Labour isn't working - Thread 20

TheNuthatch · 17/11/2025 11:40

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙* *

We are bracing for the budget. 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

With the best will in the world, the Tories if they get into government in the next GE, won’t be promising us sunlit uplands - but they won’t fuck up fiscally to this level. And they won’t set out to destroy small entrepreneurs for the sake of benefit claimants with ADHD and low self esteem. Or try to crush farmers. So that’s good.

Agreed - but they might have a 1 trillion pound black hole to contend with….

Go to site stuff where a 'newbie' is moaning to MNHQ about being bullied because she does not like what's being discussed.

LOL, that’s bananas.

Aw would be fun to revisit. I suspect we predicted much of this chaos.........🤔

We did, particularly Eastern. We need to rename her The Oracle 😁
We also predicted what the next budget would look like. Whodathunkit.

Haha I already have someone convinced I did this, knives out. I should have manifested a lottery win instead with that kind of power. We all should have 😝

Claimed on here to be new yet on there is now a long time poster??

They admitted they'd joined us to goad at the end of the first thread where they appeared as well. Maybe hoping we'd forget that snippet!

It's quite sweet that this thread obviously lives in their heads rent free.

InterestQ · 19/11/2025 21:12

How can someone be a long time MNer and not have seen the conversational threads and know not to butt in? The posters saying it’s like hearing people in the pub on another table talking then wading in are exactly right - but how can someone who has been on this forum for 48 hours + even Not Get That.

Especially since there are plenty of threads on political choices and decisions that you can go and debate on and engage with alllllll day long. So many! Why choose this one? Is it because we aren’t rude? I think it must be.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/11/2025 21:15

We have people dip in and out of our Christmas countdown thread throughout the year. We're only 'off' with people who post just to slag us off for counting down to Christmas all year!

Can't say that Christmas is less contentious on MN than politics though. Maybe a teeny bit...

Its amazing to me that some are shocked and offended by a group of women who don't like Labour. I think this is the most hated thread on MN. Its not like Labour are hugely popular irl. Just look at the polls.

(I'm assuming you're all women, apologies if not)

You what now?
Why do people have an issue with you talking about xmas? 🤯

I do lurk on your thread occasionally as you know, but I wouldn't dream of butting in as you describe.

Yep they feel really strongly about it, why? Maybe an mn Labour thing. Nearly the entirety of the public feel the same or even more so.

If they are seething and reading just remember none of this shifts the dial on Starmer and co. If it wasn’t on here their situation would be exactly the same.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 19/11/2025 21:22

I wouldn't dream of going on a gardening thread to post recommendations on how to kill of your rose bushes or that pruning is a waste of time because someone will take the secateurs to me, and rightly so.

You'd be more than welcome if you wanted to join in! Xmas Grin

And yes, MN is fucking weird about Christmas (and birthdays; and weddings; and any other happy occasion)!
