A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I was at the Lewes Bonfire Night last year. Thought you would all like the effigies of Starmer.

I was a bit surprised Rachel Reeves wasn’t there but it takes ages to make a good effigy.

These are great, thanks for the reporting with pics, love that

BBC has ruled against Martine Croxall after she said pregnant women rather then pregnant people as per her autocue. Absolutely batshit.

But now the BBC’s Executive Complaints Unit has ruled against the presenter, upholding concerns from audience members, who claimed that Croxall “expressed a controversial view about trans people” and made a facial expression of “disgust, ridicule, contempt or exasperation.”

BBC Rebukes Presenter Martine Croxall After Viewers Complained About Her Facial Expression When She Corrected “Pregnant People” To “Women”

The BBC has censured news presenter Martine Croxall after she went viral for changing her autocue from “pregnant people” to “women.”

‘The ruling continued: “The ECU considered the facial expression which accompanied the change of ‘people’ to ‘women’ laid it open to the interpretation that it indicated a particular viewpoint….’

So. We’re being policed on our facial expressions now? What. The. Fck. The BBC is a totally captured organisation. Vomit. Stop the train I want to get off.

@NoWordForFluffy Would you allow your DS to select a subject at A-level that requires speaking? My DS refuses to speak to teachers and already I don’t feel A-levels will be the right path for him. As parents we need to aspire for our children but guide them to their strengths. I accommodate my KS3 and 4 students for their anxiety but if you actively choose to study a subject that requires speaking, I expect speaking.

Lammy has been out digging an even bigger hole for himself. He is a walking disaster.

He's now saying the accidental release took place before made the changes following Kebatu's release. Not true, he told the House changes were made and effective immediately on the 27th, this was confirmed by the MoJ, prisoners released on the 29th - 2 days later.

He's also decided that he wasn't informed of the accidental release until Wednesday morning now, despite his aides saying they had worked through the night on this issue, on Tuesday.

He now says, he wasn't shopping for a suit before PMQs on Wednesday morning, (the wearing of a just purchased suit was his excuse for the missing poppy, then being given the wrong poppy attached to the wrong lapel by Bridget Phillipson during PMQs), he bought the suit on Monday.

Lammy defends failing to reveal another prisoner had been mistakenly released

The justice secretary has raised more questions after trying to clarify what he knew about the mistaken release of an Algerian registered sex offender.

It’s good we’ve got such a united party in power with such aligned priorities!

How exactly does Lucy Powell think the budget can be balanced?

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 06/11/2025 17:42

Starmer has to be firm, if the backbenchers don't like it then there's always the IMF bailout as an option.

Will they like it?

Why does he let them hold the whole country for ransom? Starmer and Reeves relented once and didn't cut the welfare budget and here we are. Round two.

Rivalled · 06/11/2025 17:47

I’m sure she thinks, like the discworld tortoise, that the top 1/3 can just pay all of it.

She also wants the 2 child benefit cap scrapped in full.

This is utter madness.

I don't know. He's only Y7, so we've a while to go.

However, if a pupil is selectively mute, I'd expect all staff to have training in this and reasonable adjustments to be put in place.

Starmer would do well to stand up to his backbenchers, who do they think they are? Isn’t the idea that as an MP you rally round and support your leader rather than try and cause trouble? Many of them have tiny majorities, think they have ideas above their station.
Yes perhaps they would prefer the IMF. Hope they all get their comeuppance.

I thought that within the Tories, Philip Grayling got criticised for being too much of an accountant.

I was puzzled at the time, because someone who is detailed in accounting is the person I want in charge of the economy ...seems like a really odd criticism, is it just me?

Bloody ridiculous. The BBC are so enmeshed with gender ideology that they are failing to connect with reality, let alone their license fee paying audience.

I'm sorry I don't know who Philip Grayling is? Unless you mean Chris Grayling?

I agree with your point about someone detailed in accounting, but I do think chancellors need to also be politically astute with a good understanding of business. This is Reeves's downfall imo.
