How many "Christmas Parties" are you going to?

Just interested as every year the media goes big for "Christmas Party season" and I imagine everyone is going to a string of Christmas Parties every other night.

I'm going to three although none of them will be particularly wild!

I've a work late lunch that I'm looking forward to. I'm going to a party for people with additional needs as I used to support some who are going. Finally a night out with about 7 friends for a festive cum birthday bash.

Who does the parties you read about or see on TV. Where you host and spend a ton on food and booze, outfits etc? Ive never been to one lol

Me. I host them. Not the outfits for me though, I’m a scruffy bugger, but I might wear the leggings without holes in 😆

I’d love to be invited to one that I didn’t host though, never happened yet!

4, I struggle with noise (tinnitus and deaf in one ear) but I love seeing friends and family and getting dressed up (plus I do enjoy a cocktail or 3 😂). Always a mixed bag with the noise but I'm looking forward to it.

Three “do’s” - wouldn’t call them parties. One work one, running club drinks and uni friends dinner. With a family ice skating/ lunch and Christmas lights with a friend that’s enough for me.

I see all the sparkly clothes in the shops and I wonder who buys them all as I don’t have anywhere to wear them lol - but it’s prob the 20/30 somethings?

I'd love to be going to that many! I have a seven month old who is cramping my style a bit. I was hoping another school mum would suggest a night but I think next year I'll do it! I have a work do, nct drinks and a friend is having an actual party (but will probably have to bring my kids).

I was the same when mine were babies but now they’re school age we have lots more going on!

One party, at someone’s house in a couple of weeks’ time. Already socially anxious about it, and worrying because I don’t know if it will be shoes on or off and my outfit choices depend on that.

I don’t think it’s reasonable to throw a party and ask guests to take shoes off.

Mistymeg · 28/11/2025 10:44

Very civilised 3. One is an afternoon soirée, will dress up and they’ve gone to a lot of effort but it will be done and dusted by early evening. A lunch with work for 20 of us, one afternoon instead of work (how can anyone complain?!) and a mums local dinner closer to Christmas.

the part I detest about Christmas parties is the anxiety after, what did I say? Was I too tipsy? The lack of sleep and what alcohol does to my brain. I’m glad all these events are low key. I spent days agonising a couple years ago as I was a bit drunk and emotional!

RudolphTheReindeer · 28/11/2025 10:51

One. Which is one more than normal.

Calamiday · 28/11/2025 10:58

I am going to have my own party, just me, to celebrate not going to any effing Christmas parties!

MiddleAgedDread · 28/11/2025 11:06

None
Not going to the office Xmas party and that's my only party invite. I have a lunch gathering planned.

FullOfMomsense · 28/11/2025 11:22

3, one with the kids so not too glitzy, one with some girlfriends and the other is our annual work christmas party. We co-own and DH is CEO so we go all out.

We get invited to more but we have 5DC and after many years of boozy weekends we now prefer the bath, bottle, bed routine than the boozy bottle then bed routine.

HelloCharming · 28/11/2025 11:26

One works do, which will probably be fairly tame (work dos in the past have been racous and fun but we've all grown up), one do with ex colleagues that will be a really good catch up. Maybe an invitation to an in laws gathering if it's happening this year - where the food is excellent.

Used to go to a lot of parties in the industry we work with - but they have got smaller and give out less invitations than they used to.

Trying to sort out a Christmassy dinner with in laws as well - as I don't think I'm going to get a Christmas dinner other than the one I'm cooking this year. And I like a Christmas dinner out round about Christmas time...

Nourishinghandcream · 28/11/2025 11:29

None, nil, zero.......

How many would I like to be going to?
None, nil, zero!😃

ChristmasTimeChristmasJoy · 28/11/2025 11:30

None.

TheThingsYouDoForLurve · 28/11/2025 11:35

One work thing which is an afternoon event and then on to the pub for those who wish to.

I’ve declined 2 other events - one dinner with friends and one lunch with friends.

It’s been a really mixed year of good and awful and I’m exhausted. Plus I really dislike Christmas and can’t wait for it all to be over.

MagentaRocks · 28/11/2025 11:37

None. I have a night out with a friend a couple of weeks before but that is all. It is just the 2 of us going for food and drinks so not a party.

Natsku · 28/11/2025 11:38

I went to a Christmas party at my old workplace last weekend and we're trying to persuade someone to organise one in my new workplace but no other parties to go to. Maybe my brother will throw one and I'll go to that.

RoguesMum25 · 28/11/2025 11:52

None.
I'm a sahm so no work and not in any clubs or anything not that interested and not really any friends to do that with.
I'd rather celebrate with family and will do that on Christmas day.

ABeerInTheSunshineMakesMeHappy · 28/11/2025 11:55

No parties - I have pre-Christmas meet-ups with friends that will include drinks and a meal and we will be having a meal out on Christmas Day .

I tend to wear sparkly or Christmas themed to any event I go to in December - lunches out etc. Not full on party dress, but say a sparkly top and jeans, or sparkly jumper dress.

lolly427 · 28/11/2025 12:21

Zero and it sounds just perfect to me. There's nothing I dread more than a work meal out with added secret santa 'fun'.

Greenwriter76 · 28/11/2025 12:35

I always wonder whether retailers actually sell many of the sparkly Christmas party clothes they sell.
(I’ve bought them in the past for Christmas parties / meals but there seems to be a lot of people out there not doing any of that).
This year I’ve been to one ‘winter party’ (daytime, at a venue) & very few people dressed up (apart from us!) despite invite saying ‘Dress To Impress’. Many people in hoodies / jeans etc!
Other than that it’s a couple of casual togethers with friends / family.

DilemmaDelilah · 28/11/2025 22:52

None!

But we are going to Butlins for Christmas so there will be plenty of Christmas cheer. They really do do Christmas very well.

spiderlight · 28/11/2025 22:54

One very informal Solstice gathering.

Mikart · 29/11/2025 07:10

None! But we are out a lot in December...mainly afternoon drinking /eating and home by 7. I don't possess anything remotely sparkly or dressy uppy

MinnieMountain · 29/11/2025 07:19

Three. My boss is having a party at her house with spouses and DC invited, we’re doing a hotel party night with friends and we’ve got other friends coming over early evening with their DC.

I’ve got a sparkly M&S dress that I’ve not tried on yet. If that doesn’t suit, I’ll give up on the sparkles.
