I need salt and pepper grinders which actually work

I’m fed up of grinders which stop grinding after a few months. Or where the bottom doesn’t stay on securely after re-filling. Or they block up easily, or are a bugger to re-fill in the first place. My latest purchase were an attractive pair of electric push button ones from Pro Cook (not cheap!) which I had high hopes for. One stopped working after 4 months.

can anyone recommend ones which actually work longer than a few months?

lol I’ve just realised how that sounds !
I can’t remember where I bought them in the end but whoever said look for metal grinders not plastic is right

We've given up on grinders and have 2 little olive wood pinch pot bowls - makes me feel like James Martin!

I'd second Peugeot. I have a couple of different ones (kitchen and dining table) and they are all fantastic. My kitchen ine allows me to change the grind level for pepper. My salt one, You can't use maldon salt though you need rock salt.

I’ll third Peugeot. Had mine for literally decades & it’s still brilliant.

Ceramic are better for salt, they don't corrode. Some sets have different grinders for salt and pepper.

@angela1952

I agree - I only use grinders for pepper.

OXO good grips. I picked mine up in Morrisons sale about 15 years ago, they are still working perfectly.
I like the fact the grinder is on the top so they don’t get salt and pepper everywhere. They are strong too, I’m incredibly clumsy. They’ve been dropped into the floor and into hot pans regularly and have survived.
