapsed going by headlines. It’s the sneery arrogance that does it.

Whenever I read posts in that tone and listen to Labour talk I think yeh I get why people loathe you.

Yes, I mean this was definitely going to happen, they were losing members hand over fist when they said they were going to stop reporting on the numbers. Just reading that there are less than 250,000 members now.

Given they were suggesting that there were 975,000 potential votes that could have been cast for Powell's job - you can see how significant the opinion and votes of members are to Labour Party relative to the other invested interests.
