Just that. Was chatting with a friend who thinks its really unusual in anyone under 80 😆

So answer please…
A — yes always
B — sometimes, if the cooking is particularly messy
C — never

and how old are you?

Me - A 56

OhNoNotSusan · 01/10/2025 19:49

YourTaupeWriter · 01/10/2025 19:50

A 60

MsRinky · 01/10/2025 19:50

A 52, and I usually don’t take it off until I’ve eaten because I am messy. Have discovered that as a middle aged woman who lifts weights, you can earn the open admiration of Eastern European delivery drivers by opening the door in an apron and then easily picking up the heavy box eg. case of wine. Sturdy peasant stock me, I’ll end up with a headscarf as well soon.

Itbeginswith · 01/10/2025 19:50

A. - 50s

Becs258 · 01/10/2025 19:51

B- 50s. My mum and my nan always seem to.

Lavenderandbrown · 01/10/2025 19:51

B and I’m 59 Also my dc are B….DS who is 23 and DD who is 26.

i have also discovered that anytime I am missing my reading glasses to look in apron pocket. I especially like the pocket when holiday cooking for the phone as we are a family who calls each other for last minute cooking advice/ help/ troubleshooting and sending pics of our success

A; just turned 50. Have always worn (and enjoyed wearing) an apron while cooking and baking. Some days it goes on when I walk through the door after work, and comes off after I've eaten.

If it helps, DD, 17, is also A, although she cooks infrequently.

I've just been to count, and there are 5 aprons hanging on the peg on the back of the kitchen door. (And two child sized ones which are now too small for anyone in this house but visiting children sometimes get stuck in with the baking.)

There are at least two more in a drawer, one of which was my late mother's Christmas apron which I also wear at Christmas.

Reading this back, it's possible that I have a problem.

Comedycook · 01/10/2025 19:59

44 and never

thetooththewholetooth · 01/10/2025 20:01

B 51 - depends on what I'm cooking and what I'm wearing

HighburyLass · 01/10/2025 20:02

Well that just confirmed exactly what I thought. Age has got absolutely nothing to do with it!!!

B - early 40's

B 43

owlyboo · 01/10/2025 20:05

B 37 especially for oil etc.

OneKeenPeachRaven · 01/10/2025 20:07

B - mid-40s, but TBH very rarely. If I'm doing things like pitting cherries from the garden (can end up looking like a bloodbath) then of course, but for most other kitchen tasks, not really. I might pull one on if I'm otherwise a bit more dressed up than I would be (fancy dinner, guest etc.) or where it would be very inconvenient if I had to go and change.

whispycloud · 01/10/2025 20:08

A- 26 (my husband, I don’t cook!)

mumofoneAloneandwell · 01/10/2025 20:09

Never 😄😄

33

LindorDoubleChoc · 01/10/2025 20:11

A - yes. I'm not quite in my 80s yet! But it saves me from oil splashes on my tops and I believe also those little holes that appear near the waist band.

I wear a different apron for cleaning.

PosiePerkinPootleFlump · 01/10/2025 20:11

B late 40s. It’s pretty rare I bother but a handful of times a year

Willow12345 · 01/10/2025 20:12

A - 54

I love aprons. Especially the cute gingham ones.
