Reeves should do this

As anti-Labour media will always put words in her mouth, why not beat them to it:

"Yes it's true, Daily Mail readers, we are coming for you and your money because a) everyone else had to pay under the Tories b) Brexit screwed the poor c) you voted for both. Cheers, Rachel."

Rightly or wrongly, I am not convinced the electorate will be content to permit Reeves’s continued attempts to blame the Tories.

When people get hit in the wallets, they will lay the blame with the incumbents.

Hearing the Ryan Air owner whinge about wealth tax Hmm

Poor thing, shall we have a whip round?

I hope Reeves introduces a wealth tax on assets, even if a one off.

& do something on energy market, a key promise they made was to lower bills & not cutting VAT, that just rewards higher energy uses, who tend to be the better off.

dontcallmelen · 04/11/2025 09:27

Strong coffee possibly a biscuit don’t usually eat until lunchtime, wish I felt like eating breakfast as probably healthier.
seems a lot of really wealthy people don’t like the idea, yy Duncin so wish she would say that, tis a shame they never said no raises in the first two years I suppose it will give the media even more reasons to become totally hysterical & how the country will totally spontaneously combust.

I’ve walked 6k and 8k steps already.

Not long home from ds swim training and off to work in 10 minutes.

I had an Aldi protein shake at 6am for breakfast after my walk!

Probably have a banana mid morning and another shake for lunch and a quick walk.

Also have a flask of coffee - a Aldi own caramel latte one. My only caffeinated coffee of the day so savour it 🤣

Kudos to you

I hoped for a good example but did get this comment from Google AI. It's such a fucking numpty 🙄

A "Yorkshire pudding bra" is not a real or standard item. The term seems to be a playful or a hypothetical concept, possibly linked to jokes or novelty ideas rather than a functional product

Edited

If you add "-ai" to your search terms it suppresses the Gemini shit.

What's the betting that would never get printed in the Mail ?

Forget Will Smith GIF

You have to admire the Tories rendition of Shaggy

Goes without saying. I just wish they hadn’t made those foolish promises and they’d reversed Hunt’s unfunded NI cut immediately. No wonder the Tories spent the entire election campaign predicting tax cuts, they knew they were inevitable, not least because of the bear traps they’d set.

Notonthestairs · 04/11/2025 09:40

Austerity
BREXIT
Covid.

2 of those were Tory/Reform choices.

dontcallmelen · 04/11/2025 09:43

Agree Blossom so bloody stupid not reversing the NI cut, that was such a calculated move by Hunt another example of putting party before country.

Nolletimiere · 04/11/2025 09:43

Personally, I think Reeves is being disingenuous again.

Why? Her ‘laser focus’ is solely on yields. She knows that if she can manage the bond markets, she will have the required fiscal headroom. To do
so, she needs to implement significant tax rises.

The snag is, she barely mentioned the welfare budget - she knows she will not be able to get that past the unions and back benches.

The electorate will not be so forgiving.

I has my usual 3 Shredded Wheat (other cereals are avaiable) skimmed milk and blueberries. Plus two cups of Earl Grey.
Cat mugged me before I had finished as usual.

So it's had it's chance and we can reverse it then.

Good point bit posters. It's almost as if you are none to bright.

I’m going to guess people who complained about Project Fear and voted for Brexit and then Boris Johnson’s oven ready plan.

Disingenuous or stupid. It’s not ten years, it’s five years since we left the EU on an absolutely appalling deal. It’s obvious to anyone with half a brain that it would take time for the economic effects to filter through.

It's immaterial really. The real point is Brexit is done. We've had it. There is no more to do. Hence the redundancy of the "EU referendum" board round are way.

Yes, there are occasional people ringing into radio chat shows insisting we must "leave Europe" ... however as a comment on reddit suggested, they only have stupid people on call ins, which is why Brexit was such a great theme.

Well, thats a surprise!

We've the highest yields in almost all of the developed world, we have never recovered from Truss, coupled with Brexit, its costing us a fortune, even France with a much higher nat debt, is 1% lower, Germany 2% less, even Italy is over 1% lower.

How exactly would you cut Welfare spend?

Do a Reform and remove PIP for MH issues? Give the disabled a £ wheeler?

PandoraSocks · 04/11/2025 10:07

Sorry but that’s not correct.

UK yields have been elevated predominantly owing to the risk premium attached to its debt.

At the same time DB pension funds have been reducing their exposure to longer dated maturities, for obvious reasons.

dontcallmelen · 04/11/2025 10:19

Truss barely gets mentioned now she is like Bobby in the shower, was all a bad dream same with all the billions wasted with track & trace/contracts/nightingale hospitals/Rwanda I’d be all day listing sheer amounts of money they spaffed.

That’s an idea I like very much.
