A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

Bracing for the budget 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

"NEW: The Home Office plans to help deported foreign criminals and illegal migrants set up businesses in their home country, receive training, and access mental health support."

No wonder they need the money from all those kites. Hostile environment you say? Perhaps they need another read of the Danish model?

Excellent deterrent there. Well done Labour 👏

I hear they are considering giving asylum seekers £100 per week to leave hotels from next year too. Its supposed to encourage them to stay with family and friends in the UK.

‘The Germany-wide statistics on sexual violence were also sobering. An internal study by the German federal law enforcement agency, leaked to a Zurich newspaper, revealed that asylum-seekers have committed some 7,000 sexual assaults (ranging from groping to gang-rape ) between 2015 and 2023.

Although they make up only 2.5 per cent of the population, asylum-seekers made up 13.1 per cent of all sexual-assault suspects in 2021.

In 2023, there were 761 gang-rapes registered in Germany — almost two per day; 47.5 per cent of the suspects were foreigners.

The frequency of such crimes — which were rare in Germany as late as the 1990s — has hovered between 600 and 800 per year for the past 7 years. The statistics go on for page after mind-numbing (or mind-boggling) page. Berlin’s police chief delivered the upshot: “Bluntly stated, our numbers show that violence in Berlin is young, male, and has a non-German background.”

What is straining German law enforcement (and society) is the sheer number of young male asylum-seekers. Germany famously relaxed its border controls in 2015-2016, permitting an influx of some 1.3 million people from countries such as Syria, Afghanistan, Iran, and Turkey. Then as now, about 70 per cent of asylum-seekers were male and most are under 35 years old’

Yep. Awful.
I was reading about the Netherlands too and the 'red bag for Lisa'. Its shocking.

Germany is in a real mess. Like here, only worse. Thanks Angela, they say.

Where isn't a mess?

France is arguably worse than here or Germany.

Switzerland is popular, but has high immigration (though mostly well-educated and well-integrated) and employment isn’t looking great.

Canada and Aus think women can have a penis. NZ is all flavours of virtue-signalling, and not great for jobs.

There must be somewhere...

Donning the very hardest of hard hats but... the UAE. Safe, no tax, international in the best way, very sunny weather (okay summer is from hell but there's aircon).

Even Saudi is becoming remarkably sane, they had full-on state-organised Halloween parties this year.

That's absolutely awful.

We let our floodgates open about 5 years after Germany did...

I dont watch terrestrial tv at all now. I might stream the occasional thing (mostly Grand Designs!) but that's it. Our tv isn’t even set up for live terrestrial broadcasting.

Same -don’t have the aerial plugged in and never watch BBC. They tried bullying me with endless letters that I simply ignored.

I’d never live in the Middle East. Too many social issues.

But I can understand those who choose to, at least in the more liberal Arab states.

I have family there. They love it.
I would never go back to Saudi though as a woman.

I'm looking forward to them badgering me...I think it's disgusting they're allowed to.

Reeves has confirmed today she will be lifting the 2 child benefit cap

Surely it would make sense to increase benefits once the budget is under control.

Wonder how its going to be paid for …..

Germany is in a real mess. Like here, only worse. Thanks Angela, they say.

Friends who lived in Cologne have moved to a town the border with Poland. It was getting too dangerous to have 4 teenage daughters especially after the kettling incident at the rail station. They couldn't go ot unaccompanied. It was so bad at one point, the dads started their own taxi and chaperone rota, taking it in turns. There are a number of Germans now moving to Eastern Eurpean countries where they refuse these migrants.
As you so eloquently said Rex; Thanks Angela.
