I know in my training many years ago that black people were diagnosed with schizophrenia at a much higher rate. At that time it was proposed that it was cultural or cannabis related but also displacement from country of origin (Windrush generation), poverty and poor social conditions.

This day has been a shocking new low for Mumsnet. Two other threads filled with hate for boat people, asylum seekers, Muslims, immigrants in general, then moving on to people who were born here but are not "British" enough.

I don't really know how the people making these comments can live with themselves.

It's well established that immigrants, taken as a whole, commit less crime (including murder, rape and other serious offences) per capita than 'native' Brits.

Odd that people like you are only interested in those crimes when they're committed by people from certain religions and cultures.

I am thanking Fuck I and my son are white as we are less likely to be arrested or detained for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Plus I have been reading some vile posts by people on here today that make me feel for anyone not white in this country at the moment.

The thing is when you rush to do this to every single event, it discredits your concerns massively.

We don't know what the assailant's motive was or whether they are mentally unstable.It's such a concern that so many people feel the need to carry knives though , my friend had the police at her door because her 11 year old grandson was caught with a knife in his school bag, it's so concerning . Is it the internet, gangs ?

Before we leap to conclusions, it's also entirely possible that eg; the released man was travelling with the perpetrator but had no idea what was going to happen, or that he'd simply fallen into conversation with him early in the journey & was therefore assumed by fellow travellers to be his companion. Lots of things are possible, right now we don't know & shouldn't feel confident in drawing dramatic inferences.

I feel really sorry for the man wrongly arrested. Yesterday eyewitnesses were describing a black man dressed in black and black is unfortunately a popular colour to wear. I hope that he has been offered an apology and that his identity is never leaked.

The County Lines theory person is nuts. Being a black man doesn’t mean he’s a criminal or involved in criminal activity ffs. He was wrong place at the wrong time and unfortunately wrongly arrested. Why don’t you believe that the police made a mistake because he matched the description of black man dressed in black?

Yes the poor man. I do hope he’s okay and getting the appropriate support, it must just be awful to witness something like that and then be racially profiled.

The British transport police, police, ambulance, train company seem to have managed this awful situation impeccably. It is NOT racist to arrest someone who fits the description of the attacker.

Come on, he was not arrested for being black. He was likely arrested because he was matching the description. The police however should have realised their mistake much sooner. I'm very glad his name had not been released

The Government, media, and general establishment are extremely effective at getting their masses dismiss all sense and logic.

No sane, lucid, person wakes up one day and decides to stab strangers on a train. Police already acknowledged the attack on train passengers was not terrorism.

So logically one can deduce the attacker does not have all their mental faculties. So why won't the Gov/ media acknowledge this? Because it represents the failure of our mental institutions, and by extension, failure of Gov.

Moreover, when a significant proportion of the population is convinced the issue is attributed the attacker's ethnicity (not their mental deficiencies), Gov want to be seen as working towards a solution. Even if problem is imaginary.
