Just that. Was chatting with a friend who thinks its really unusual in anyone under 80 😆

So answer please…
A — yes always
B — sometimes, if the cooking is particularly messy
C — never

and how old are you?

Me - A 56

Very very occasionally. Only if it's a special-ish occasion so I've changed into nice clothes, but there are still messy-ish tasks to do eg I tend to wear one at Xmas.

I'm 53.

TheDandyLion · 01/10/2025 18:37

A - 40

zipadeedodah · 01/10/2025 18:37

A - 60 but have always done it my whole life.

It's minging to cook in the same clothes you've been out in or wearing all day.

PauliesWalnuts · 01/10/2025 18:39

If I’m frying or baking then yes. Have ruined too many tops shallow frying stuff and getting grease stains that I can’t get out. If I’m eating pasta with tomato sauce then I also wear one! Age 53 but trained as a chef when I was young so am very used to aprons.

Not2identifying · 01/10/2025 18:41

C - 40s

And I've never ruined clothing either.

Apprenante · 01/10/2025 18:42

A 71 and messy

RoverReturn · 01/10/2025 18:42

B , especially if wearing pale clothes. Aged 55.

WelliesandWashing · 01/10/2025 18:42

Always and I’m 41.

B - early 40's

Meadowfinch · 01/10/2025 18:44

B especially when making jam. I'm 62.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 01/10/2025 18:44

B, mainly because I’m cooking while wearing really good clothes. Christmas.

Or maybe if I were doing a full on day of baking and jam making.

BruFord · 01/10/2025 18:44

A-51.

It’s mainly sentiment as I usually cook in a T-shirt and trackie bottoms so not exactly my best clothes. 😂 But, my late Mum always wore one and it reminds me of her.

Septemberchill · 01/10/2025 18:46

A 60s. I was a nurse when Jesus was a boy. I was told to wear an apron to protect the patient from you,and to protect you from the patient. The same goes when preparing food. It's just gross to prepare food with clothes that have been all over the place.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 01/10/2025 18:48

Only for cooking Christmas dinner. A big turkey can be very splashy.

WorthyOpalZebra · 01/10/2025 18:52

B, 50. When I was a SAHM, I'd wear one all the time. My granny wore a checked house coat during the day and it reminded me of her.

EmeraldDreams73 · 01/10/2025 18:53

C, 52.

Once in a blue moon I'll dig one out for cooking Christmas dinner but even that's only if I'm dressed decently which doesn't happen often.

A 50s. How do you keep your clothes clean if you are cooking from scratch? Frying, making pastry, stirring sauces etc can all be very messy.
