Warwickshire council

Reform's George Finch - who gained attention earlier this year when he became leader of Warwickshire County Council at the age of 18 - wrote to Bridget Phillipson, seeking permission to revise rules that govern pupils' eligibility for free home-to-school transport.

Allowing councils to set their own rules over statutory walking distances, he wrote, would save them money.

What an absolute idiot. Does he really think Westminster is going to change the rules at his request, to the detriment of children?

He needs to do some brisk walking back to school himself.

There could be a bus right to the front door of my now adult DS2's college (actually on farmland down a 1km single lane track) but he wouldn't be able to use it unaccompanied.

It's pretty appalling that LA's are withdrawing transport for over 16s with SEND. Compulsory school/ education age is up to 18, now, and those with the most severe difficulties have the EHCP until they are 25. All the in-county education options for DS2 were farm based.

Same with my son. He's especially bad with animals and smells.

Transport is fine so long as it's reliable and straightforward. I'm always on standby when he travels.

Does he want to introduce the Ministry of Silly Walks? Bet that was on his mind.

Most of the kids I know attending SN schools - I know a lot - are travelling 45-60 minutes to get there. Very few have the cognitive ability to travel distances safely.

So how many are within any kind of safe walking distance FFS?

I swear some councils don’t want parents of disabled kids in work and paying tax.

We’re just going to have to pray for that “incredibly incoherent coalition” I guess.

It is all a bit toxic on here today. Maybe the clocks going back fucked up the security gates at the bigot farm or something.

It always is when it comes to asylum seekerrs, posters are getting bolder with their racism though.

Not just me then. The whole tone has been really tetchy the last couple of days.

PandoraSocks · 28/10/2025 20:51

It has. We've got Farage stirring the pot with his daily bloody press conferences. The media is dripping daily fear about the budget. I think it all contributes to winding people up.

She can get right into room 101 with Master Finch.

Lab monkeys from Tulane University have escaped an overturned truck north of the town of Heidelberg, Mississippi.

Despite initial claims by local law enforcement, the monkeys are not carrying COVID-19, herpes or hepatitis C.

MaybeNotBob · 28/10/2025 23:41

Tom Reagan’s Hat‬ ‪@rufustsuperfly.bsky.social‬
In 2025, a monkey commando unit was sent to prison for a crime they didn't commit. These monkeys promptly escaped from a truck to the Mississippi underground. Now, they survive as monkeys of fortune. If you’ve a problem, if no one else can help & if you can find them, maybe you can hire The M-Team.
