Happy to see all the Victoria Wood love on here!

Eyesopenwideawake · 13/11/2025 20:22

Ayrton Senna. I saw some footage of him during last weekend's Brazil GP and was shocked at my reaction.

Happyjoe · 13/11/2025 20:22

Bowie
Rik Mayal
Alan Rickman

People 'I grew up with' and thought be around forever.

Edited to add Terry Hall. Was so pleased to get to see the Specials in Manchester when they got back together. Amazing gig, every single person was singing, dancing and happy. What a vibe!

Heretone · 13/11/2025 20:22

Alexei Navalny. Political more than celebrity but I’m still sad about it.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 13/11/2025 20:22

Cheggers

SilenceInside · 13/11/2025 20:22

And I should have added the disappearance/death of Richey Edwards to my list as well.

Freddie ❤️

I still get goosebumps when I watch Queen play at Liveaid: the way Freddie owned the crowd is mesmerising

Cheggers

I remember my friend saying "Cheggers went pop" when he died. I shouldn't have laughed..

RuncibleSpoons · 13/11/2025 20:26

None. Some were a surprise, but ‘never got over’? I can’t imagine spending my whole
life not being able to get over a celebrity’s death.

stripedt · 13/11/2025 20:26

Alan Rickman

Kirsty MacColl - I cried when she died, for her children, and just because of the awfulness of it all.
Sean Lock - I knew his wife and remembered when they first got together. It just upset me so much.

Captain Holt too. Because I loved him. 😢💗💗💗

NooNakedJacuzziness · 13/11/2025 20:27

@Happyjoe- 🤭

SockHop · 13/11/2025 20:27

I felt particularly sad about Jeremy Hardy who I loved and also Terry Hall.

DarkEyedSailor · 13/11/2025 20:27

Sue Townsend.

SilenceInside · 13/11/2025 20:29

I think I took “never got over” to mean someone you still think about and think about their death, rather than literally unable to function as a result of their death.

BillyBites · 13/11/2025 20:29

The Queen
George Michael
Princess Diana

Dollymylove · 13/11/2025 20:31

In no particular order:
Freddie Mercury
George Michael
Errol Brown
Marc Bolan
Amy Winehouse
Whitney Houston
All massive talents and greatly missed x

Getoffofmyland · 13/11/2025 20:31

Victoria wood

Nighttimeistherightime · 13/11/2025 20:32

Rik Myall
Victoria Wood
George Michael
Caroline Aherne
Kirsty McColl

all absolutely geniuses in their own way. Gone far too soon. All good people who deserve to be here and making life better.

SpottyAardvark · 13/11/2025 20:32

I don’t grieve the deaths of people I never met. To do so seems at best to be disrespectful to their actual loved ones. And at worst to be cynical attention-seeking or empty insincere virtue-signalling.

That said, it’s always saddening to see people whose talents or work you admire taken before their time. Ayrton Senna & George Michael being obvious examples.
