Do you wear an apron for cooking?

Just that. Was chatting with a friend who thinks its really unusual in anyone under 80 😆

B — sometimes, if the cooking is particularly messy

and how old are you?

Me - A 56

A - 71

I have never found that any laundry detergent or washing up liquid will get rid of grease stains. Janie’s Stick does every time. I’m never without it!

C - 50.

I should probably wear one when eating though 😭

l’m in my 40s and rarely do. But a number of ruined tops tell me l really should!

My dad always does and he's only 78. 😁

C don’t even own one now, when I have in the past it got worn once or twice, I just find them annoying.

A - early sixties
I didn't always wear an apron, but do now as I feel like I'm a better cook when I'm wearing one. 😆

A - mid 50s.

Putting an apron on and washing my hands are always the first things I do when I'm about to start cooking. I'll usually leave it on until after I've eaten and done the washing up.

A - 48. Also for washing up, otherwise i get a soggy top!!

Sometimes but it's not about the messiness of the prep it's about what I'm wearing and if I have time to get changed before needing to go somewhere if necessary, I often wear an apron if we have guests for dinner so I can take it off and I'm not covered in food at the table

Eh? Are you wiping your clothes on the food?

Personally I never wear an apron and I can't remember ever splashing food on my clothes while cooking. Very occasionally a bit of flour drifts over when baking bread but it doesn't stick. It would make more sense to wear an apron when eating as that's a much higher risk of spilling food onto my clothes! I have occasionally made my kids change out of nice light-coloured tops to eat tomato sauce.

50s and sometimes, Christmas or something particularly messy....

In my 50s and I always wear one when cooking. Can't see why it would be considered old fashioned.

B - 60s, if I am wearing a light coloured top, and I am cooking with tomatoes, curry, soy sauce, etc. Ditto DH wears one most of the time, when he’s cooking, to save on washing spots off his pale shirts!

A - 38. I bloody love aprons. And I'm also a very messy, clumsy cook who wipes hands on my clothes so it's sort of a needs must situation
