How many "Christmas Parties" are you going to?

Just interested as every year the media goes big for "Christmas Party season" and I imagine everyone is going to a string of Christmas Parties every other night.

I'm going to three although none of them will be particularly wild!

Three more than me!

JudgeBread · 27/11/2025 21:13

Zero.

I love Christmas, I absolutely fucking hate Christmas parties.

TheChosenTwo · 27/11/2025 21:14

I think 5 Christmas get togethers but definitely not parties!
one is my work Christmas do, meal out at lunchtime and then the pub after.
A couple of dinners out with different groups of friends and a couple of drinks nights out with others.

One party, at someone’s house in a couple of weeks’ time. Already socially anxious about it, and worrying because I don’t know if it will be shoes on or off and my outfit choices depend on that.

Whyjustwhy83 · 27/11/2025 21:16

Zero

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 27/11/2025 21:17

Im going to 3, two work ones and a pal’s one that will be 60% toddlers. That’s quite enough. I’m having my mum and dad over for a pre-Christmas buffet tomorrow night and I’m having conniptions!

Sleepyandtiredandlazy · 27/11/2025 21:17

I've never been to a Christmas party!
Unless you count the office drinking session on the evening when we closed for the holiday.

I'm not a party person- I don't look good in party clothes.

NotrialNodeal · 27/11/2025 21:17

None!

Allswellthatendswelll · 27/11/2025 21:17

I'm including drinks parties and work dos in this btw

None

Work meal and book club meal. That’s it. So not parties as such, but meals out.

Mum2Fergus · 27/11/2025 21:20

None, thankfully!

Fluffydogonmylap · 27/11/2025 21:20

None. I bloody hate Xmas parties.
Every year I do an informal survey of a few colleagues. How many of you have the kind of magazine xmas that requires multiple sparkly outfits and 'desk to date' make up? Over the last 20 odd years the answer has been precisely zero.

SkibiddyRizz · 27/11/2025 21:21

Six. Only one will be wild. The others are just get togethers, drinks or dinners with lovely friends plus a work do. But i like my colleagues so I'll enjoy that too

I'm very thankful to have a lovely collection of friends. The family stuff is what i dread at Christmas (not immediate family. I love them with every bone in my body. The extended collection are mixed!! ).

GreyCloudsLooming · 27/11/2025 21:22

None. Perhaps no one holds them any more. Not invited to any, certainly. Nothing at work either.

SimplyBudgie · 27/11/2025 21:22

Three. One with work, one with school mums and one with my sisters.

NormasArse · 27/11/2025 21:23

I’m going on a walking weekend with a group.

And a gig weekend with two friends.

Might go to the pub and catch up one night.

That’s it. I’m not keen on parties, so I’ve swerved the work dos (love my co-workers, but it all sounds like hard work!).

One dinner/concert with an octogenarian fashionista (will have to plan my outfit carefully!).

Going away with my dad for NY (DH is working). Away with DH for a week in Jan when everything is calmer.

Checknotmymate · 27/11/2025 21:25

I've been to one sit down meal and declined 2 standy up party type events. Tbh even the meal was too noisy. I spent the entire night trying to hear people next to me and shouting to try and have a conversation.

Hungryhippos123 · 27/11/2025 21:25

Jesus most people on her are miserable!
I have a work Christmas do, book club Christmas meal, school mums meet up, we are hosting a party with all the kids, going to pub Christmas meet up just before Christmas etc. I love it!

mamaduckbone · 27/11/2025 21:25

One actual 'party', hosting drinks at ours, going out for drinks with a couple of other friends, work Christmas meal...definitely not a 'party season' in the Christmas ads sense of the world

CMOTDibbler · 27/11/2025 21:26

Zero. In fact apart from eating christmas lunch with dh, no events/meals/drinks at all

JetFlight · 27/11/2025 21:26

I’m going to 2 and a dinner

It’s not miserable to enjoy different things. There are ways of having a good time other than parties.

I’ll be going to one, I think. I’m self-employed so no work Christmas parties, but friends are having a celebration on Christmas Eve so I’ll pop along for a bit.
