I don't follow anyone like that on X as they're all blocked. Wouldn't give them the time of day.

Neither do I but I follow accounts that highlight the blatant racism.

How do Habib and Braverman post such awful stuff while not being white British themselves? How do they marry hating anyone with migrant ancestors and yet ignore the fact that they must have had migrant ancestors? If one is wrong how is the other ok? Same goes for Badenoch, Patel et al.

I should add that this is not me saying people with migrant ancestors shouldn't be here. Just trying to understand why it's ok for them and not for others.

Well Badenoch pretty much said that she believes some races to be better than others.

Grimes is a repugnant rancid twatwaffle and I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire. Of course, when people exercise their own free speech to complain to the council about this sort of shit he posts, he whines about being victimised. As is the case with so many nasty men, he's a fucking crybaby when anyone has the nerve to disagree with him.

Zonder · 02/11/2025 16:18

Madness.

SerendipityJane · 02/11/2025 16:26

Zonder · 02/11/2025 15:58

That's sick. We have really gone so far backwards.

We shall not cease from exploration
and the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.

SerendipityJane · 02/11/2025 16:32

Zonder · 02/11/2025 16:08

Possibly yes. But the norm kept it down low. Now the norm is racist too and anything goes.

Totally agree about Brexit @Alexandra2001

At 6th form, the A level* drama students had to do an ensemble piece.

They chose to tackle the problems of racism and integration (this was the early 80s - I helped with the electronics for the lights).

They ended with a musical number that went (to the tune of "anything goes"**)

In olden days we called them darkies,
now we invite them to all of our parties so ..............
ANYTHING GOES

I wonder if this post will be pulled ? Or indeed seen by the original cast ?

(This could be a very outing post 😎)

*Ask your grandparents.

As I said, Reform are just another political party. Nothing more.

Supplysupport · 02/11/2025 16:57

On a slight tangent, I wonder what a Venn diagram would look like between those that support reform and the far right who bleat on about how our traditions are being removed by immigrants, and those who put their Christmas trees up now and remove them during advent? Grin
The attacks on the train are fucking awful and should be condemned by all. Those looking to use them for political point scoring have no place in politics.

ThatbloodyRoblox · 02/11/2025 16:59

Thanks for the new thread @DuncinToffee
i haven’t posted for a while but keeping up.
like @BIossomtoes I am fairly close to the train incident.
Absolutely an awful incident. I wasn’t surprised to see the patriots on our local FB pages were almost desperately willing this to be a terror attack and duly spout their racist nonsense. No thanks to the emergency services.
No thanks to the rail staff/ train staff
No thinking of the victims
But
Starmers fault he needs to resign
or
bomb the boats type posts.
I know we don’t generally get news from the Republic of Ireland here but I honestly think the lack of news of this kind of attack should have been bigger, after all that could be anywhere.

placemats · 02/11/2025 17:01

Much praise to the driver, the control room and the station staff for the rapid response and unscheduled stop at Huntington. I'm totally in awe of the quick thinking. Makes me feel very safe.

Yes agree with both posts.

Evenstar · 02/11/2025 17:11

@placemats absolutely, I believe there could have been many more people injured and fatalities if it wasn’t for the actions of the train company staff, control room and members of the public. The fast response by emergency services at the station and the proximity to Addenbrookes undoubtedly saved lives too.

I hope very much that psychological help will be available for the passengers on the train, including those who were uninjured and put on buses to London, the horror that unfolded before them is unimaginable.

I am surprised how quickly terrorism has been ruled out, it is of no reassurance to the travelling public to fear that something like this could happen for no discernible reason 😔

SerendipityJane · 02/11/2025 17:17

I am surprised how quickly terrorism has been ruled out,

I would like to know what definition of the word they are using, before agreeing with their assessment.

After all, if a little old lady holding a sign up is a "terrorist" then who knows ?

Saucery · 02/11/2025 17:25

The Southport murderer’s actions prior to the incident weren’t defined as meeting the threshold for terrorism either. Prevent thresholds etc seem very tightly defined.
I hope every injured person caught up in this survives, thus cheating the perpetrators of one of their intended outcomes.
Agree that there seems to have been calm and meaningful action by the driver and everyone else dealing with this. And that everyone involved gets the psychological help and support they will need.

Saucery · 02/11/2025 17:29

I couldn’t quite believe some of the comments on other threads today. A boldness for racism bar is effortlessly hurdled by an increasing number of posters on here nearly every day. What a horrible place to live much of the UK has become.

I think most people are decent in real life. If we all pull together we can defeat the racists ❤️

SerendipityJane · 02/11/2025 17:38

Generally terrorism - or "terrorism" - gets defined in terms that mean the people defining it are not guilty of it. Which makes it a bit of an irregular noun.

My personal definition is that has to be connected to a political process which can end it. (Stewart Lee did it very succinctly in an early "comedy vehicle"); So (for example) the (provisional) IRA were eventually made redundant by the political peace process.

If there's no path to peace politically then it's just about the power and the violence.

Obviously if the incumbent powers deem the political demands unacceptable you end up in a permawar. And then - as with everything else - you need to ask cui bono ?

bombastix · 02/11/2025 17:40

I think there is probably a high chance the knife man is seriously mentally ill. These incidents do happen rarely with schizophrenic people who do not have adequate supervision or other psychotic issues and they are staying with their family. We have only just got past Valdo Colacane who killed three people, and he was not taking his medication, and nor was the man in the park when he was detained. This is such a hideous event. There will be a lot of questions as to this offender’s mental state.

with two people being held on suspicion, the lone wolf theory seems weak.

As always it's best to wait for more information ... says someone who lives and breathes log files ...

PandoraSocks · 02/11/2025 17:53

One of the men arrested has just been released.

Eta: I am sure this is what they just said on the radio, but can't find it anywhere. So pinch of salt at the moment.

As i understand it, based on rumour, only one of the men had a knife.

Hats to the authorities in getting the train to Huntingdon, some cool heads there, the driver too acted brilliantly as well.... perhaps putting to bed the "Train drivers don't deserve £55k pa"

Though i doubt it.

It seems a lot of moving parts swung in to play very quickly. But you aren't allowed to say that now.

I am in permanent awe of all our emergency services. They keep me humble.
