A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

@Nolletimiere my sons father is very clued up and he believes expropriating will happen. We had 6 rentals between us we have changed them to air band b and are selling off I despise this government so much

Nolletimiere · 27/10/2025 21:14

To all of you going through tough times at the moment, I send you my heartfelt wishes - thanks to @TheNuthatch and her threads, we all have a place to vent, and to listen.

I am thankful for that, and for your enduring companionship during these strange times.

Sleep well all!

Yes and sometimes I read other posts on mn and am so relieved not to be around it all the time on here.

Parsley4321 · 27/10/2025 21:27

@TheNuthatch a medal or a magnum of champagne 🍾 here’s to you all this too will pass. I have made a big decision I am downsizing and taking it easier it’s going to take a bit of time but I’ve put one house on the market this week second in spring and moving horsie to a cheaper yard better hacking. I am going to cut my cloth tighter and enjoy my smaller life more. I will keep you all the the loop

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 27/10/2025 21:28

I can remember bad governments, and inept governments, and plenty of obnoxious politicians, of all parties, but of course mainly the Tories and Labour. Because they’ve been the parties of power for so many decades.

But I cannot recall any government as atrociously useless, talentless, spiteful, dishonest and hypocritical as this one. And we have another three-and-half years of this shower. It’s so depressing.

Come back Boris, all is forgiven!

Lutonsgirl · 27/10/2025 21:31

I would like to echo others and send 💐💜to those who need it. It is always darkest just before the dawn so hold on.

At what what level do taxes become expropriation?

You won't regret it. The time, mental strain and money saved looking after a smaller estate has it's merits. I have been moving towards a smaller lifestyle as I've got older. I officially retire on wednesday and I'm in the process of moving to an apartment. I've downsized a couple of times. Hopefully this is the last.
So good luck to you and Horsie.

EmpressoftheMundane · 27/10/2025 21:34

Yes, three cheers for @TheNuthatch for creating this thread and keeping it going. It’s lovely to share thoughts with you all.

TheNuthatch · 27/10/2025 21:43

Thank you all, very kind <blushes> 😊. I'm so pleased to see how much our little gang has grown in a just a few months. Keep going 💪.

You really do keep me sane, and my long suffering dh is very grateful that I have somewhere else to vent about Starmer & Co 😂

@Parsley4321 I'm really pleased for you 😁. It will be a weight off with less to worry about. Honestly, I can't wait to downsize when all the dc have flown the nest. I'd be happy roaming in a camper van if I didn't have kids.
I'm over the moon that you've decided to keep your horse. That's really warmed my heart ❤️.

You just made me laugh about the long suffering husband. The other day I went downstairs for breakfast and sat down next to my husband. He likes the morning to be quiet so he can get his head together. I was really on one about something I'd read in the news and I started ranting. He just looked at me while I ranted for about 10 minutes and said nothing. Then when I'd finished he just said "go away". You had to be there really to see the funny side. I don't think he likes me ranting about politics! 🤣

Dh doesn’t dislike Starmer as much as me but we have a laugh about them at times, he can put on the voice pretty well with that terrible sound which cheers me up as it’s funny

GaIadriel · 27/10/2025 21:50

Labour aren't the only ones 'not working' it would seem!

He does Starmer impressions? Thats brilliant Eastern 😂😂

EmeraldRoulette · 27/10/2025 21:56

@Nolletimiere thanks. That's okay I just looked it up myself. I honestly hadn't realised it was that bad.

Apart from anything else, on what planet do people not realise that when they complain there's no medical specialist for them to see, it might just be because the medical specialist decided the cliff edge wasn't worth it and either left the country or decided to reduce their hours!

That's before I go near the business aspect. (I'm just thinking of that one because Some of the thingsI've heard IRL about lack of specialists have been really bizarre. Also, the fact that people seem to think we can grow them on trees).

@Catatemyhomework I can totally picture that 😂

@justasking111 best wishes for your surgery

Also, hugs if anyone needs them. I I don't say unMNy because I don't feel the need to apologise for offering hugs. No one has to take me up on it 😂

Catatemyhomework · 27/10/2025 21:57

Yes, I think my husband and I have similar views, but he does like peaceful, uninterrupted mornings! He says he doesn't understand why I rant as it just stresses me out. So this thread gives me another outlet and enables him to keep his quiet mornings! Whenever we go out, he always says to whoever we're with, "oh god, don't mention politics!" 🤣

He’s not actually good at impressions but for some reason he can do the Starmer one really well. It always makes me laugh 😂

Whenever I’m annoyed at something he’ll do a line, it cracks me up
