Pull up a chair for some friendly chit chat about politics, cats, dogs and much more

Taxes optional but greatly appreciated.

Very depressing 17% still want to vote Labour.

Why?

I've started using old names at times, some I haven't used in a while. It could be others doing the same to avoid shite.

Yes. I could understand that. But this poster hasn't posted anything at all under that name since 2019. Which is why I was curious.

Who would get your vote?

Who would get your vote?

Probably Putin or Trump.

I have clocked up about 12 name changes in the (checks notes) 14 years of being on MN.

Just to think, I only joined as "chat forums" was a line on my strategy deep dive (along with AI, autonomous cars, Internet of Things, c***currency and blockchain, 3D printing and cloud computing).

Penis beaker etc.

SerendipityJane · 28/10/2025 14:39

Interestingly this came from one of the least politically engaged friends I have.

I very, very rarely change my name. I’ve done name changes for specific events/seasons/competitions, and I’ve changed for a couple of serious threads I wanted to start about either a health or a legal issue. But otherwise I use this name only.

Are those reacting to you doing so in a way that could be construed as malicious, @PandoraSocks?

PickAChew · 28/10/2025 14:54

I’ve name changed once. It’s such a clart on.

Edited

Sent you a PM 😊

placemats · 28/10/2025 15:16

Never name changed and there's no profile on me either if I put it into a search engine.

Notonthestairs · 28/10/2025 15:18

You've got to love the plopping lurkers.
Its like a web version of knock down ginger.

That is so recent 😀

I'm reminded of the Monty Python skit off "Contractual Obligations"

Dead Monkeys are to split up again, according to their manager Lefty Goldblatt. They've been in the business now ten years, nine as other groups.

Karistyleaftea · 28/10/2025 15:47

I've name changed once on these threads as whenever I posted, one of the suspected "temporary visitors" came out to play and it became tiresome.

BIossomtoes · 28/10/2025 16:14

I haven’t had a name change in a very long time.

dontcallmelen · 28/10/2025 16:21

I’ve never name changed mainly because I don’t know how I have form for being a total ejjit where technology is concerned, have learned a lot today from the links regarding AL which I have been totally bamboozled by am cottoning onto the fake/enhanced photographs so that’s a start.
yy the rest of todays links very informative & really hope that bus service improvements come to fruition.

DuncinToffee · 28/10/2025 16:23

I probably should name change at times to avoid our fans ganging up on me. But then where would they direct their lazy tropes*

I did have a few names before this one but I am quite fond of it.

*I think they are meant to be insults.

When you get to my age and stage of life, just beckoning the sweet release of death, you really don't give a shit about ploppers, sock puppets, fascists, racists, or any other lowlife scum there are out there.Bring 'em on to be taunted a second time.

As the old blues song goes ""I don't mind dying, but I hate to leave my children crying" 😀

Yes, I saw. Some new material is badly required. 🐱🐈🐈‍⬛

DuncinToffee · 28/10/2025 16:47

I am not bothered either, I do draw a line at bullying.

It's quite funny being told I live in a big house and spent other people's money.

Israel striking into Gaza as I type. Presumably to divert from Trumps other woes.

Has anyone else heard about the Russian Army running out of fuel ?

Just think what decent public transport could not only save, but help productivity

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c14pg0xj7mzo

There could be a bus right to the front door of my now adult DS2's college (actually on farmland down a 1km single lane track) but he wouldn't be able to use it unaccompanied.

It's pretty appalling that LA's are withdrawing transport for over 16s with SEND. Compulsory school/ education age is up to 18, now, and those with the most severe difficulties have the EHCP until they are 25. All the in-county education options for DS2 were farm based.

Warwickshire council

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvgv10ey2nno

Reform's George Finch - who gained attention earlier this year when he became leader of Warwickshire County Council at the age of 18 - wrote to Bridget Phillipson, seeking permission to revise rules that govern pupils' eligibility for free home-to-school transport.

Allowing councils to set their own rules over statutory walking distances, he wrote, would save them money.
