How many "Christmas Parties" are you going to?

Just interested as every year the media goes big for "Christmas Party season" and I imagine everyone is going to a string of Christmas Parties every other night.

I'm going to three although none of them will be particularly wild!

Zero. A few of my colleagues have been pissing me off this year (our team once got on really well, but several changes ended that). Luckily for me, I had a good excuse to get out of our office Christmas party this year and took it gratefully!

HopSpringsEternal · 28/11/2025 00:06

2 with work, that will be fun to a point as I like my teams.
1 with football team.
1 where I volunteer
4 with friends
Also is 2 friends 50ths so have a weekend away and an big night clubbing. Eek!

HartleyH11 · 28/11/2025 00:09

None. I really dislike parties. I much prefer meeting up with friends for a day out at the races or something like that instead.

Im going to a New Year’s Eve party ( will be big I think and I will dress up) and I usually host something myself around the weekend before Xmas -better get the word out as I’ve not got it together but it’s kind of expected so probably be fine! I love it- well not the bloody cleaning beforehand but I do a proper push the furniture back, buffet, dancing, 80s style shindig and invite the neighbours. MN is probably the wrong place to ask this question though, as many people on here don’t even answer the door!

RowOfRunners · 28/11/2025 00:34

We are going to:

A Christmas dinner party - mid-December
A Christmas Eve drinks party - 2 hours early evening - at our friends’ house

That’s it.

Jesus most people on her are miserable!
I have a work Christmas do, book club Christmas meal, school mums meet up, we are hosting a party with all the kids, going to pub Christmas meet up just before Christmas etc. I love it!

Good for you ⭐ can't beat a bit of festive humble bragging......but just maybe some people are perfectly content with not giving a hairy rats arse about it all. That definitely includes me x

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 28/11/2025 00:49

About six, a mix of meals an and drinks dos. Nothing v wild.

Zero - I’m sure they’re a myth (other than office Christmas parties)…

Eh? They aren't a myth. People have drinks parties at Christmas, nothing unusual about that.

AllThisTime · 28/11/2025 01:06

My works meal and party
Partners work meal and party
Meal with my running group
Drinks with the people I volunteer with

DeftGoldHedgehog · 28/11/2025 03:19

Four dos/get togethers though only one is a party. Rest are dinner/pub.

Neurodiversitydoctor · 28/11/2025 03:21

Partly due to having 2 jobs
So work team meal
Big work party
Drinks with my imeadiate team
Amateur dramtic group meal
Drinks with yoga group

and a Wedding.
After Covid I vowed never to complain about too many.

HelpMeGetThrough · 28/11/2025 06:09

None.

I’ve not even acknowledged the work one, so that’s off the list. Anything else will get the same treatment.

garlictwist · 28/11/2025 06:15

None. I’m on holiday when it’s my work party and actually still on holiday on Christmas Day when I’ll be on a flight so not much celebrating for me.

Heyhelga · 28/11/2025 06:19

Works Christmas dinner & pub crawl

My netball team drinks

My son's football team parents drinks

Our extended family dog walk (yes seriously. We don't even have a dog but we've all been summoned to all go for a dog walk around a park all 30 odd of us).

firstofallimadelight · 28/11/2025 06:32

I have two meals planned with two groups of friends. No works do this year. We are also going to a daytime Xmas event oh and a family party Xmas eve.

muddyford · 28/11/2025 06:36

None. But I am going to a local abbey café with a friend for my birthday, just before Christmas.

Lulu1919 · 28/11/2025 06:40

Sounds fab - invite me!

I've got a lunch with my lovely work crew and nowt else other than family stuff.

LavenderBlue19 · 28/11/2025 06:46

Work Christmas dinner, which isn't a sparkly dress occasion at all - it's just lunch in a nice pub near the office.

I used to go to the work Christmas party, but budget cuts mean it's a bit lame now and much less fun. I don't know anyone who hosts a Christmas party, and never have.

MumChp · 28/11/2025 06:48

None. Work is +£50 so no.

Judeyoubigtwat · 28/11/2025 06:50

None.

I’ve never been invited to a party I didn’t host. Which stings as we have a few parties a year, everyone loves them and can’t wait to come, they ask when the next one will be, yet we get invited nowhere! I know people say don’t host people then, but if I didn’t, we’d do nothing and life would be dull.9

We are currently renovating our house so we won’t host our usual Christmas party this year.

Titasaducksarse · 28/11/2025 06:54

I've a work late lunch that I'm looking forward to. I'm going to a party for people with additional needs as I used to support some who are going. Finally a night out with about 7 friends for a festive cum birthday bash.

Who does the parties you read about or see on TV. Where you host and spend a ton on food and booze, outfits etc? Ive never been to one lol

BeaSure · 28/11/2025 06:55

Going away with my dad for NY (DH is working)

How lovely! DD and my DH go away for a weekend every year and I hope they always will. They love a bit of culture 😊
