How many "Christmas Parties" are you going to?

Just interested as every year the media goes big for "Christmas Party season" and I imagine everyone is going to a string of Christmas Parties every other night.

I'm going to three although none of them will be particularly wild!

None

I would have loved to go to Christmas parties where it was necessary to wear all these sparkly dresses and eat the party foods you see in M&S . But I have never ever been to one like that. Parties I have been to are with people I know and a big pot of curry or chili served.

2 big Christmas parties, same venue but 2 weeks apart - one with friends, one with work. I'll be wearing the same party frock and sparkly shoes for both. Also going to a concert and for food/ drinks with one group of friends and out for drinks with another.

One party, at someone’s house in a couple of weeks’ time. Already socially anxious about it, and worrying because I don’t know if it will be shoes on or off and my outfit choices depend on that.

I’ve always thought I was the only person who worried about the shoe thing! Glad I’m not alone! 😆

I'm including drinks parties and work dos in this btw

Edited

My ‘work do’ is an Indian meal and a couple of drinks in the pub. Does that count?

I’m going to zero ‘parties’ of any kind.

For a brief period in the early 2000s I had a job where I got invited to several parties / dos by clients and contacts every Christmas and I kind of hated it!

daffodilandtulip · 27/11/2025 22:37

Zero. Praise the lord!

ClawsandEffect · 27/11/2025 22:40

None and that's just the way I like it.

Nothing worse than a loud room filled with people doing boring small talk.

Strictlycomeparent · 27/11/2025 22:42

Probably three. But I don’t enjoy them!

CoralPombear · 27/11/2025 22:42

Bloody loads. School friends, work friends, ex work friends, family. I’m also working like a Trojan throughout the Christmas period including on the day itself. Need to summon up some stamina..

notatinydancer · 27/11/2025 22:43

0 so far and I’m very glad about it.

ResusciAnnie · 27/11/2025 22:44

0 planned so far! Have something on the 20th but it’s a birthday. Am self employed so no work party. 🤷‍♀️

user1476613140 · 27/11/2025 22:44

Zero. Couldn't think of anything worse.

elliejjtiny · 27/11/2025 22:45

None. Was invited to one but it clashes with ds's hospital appointment.

Bayroot1 · 27/11/2025 22:48

50 but I'm very popular and have a massive wonderful family 🌲🌲🌲🎅

Naaa just a couple. I've avoided work one as there's a few that get mortal and spoil it. I might have one at home for the lasses?

Clingfilm · 27/11/2025 22:49

None as I don't live in a Marks & Spencer/Matalan/Freemans advert #herecomethegirls 🤮
Don't even have a works Xmas meal this year.

MySilentLions · 27/11/2025 22:57

Wine bar night with DH friends
Wine Club night out - dinner and disco. This is the only one that will require a “sparkly dress”
Dinner out in posh restaurant x 2 with two different groups of my female friends
Afternoon tea with another group of hobby friends
Xmas type Lunch with very close friends

Im happy with this amount of socialising in the first 3 weeks of December.
Im self employed and work from home so no “work do “ but I do try hard to stay sociable and have human contact. I do enjoy meals in nice places now more than “big nights out”. Can’t cope with hangovers any more.

CeeJay81 · 27/11/2025 23:01

Only the works one and it's not exactly a party, more a meal and drinks. Only thing I do with friends outside work is go for a coffee and cake. I'm definitely not a social butterfly.

PaisleyGilmourStreet · 27/11/2025 23:31

One meal/panto date and one lunch/shopping date. That'll do me fine!

The only parties I've ever gone to at Christmas were party nights with colleagues, those nights were hotel venues with tables of different work places. They were okay, but I'd often use any excuse to call off.

I normally swerve the work ones but it’s been so long that I forgot how much I hate them and now I’m signed up for 2

@Soonenough I have never been to one either. We both need to raid M&S and organise one at home just for ourselves.

Berlinlover · 27/11/2025 23:59

Zero. I’m in remission from cancer so it was a good excuse to get out of attending the work Christmas party.

Wednesdaysotherchild · 28/11/2025 00:01

Zero - I’m sure they’re a myth (other than office Christmas parties)…
