Government unveils £3bn investment to expand school places for children with Send

Excellent news but hopefully not at the expense of special schools. Both special schools and support within mainstream schools have their place.

Amanda Hopgood is one of ours. Mostly serving as a thorn in the side of our current Reform Council.

From BBC. Some is by cancelling free schools in areas where there are falling rolls. I do wonder about the issue (by the Conservatives but potentially valid) of cancelling projects virtually ready to go with funds in place). Hesdteachers note that this is capital so hopefully some more for SEND other support through a range of staff.

A blonde haired boy in a grey uniform stands at a desk doing a craft. Some other students are sitting at a table. A teacher at the top of the class wearing a purple top looks at some of their work.

Councils given £3bn to create thousands more spaces for Send pupils - BBC News

The government is promising 50,000 more places for children with special educational needs in schools in England.

and that's why we have working at height health and safety regulations - though no doubt many would call that woke!

Sad event for his family and friends.

What a waste. All for some poxy flags. His poor family.

The only thing worse would be if an honour guard of Welsh (odd place for it to happen, really) turned up at the funeral.

Not a candidate for the Darwin awards, but maybe one for the slush pile.

He was English and the incident was in Bristol, where he lived. Nothing to do with Wales!

I'm disproportionately annoyed on behalf of all football fans that a member of a hooligan Firm is being called a 'football fan' in headlines.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 12/12/2025 16:29

While I have sympathy for his family I can't help thinking that Play stupid games. Win stupid prizes. applies here.

Mr Lumber is believed to be the first person in the country to receive a football banning order when they were introduced, and spent several spells in prison in his younger days for football-related violence.
But I'm sure he really had an 'eart of gold and was kind to his mother.

"It was a different time"

You can see Farage has been getting his excuses in early.

Talking of football hooligans, isn’t tomorrow supposed to be the big putting Christ back into Christmas sing along? Has Tommy ten names found a venue yet?

It is now an outdoor event. It is going to be a bit chilly but not freezing, more's the pity.

The state of this. Is he wearing that Burberry on purpose to look vaguely like a dog collar or something?

Is it me or is his nose starting to look odd?👃 ❄️

RafaistheKingofClay · 12/12/2025 18:43

Hilariously, the met police are referring to it as a protest in their plans for covering 3 protests in the same area tomorrow.

Even more hilariously, when browsing his Twitter feed to try and find the venue it appears the high court are now after him for £103k for costs over the case where they jailed him for contempt of court. Must go look out my tiny violin. I assume a lot of grifting will be going on and the crowd fund is being started as we speak.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 12/12/2025 19:01

Does anyone know where in London this is taking place tomorrow? Couldn't find anything on their website. Keen to advise DS1 and hIs GF where to avoid tomorrow in case they aren't aware of it.

RafaistheKingofClay · 12/12/2025 19:05

Whitehall. Just at the end of Downing Street. The anti digital ID is on one side of them and stand up to racism on the other side.

Evenstar · 12/12/2025 19:15

I think this is a very good suggestion from Ed Davey

He is also suing Farage for libel. Good to see the far right at each other's throats.

Eta, threatening to sue, I should have said. Robinson has sent Farage a letter before action.

It would seem rather poor form to fly flags at half mast as the cortege passes.

RafaistheKingofClay · 12/12/2025 19:51

I do actually love the fact the Farage has a moral line in the sand. And that line is don’t touch Robinson with a barge pole.

It’s an extremely low bar. But however low Farage goes there’s always that bit of him that knows that getting involved with TR would be worse. Which says a lot about Robinson and the people that hang about with him.
