Oh, it will be twisted round to “look at the fabulous job they do and this evil government want to take it all away again in tax.”

I think there is probably a high chance the knife man is seriously mentally ill. These incidents do happen rarely with schizophrenic people who do not have adequate supervision or other psychotic issues and they are staying with their family. We have only just got past Valdo Colacane who killed three people, and he was not taking his medication, and nor was the man in the park when he was detained. This is such a hideous event. There will be a lot of questions as to this offender’s mental state.

The 35 yr old man has been released without charge - so only one attacker now which very much supports your theory

BBC

We've just received an update from British Transport Police.

They say a 32-year-old man arrested yesterday is now being treated "as the only suspect".

"A 35-year-old man from London who was also arrested at the scene has been released with no further action," the update reads.
"It was reported in good faith to officers responding to the incident that he was involved in the attack, and following enquiries we can confirm that he was not involved."

A LNER staff member is in critical condition still, their actions are reported to have saved many lives.

You’ve got to feel sorry for someone caught up in that horrific situation and having the trauma compounded by spending nearly 24 hours in custody. What nightmare.

I hate how people with responsibility for peoples lives are so low paid in the UK.

I don't know. 24 hours without having to listen to Farage and the reformistas seems quite a treat these days.

Some of the MN variety might be name-changing after the disgusting shite they have posted today.

No, I think we have some out and out racists on MN. The type that suggest Sunak could not be an Englishman.

There are a few account names which I suspect were set up during the riots and are used intermittently to spread racism and disinformation.

Exactly. He’d never escape it, would he? I expect a lot of posters will be having a plateful of their words for supper tonight.

Piggywaspushed · 02/11/2025 18:32

One poster in particular was absolutely baying for the names. So she could analyse them for Muslim content, I assume.

Evenstar · 02/11/2025 18:38

I saw someone on the local newspaper Facebook page when there was an article you had to click on to see that the attacker shouted two words (“Kill me”) to the police saying what was that and suggesting a well known phrase used by Islamic terrorists (or the closest they could get to spelling it)

I saw another “intellectual” claiming that someone of Jamaican “dissent” couldn’t be British 🙄

Good. Let’s hope the police can now focus their enquiries where it matters.

This country has problems. One is racism and the other in this incident is likely to be serious mental health issues. I expect that there will be a lot of work done this weekend to establish that issue.

MN’s threads on this matter have often been a racist cesspit. I suppose at least I know who they are.

One poster on the other threads, in particular surprised me, we ve clashed many times and now i don't ever respond to her but i've always thought her beliefs were based on the economy, and party loyalty.
Today i found out that she sets the standard for sinking into the depths of racism.

I know which one you mean. I was shocked by that too. As Pandora says, a few masks have slipped in the last 24 hours.

Much praise to the driver, the control room and the station staff for the rapid response and unscheduled stop at Huntington. I'm totally in awe of the quick thinking. Makes me feel very safe.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 This. Well done to those whose quick thinking saved lives.

The same happened on the Brexit threads a few years ago.

People tried making "reasonable" arguments in favour of Brexit, but when their "arguments" were destroyed, as they inevitably were, it turned out to be purely xenophobia...

Yes, we should take some positives from the fact that there are some bloody brave people out there, who put themselves in danger to protect others.

Edited

Only one person remains in a life-threatening condition the LNER staff member - hopefully he won't pay for his immense bravery with his health or worse still his life

Piggywaspushed · 02/11/2025 19:28

He's a guard. You know, the job half of MN was claiming doesn't exist any more for most of today (which was almost certainly Keir's fault).

Yes, the role rail unions went on strike to protect. Much to the fury of the Tories.
