How do Habib and Braverman post such awful stuff while not being white British themselves? How do they marry hating anyone with migrant ancestors and yet ignore the fact that they must have had migrant ancestors? If one is wrong how is the other ok? Same goes for Badenoch, Patel et al.

I should add that this is not me saying people with migrant ancestors shouldn't be here. Just trying to understand why it's ok for them and not for others.

A lot of crimes - or "crimes" - are not a risk to public safety.

I'm annoyed with myself for not being able to quote the exact statistic, but in TRIH on Windrush, Trever Phillips ended with a note that the UK is unique in the world in it's demographics of people who would identify as mixed race (I detest most language around the fiction of race, but that's another thread).

The salient point being it completely redefines what it is to be born in Britain. Although that in itself isn't perhaps unique in British history.

Public safety is a wide ranging concept that includes fraud, child sexual abuse images and distribution; isolated domestic violence that includes the death of children; romantic scammers; work place safety contraventions; tax evasion and I'm sure much more.

Thanks @SerendipityJane I'll dip into that. I would be interested in the stats. Like how does it compare to France where there are loads of "mixed race" people.

It's not just the number, it's the range/spread.

I think the best way to underscore it would be to ask (are there stats ?) how many UK citizens in the UK today can claim 8 British-born great grandparents plus 4 British born grandparents plus 2 British born parents. A majority ? Or a minority ?

Not me. My dad was the great grandson of eight Irish immigrants. My DNA is 59% Irish. Maybe I should be deported?

Things are livened up when you recall that prior to the 1960s, anywhere in the British Empire was "British".

So my grandfather being born in Darjeeling was as "British" as the Indian born nanny who bought him up.

Is that updates because people reacted to you posts or quoted you? You can change that in notifications in settings but it will apply to all threads.

There is an agenda being pushed on X by Goodwin and others that black people aren't British and that is repeated on MN.

You need to hide it to stop getting notifications.

For some reason I am reminded of a very senior boss (a director) who pulled up a colleague in a meeting where ISO27001 progress was requested.
