Is it safe to leave the bunker yet?

I love a suit in Petrol Blue and breathe.

It's almost as if the haters hate getting vaccinated.

Saucery · 26/11/2025 16:49

It’s not too wild out there after a quick glance. A lot of concern about people in houses worth over £2 million - so lovely to see some sections of MN caring about others so deeply.
Pension tax is a bit…..meh and won’t help the shrieks of Politics Of Envy, but the rest is fairly benign.

It’s all the usual suspects praising Badenoch’s mean girl performance and lots of sanctimonious whinging about lifting the two child benefit cap. Nowhere near as bad as I was expecting it to be.

The Labours Not Working thread name dissed this thread claiming theres a hint of bitterness creeping in.

Not that I'm trying to start some sort of scrap with them obvs.

Staggered there are actually fans of Kemi Badenoch.

It's a hangover from the Johnson era when self proclaimed Boris fans defended the indefensible without question.

She's supposed to have £20bn headroom

Yes, but we know that can disappear quite quickly.

She needs to increase tax quickly before it can flee etc.

DuncinToffee · 26/11/2025 17:20

OBR is firmly laying the blame for falling productivity at Brexit.

How did JRM respond @SerendipityJane ?

Hello, we are all still here, then? I am in Scotland (on a little holiday, in a motability car😱) so was preparing to apply for asylum if the rest of the UK had gone up in smoke.

countrygirl99 · 26/11/2025 17:28

Been out to the yard. No pitchforks but there's probably only 1 house in the village that would hit £2m and I don't think any locals have even met the people who moved in a year ago.

All safe and sound. The sky hasn’t fallen in. 😊

The Labour Isn't Working thread is now forecasting some sort of catastrophe within the next 2 years.

But I thought the collapse would happen immediately? Some were predicting an IMF bailout before Christmas.🎄

Enjoy your holiday Pandora all safe & well appears the end of world has been postponed for a another while yet.
quite a few houses near me are two million plus so they may be out with pitchforks.

It’s like the millennium all over again.

I was stood on an ice rink up a French mountain waiting for the world to end.

Nope - it just kept spinning that may have been the alcohol 🤣🤷‍♀️

Although thanks to Brexit the youth of today won’t experience working ski seasons like I did.

And Reeves being sacked

And Starmer being ousted

And [insert labout catastrophe of choice]

Can we stop the running commentary on another thread, please? If anyone here wants to know what’s being said elsewhere we can read it for ourselves. I think MN call this sort of thing “not in the spirit”.

Been predicting the collapse since the 5th July 2024.

Must say I wholeheartedly agree with this @BIossomtoes

Plus have no interest whatsoever in what's being posted there

Badenoch was awful in Parliament today. Dire response.

I assume that there's loads of 'sad face' posts about not being able to afford a much wanted 3rd child, despite husband (always husband) earning a six figure annual salary.

The clip I saw cut it off at that point, for maximum effect - but it was very much a mic drop, really.

PickAChew · 26/11/2025 16:39

I shall be dishing out highly useful thoughts and prayers.

There’s a guy on my Twitter feed who was whinging about the £2million property surcharge this morning because of the price of the house he bought years ago falls much below £2million he’ll have lost all his equity. I’m going to go out on a limb and say he isn’t going to be happy and will need your thoughts and prayers.

BIWI · 26/11/2025 18:17

I’m trying to avoid the telly, but DH is watching the news.

Cue the inevitable and oh-so-predictable vox pops. I don’t want to hear the views of carefully chosen (i.e. self-selected) people - who mostly don’t understand the nuances of what’s been happening.

Cheap and lazy television.

TheOnlyMrsW · 26/11/2025 18:19

Enjoy your time away Pandora, we are on our way to sunny South Wales and hoping it's still there as it's a long way to go if not! My Daily Mail loving dad was predicting doom earlier, I quite like the bit earlier about Rachel Reeves' mum being a reader!!!
