@38thparallel yes but that's what I was expecting anyway. Fiona Goddard posted on X yesterday to say that she wondered what the point was of seeking justice and I really understood what she was saying.
When you look at things like Hillsborough and the post office, it absolutely breaks my heart how long it took people to get anything vaguely resembling some kind of "justice". I don't tend to say much about the enquiry into the rape gangs because I don't really have faith in any inquiries.
looked up information about the court backlog (David Lammy is using this as an excuse for getting rid of jury trials, why he can't just make a case I don't know, probably because he doesn't have one and I say that as someone who is/was? prepared to keep an open mind on that one) and found this quite interesting

Unfortunately, I was involved in a legal thing earlier this year and while the solicitor was good, chasing became even more key. Although he was chasing, there were a couple of oddities even in his mind, and he's obviously got used to a court backlog. One crucial piece of paper was found to be sitting in a post office re-delivery place. It seemed the court did not have anyone available to even receive post at around 6 pm, which surprised me.
I've talked on this thread before about my theory that public sector habits are spreading into the private sector. This will apply to courts in one sense, in that the private organisations they're dealing with will perhaps just think "oh it's public sector, and delays are standard"
Sorry to repeat myself, but while I knew there was going to be an issue with productivity post lockdown, I didn't think the government (any type) would be so reluctant to address it. Maybe it's not fixable though.
I can see there's a thread going on about workplaces is not responding to emails. My impression is that the "don't care" attitude with that is spreading as well.
And then I suppose you get people who are good and efficient who are just really pissed off, but as long as those people are a minority, they can't battle a majority who are being unproductive.
And I'm never happy with my own productivity level in winter and I get accused of perfectionism and stuff. I don't lead a team though. The only person who has to live up to my standards is me. Although I really don't feel I'm doing a good job at the moment <wanders off to check over work>
