A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Our manifesto is fully costed and fully funded and requires no further tax increases.”

They don’t have a mandate for any of this - Labour are fucking liars and cheats.

I apologise for the profanity.

Yep, they certainly are.

Absolutely.

What these utter imbeciles fail to comprehend is that the problem is spending, not tax receipts - which are at an historic high.

Actually, Reeves probably did know she was snookered when the welfare bill collapsed, and realised that the consequence would be a further tax raid, despite her promises last October.

Hence the waterworks.

Absolutely that’s why she cried.

I can’t stand the gaslighting over it. The reason she’s raising taxes again is because their last budget was a mess and huge mistake.

I hope they are eviscerated even further due to this.

With you.

Farage needs to speak up and out - now is the time.

Even if Reform represent a potential protest government for a number of us.

Anyone, but Labour.

I'm reminded of this story with the labour budgets. Reeves is the north wind, we the travellers.

The North Wind and the Sun had a quarrel about which of them was the stronger. While they were disputing with much heat and bluster, a Traveler passed along the road wrapped in a cloak.

"Let us agree," said the Sun, "that he is the stronger who can strip that Traveler of his cloak."

"Very well," growled the North Wind, and at once sent a cold, howling blast against the Traveler.

With the first gust of wind the ends of the cloak whipped about the Traveler's body. But he immediately wrapped it closely around him, and the harder the Wind blew, the tighter he held it to him. The North Wind tore angrily at the cloak, but all his efforts were in vain.

Then the Sun began to shine. At first his beams were gentle, and in the pleasant warmth after the bitter cold of the North Wind, the Traveler unfastened his cloak and let it hang loosely from his shoulders. The Sun's rays grew warmer and warmer. The man took off his cap and mopped his brow. At last he became so heated that he pulled off his cloak, and, to escape the blazing sunshine, threw himself down in the welcome shade of a tree by the roadside.

Gentleness and kind persuasion win where force and bluster fail.

Aye, it's all fun and games until we are compelled to sit in a pity circle and manifest growth for the country. That and bigger boobs.

Another Rayner/Mandy moment would come in useful around mid November.

Hopefully the DT/others is sitting on a story, just waiting for the opportune moment.

I love when someone posts the polls.

Am I the only one who quickly adds up all the left and all the right votes to see if there is any left/right shift?

Nolletimiere · 16/10/2025 16:45

Probably so they can quietly nod it through during Xmas….

A decision on whether to approve China's application for a new super-embassy in London has been delayed again by the government.
Housing Secretary Steve Reed had been due to rule on the application by 21 October, but the deadline has been pushed back to 10 December.
It is the second time the government has delayed a decision on the controversial site, whose location has sparked concerns it could pose an espionage risk.
A ruling had originally been due by 9 September after ministers took control of the process from Tower Hamlets, the local council, last year.

Nolletimiere · 16/10/2025 16:48

Sorry, one more - coming to English cities, soon…

Motorists who drive sports utility vehicles (SUVs) or other large vehicles are set to be charged more to park in Cardiff, after changes to parking permits were approved by the council's cabinet.
The city is set to be split into three new zones with resident permits in the city centre scrapped and students entitled to fewer permits.

Returning to thread topic now.
