Pull up a chair for some friendly chit chat about politics, cats, dogs and much more

Taxes optional but greatly appreciated.

I can't believe that Labour's front bench abstained on Farright's bill to leave the ECHR, leaving the Lib Dems to defeat it. What kind of look do they think that gives them?

Sometime ignoring something performative and stupid is the better option.

That was the original plan but then was changed so in fact 63 labour MPs voted against the bill

Apparently it’s normal with these type of bills. Government leaves it to the back benchers.

MaybeNotBob · 29/10/2025 22:02

The Tories were supporting it, so it probably made sense for someone to stand up.

As I said, eye opening.

What do you think about Farage's comment?

Well they chose to ignore...because its a thread about the government , which isn't Reform. They have 5? MPs.....

You lot seem to think they are reform lovers..but all I ever read is mostly about Labour. Not everyone is as obsessed...

cardibach · 29/10/2025 22:12

Oh ffs. Seems a genuine error on the face of it, and the fault of the agency, but these things keep happening. Or keep being hyped in the press maybe… Chancellor admits breaking housing rules by renting out home https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cd04d0yxnrvo

Rachel Reeves leaves 11 Downing Street,

And who are you behind the mask?

What do you think of Farage's comments about the victims?

Starmer What's love got to do with it.

Typical deflection and a crass attempt at that.

No concern about the survivors. Which frankly speaks volumes. Shameful.

PandoraSocks · 29/10/2025 22:19

It is funny how certain posters critique and monitor what we do and don't talk about. These threads have always been about politics in general as well as chit chat.

Farage is very puffed up with his own sense of importance right now. A ten minute bill defeat is really not worthy of "breaking news".

No concern for the victims? You have no idea. None. I am closer to this than I would ever want anyone to be. Yet you, like so many, use this for your own ends. Your own hatred, which pervades all of your threads. You couldn't wait to pop over with it, could you. Disgusting.

It's hilarious that you accuse us of using the grooming gangs scandal for our own ends. Five women have demanded Nigel Farage apologise because he said they were not victims of grooming gangs. They manifestly were - it's just that those gangs were not exclusively Asian, so don't fit the Farage narrative. It is not a cover up to want to capture ALL grooming activity.

As for hatred, I would say remove the beam in your eye rather than worry about our nonexistent mote.

TheKeeperofBooks · 30/10/2025 08:33

How is the actual inquiry going?

BIossomtoes · 30/10/2025 08:35

It’s a bloody mess, not helped by Farage wading in to make political capital from it.

DuncinToffee · 30/10/2025 08:35

Would it really be that much of an effort to say that Farage was wrong and should apologise?

I am happy to engage with you @TheKeeperofBooks but you need to offer some opinions of your own for a discussion.

OP posts:

Do you believe those women should be excluded from the inquiry and if so why.
